I’m American but her death affected me very much. I’m 53 and she was a constant, stoic, calming presence on a chaotic world stage. I always watched her Christmas addresses and when a world crises would hit, I would always wait for her calm words. She was always on top of things and had a spine of steel. I miss her…

They should have done more with 9/11. It is not well known that during the Changing of the Guard that day the Queen personally requested that the band play the Star Spangled Banner, as a tribute to the victims. It was a very moving and uplifting moment, that personally made me feel a little better that day. I thank her for it.

Of all the seasons of The Crown, I feel that the first and last seasons were the best...others seemed more like a soap opera in many segments and made it hard to follow. In the 1st, allowing the flashbacks of the abdication, King George VI's struggles, scenes of WWII, Churchill, his death and the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II, was extremely well done. In the last season, you can really feel the mortality of the monarchy, and how it is struggling to be a viable dynamic in an ever changing world - something that is shown extremely well in the scene in St. George's Chapel with Phillip and Elizabeth in his critique of the coming generations following her reign. I cried during the first season, and I cried during the last season. Both showed the human element of the monarchy, without the dramatics associated with soap operas. Wonderful ending, and hearing the bagpipe at the end brought back my watching her funeral and the piper fading away in the distance.
I teared up at the last scene of Sleep Dearie Sleep, knowing that the one Constant of our World has gone

Catherine swapping to St Andrew's would be a sharp move even if she never met William, as his attendance there gave its alumni a bit of a boost on their CVs. Don't underestimate the power of snobbery in the employment market.
The only thing I wished they would have done, is place a memorial card at the very end. It would have been a nice touch.
I did not appreciate how they implied the Queen considered stepping down, and how Charles was anticipating it happening. It was too far a stretch. The Queen never even considered it, and Charles knew it would never happen. I did however, LOVE the speech she gave at Charles and Camilla's wedding, fictional, yes, but it really drove her pov of the wedding through, humorously and gave us a glimpse/ reminder of her real life humor. The final episode was so well done, I will defend it. I loved seeing Olivia and Claire in the balck, symbollically showing those versions of herself are gone, and how she was in the cream although this was historically a correct outfit of charles and camilla's wedding) it was just fitting and Emotional.

Ok, Charles and Camilla did *not* get married during that ceremony in St George's Chapel. They were married at the Windsor Guild Hall in a *civil ceremony,* not a religious ceremony because the Church of England still frowns on divorce. The ceremony in St. George's Chapel was a "blessing of the union."

Very well done. I can’t imagine for the life of me how agonizing writing that finale was for them. How many drafts did they burn through before the director was able to yell “Cut that’s a wrap!!”
Ever since the very beginning of the show, I always thought the perfect time to stop would be 2012. The monarchy was undergoing such a popularity resurgence with the marriage of Will and Kate in 2011 and then the Diamond Jubilee and the Olympics all in 2012. It was like the youthful royals were reinvigorating it in the public eye for decades to come while it was still overseen by the approving Queen. They could've ended it in December with Kate's first pregnancy announcement as a symbol of the surefire security of the monarchy's future, and they could've in introduced the first conversations about the following years change in succession law to make it eldest rather than eldest born male. I think in reality that was just changing with the times so that if George were a girl she wouldn't be displaced, but they could've narratively fictionally framed the change in law to be a tribute to Elizabeth and her longevity as a steadfast female head of state. in the real world, Charles and camilla's wedding was deliberately low key and the date changed multiple times, it was a bit of a national whimper. in 2012, there was so much hope and optimism for a renewed monarchy it would've been such a celebratory jubilant time to finish with a big sigh of relief from an established and successful queen at last. obviously the subsequent decade didn't bear that out with all the scandals since, in the real world these things never last. it ebbs and flows, and they could've hinted at Harry's diffidence and the queen mildly suspicious of his mother's spirit in him, having learned from her mistakes with Charles not to ignore these things and to face them as Margaret advised her to. But that could have been a whisper on the horizon at a far stronger finale point than 2005 I've always thought.
It was a beautiful ending couldn't have been any better.😍
While I didn't like season 5&6 over all, I really do think the end was fitting for the Crown.
Ending for such a series was PERFECT! I wish it would go for a bit more seasons but I understand the reasoning of ending the show here. This was a magnificent journey with one of the best series of all time and I think it's gonna be very hard to top this gem, even bigger gem than the Cullinann Diamond is...
Can I note the prayer in Charles and Camilla’s wedding is the standard prayer of general confession offered every Sunday at Holy Communion said by the entire congregation. I had communion at my wedding, so the prayer should have been said. It is unusual to say that particular prayer at a wedding/blessing if there is no communion.

Nothing human last forever...pretty much tells us that the monarch will never be the same. Tells us what is happening as of today...
Loved it but they pointed us towards things that people already knew weren't true. For instance many sensible people have been saying all along and people want to fantasize about Diana and Dodi's relationship but it was a total of 40 day. Her boys didn't even meet him. People were lead to believe he was the love of her life. Dodi was actually engaged to another woman. That would encourage her not to get involved. I guess this was one way to not push a true script.
🦜 HER MAJESTY THE QUEEN 👑
I quite hate the fact they focused of William. There’s other story points like the funerals and deaths of The Queen mother and Margaret that we didn’t much on especially the queen mother. Even her funeral btw she’s a main character through the entire show was just a sub plot as we focus of Harry and William making up.
I believe the last episode, was by far the best episode and gave a ending without showing the Queens decline in health and with all those visiting her before the Queen walks out the doors into the brigjt light. Now the rest of the season was really hard to watch because those episodes were just horrible
just gonna say, her piper didn’t play “ Sleep, Dearie, Sleep “, he played “A Salute to the Royal Fendersmith “ at her funeral as she was lowered into the Vault.

Agood way to finish! She is not abdicating, Charles and Camilla are married and all is well. I thought it was clever with the Coffin then it's not there.
I just needed to mention how uncanny it is that the actress who plays a young Kate Middleton so resembles a young Katie Holmes (sic). I think that the last season had to be dealt with so, so carefully as it was to be seen after the death of HM. I think they did a good job keeping HM as the honorable and devoted queen that she was (and will remain for many of us).
Abdication, abdication, abdication. Good luck with that.

The Queen did not 'rule'; she reigned'.
As the Queen ( bless her ) died in Scotland it was. Known as operation Unicorn Once in England Operation London bridge took place
I hope they leave it alone now, just leave them be, all of them
Personally I like to think it was pure graciousness that caused them to stop before getting into the drama around the last 20 years - the drama around Andrew and Harry & Meghan is still fresh, it's way to soon for any dramatic retelling of it. The show already pushed the boundaries of too soon by focusing on William and Kate.
What did I think of the series finale? Great. I wanted it to go on and on, however.
William and Harry would live differently in a similar way like Queen Elizabeth and her Sister Margaret...The Queen was expected to follow a certain path because she had first born status.....The Second child had more leeway..more freedom and independence to break free and do things.. Now that his older brother has settled into family life and had kids..his kids will succeed him to inherit the crown.
I'm sorry you didn't touch on Margaret's death. That, and I think the series could have added a bit re: the Queen Mother's death.
the crown dosent have to be over in my opinion theres much more they can do they dont have to focus on elizabeth the show sometimes feels like its not the story of elizabeth but the story of the crown they could focus on that and make more seasons or another seriers focusing on diffrent monarchs like king george iii or as far back as king henry the viii i hope they look into such an idea
