The Crusaders - Street Life (Live at Montreux 2003)

Музыка

The Crusaders were one of the pioneers of Jazz-Funk music in the seventies and have made a number of visits to Montreux over the years. This DVD focuses on their performance from 2003 when the band were touring in support of their album "Rural Renewal". Founder members Joe Sample and Wilton Felder were joined in the line-up by long standing friend Ray Parker Jr on guitar and by the inimitable Randy Crawford on vocals. They delivered a set that spanned their career from early days up to their latest album capped with a stunning nine minute plus performance of their classic "Street Life" and finished off with a fun rendition of Ray Parker Jr's "Ghostbusters".

Sometimes musitians and writers don't hear about the impact of their talent and hard work. This song helped me get out of the gutter in 1987 when I was ripping and running in the streets of "brick city" NWK . The lyrics are spot on and the music holds your attention so you can listen to the lyrics. Thank you Randy and the crusaders for helping me turn my life around.....

First let me start off that stage was filled with some of the most talented musicians on the planet . This song has always been special to me . I am retired police officer from Washington DC that worked the streets from the mid 70s to about the mid 90s. This song captured the emotions, energy, and the respect I had for those unfortunate enough that lived that life. When ever I hear this song it take me back to that time. For those that have passed on rest in peace in the arms of God.

a tear runs down my face when she comes out of the intro and starts to sing the verse, what a great voice, that at first withheld energy, that emotion, what a performance, can it be so good, oh man yes. what a super groove.

I was driving home from work one day and then it suddenly hit me… the difference between music from the 60’s 70’s 80’s and now. The music doesn’t give joy or life. It doesn’t have joy or pep or original attitude. At least not much. Truly the golden era of music was over long ago
