Footage from a day along the CSX A-line, South End Subdivision around Benson and Dunn, NC.
On this warm early-June day, I met up with several railfans from the Selma, Raleigh, and Greensboro areas. During the late morning hours, we were set up at various locations around Benson and Dunn, then followed the A-line south towards Wade (south of Dunn) and Beard (north of Fayetteville) during the afternoon. Several daylight freight trains came through during the morning and afternoon, then there was a lull from late-afternoon until sunset. For the evening/night action after dinner, we were set up in downtown Dunn.
