Yes when I was a wee lad the Scarecrow boat in Arkham city was beyond scary to me. The fact there was no dialogue or any in game reference to confirm what you’re looking at, made it feel like I was somewhere I wasn’t supposed to be.

I saw this comment today and I tried beating Batman Arkham Knight which I succeeded in doing so and I activated detective mode and I could still hear those distorted noises calling for help so it probably just in Batman's mind. Or anybody from far away calling for help. Also some people might be saying it is just a noise from the Firefighters who have been taken by thugs and that is wrong cuz I tried rescuing the Firefighters and still I could hear it. Or it might be one of the theories from below like It is in Batman's head or maybe just maybe dead people are calling for help... I don't know what it is but it is creapy.

Definitely Joker messing with Batman

Tbh i always knew its sometimes creppy on detective mode in Batman Arkham Games. Its also sad because if this is true, then its sad that Batman didnt heard Jason Todd when he was tortured by The Joker. Its also weird cuz you hear that noises even after you finish the game and you cant save anyone else. P.S. Two ideas for the videos or shorts ofc if u didnt made them earlier. 1. Why Batman didnt asked Superman to search Jason Todd in the Arkham Games. 2. If you search for the easter egg really good, you will find out that possibly Killer Croc killed Anarky. + this music which is from Batman Arkham City i think, it fits the vibes of all of these Arkham Games!

The anarky one was really cool and creepy. The moving wheel on the wheel chair in Arkham asylum is depressing. Can’t forget about the only locked door (that I know of) in asylum where Jason was theoretically tortured.

Superman likely debuted between City and Knight due to Metropolis being mentioned by strange in City as a place he’ll go next. Superman is first mentioned in Knight and Strange wouldn’t be able to build an Arkham City in Metropolis during City if Superman were there

Although strange could build arkham city in metropolis while supes is in there, by that i mean Just Look what luthor is doing while supes is in metropolis. Supes would definitly know about strange being an evil Dude, but he would need to have a proof that strange is evil. Otherwise supes would be wanted for beating someone illegally without any proof, with luthor he always finds something to prove why he does beat him up And puts him in jail, but with strange he would need to do a Little bit of journalism or call Batman for help with his detective skills. But at the end of the day, i hope in sskjl we will know more arkham verse lore And maybe we will know when other heroes were introduced And etc.

Batman didnt asked to Superman to search Jason because Joker send an movie that shows Jason being "Killed" we already know Jason never died and Joker lied to Batman. And Batman never tried to find the body because he dont want to see their son dead and he thinks Joker do something with the body. But stills pretty weird Batman accepting Jason death just because Joker send a movie of him being shoted in chest. Joker in the Asylum got some help of Boules and more corrupt cops to hide Jason and torture him. Also Boules always told to Joker when Batman come to Asylum for hiding Jason and torture him. Honestly i think Making Batman give up to find who happened to Jason body is just an excuse of script to Make Batman never finding Jason.

Ok so I just thought of this after seeing this video, the voice in detective mode sounds like Amadeus Arkham from Arkham Asylum? Which makes it even more ominous because the Amadeus Arkham artifact pieces in asylum were creepy as haillllll

Honestly the Alfred explanation does have some merit. In the final Joker Hallucination where Joker is in Batman’s place, Alfred tried to get through to him by saying “Master Bruce… BATMAN…”, so that definitely is an explanation for why that sound is so similar to it.

I always found that creepy and didnt actually know it wasnt in any other arkham games i actually thought that was normal lol

I love how eerie these games were. Playing through them for the first time was the greatest video game experience I’ve ever had tbh

Manbat you can hear from the distance if you haven’t cured him yet.

Batman suit have the Bat Ears who have a technology that enhance Batman hearing distance for too far. And because of this we can hear voices and weird sounds. Gotham is a big city with crime happening every time, someone in Gotham is suffering and screaming for something, this still pretty disturbing, and Batman can hear that all the night. Also some Devs of the game said some of that voices is Alfred with distorted audio in Bat Cave talking with someone like talking with Bat Family members that can be Dick, Oracle or Tim. Its very disturbing thinking Bruce every time he works as Batman can hear that screams. But superman can hear it too, he go to space and make a patrol and like Batman hear the sounds and come to help.

I like to think that Batman is haunted for not using detective mode to find Jason, hence he hears Jason calling to Batman for help.

The sounds are nearby surveillance, due to the technology he uses, it's picking up in the mode. It's also likely literally noise

I can actually understand how this would be alfreds voice because at the end when being injected with the fear toxin when joker took over Bruce's mind and he's going around with the gun and there is a distorted noise and then it clears up and it's alfred trying to talk to bruce, which actually sounds very similar to the noises you hear in detective mode so i believe this statement is true.

I played batman ak and ac a lot for a few weeks and I would hear those noises when I wasn't playing the game. I'd also hear the cobra/cloudburst beeping sound when you were locking on.. Great times 💀

I think that since Detective Mode pretty much is a Detective Mode, it isolates noises so that it doesnt interfere with possible audio recreations. So while the noises of the city is dulled out, his conscious is playing out various conversations or people talking from all the times he has had to deal with a bunch of bullshit i.e. Origin, Asylum, City, Knight. Also the added possibility from Batman having a very small dose of the new Fear Toxin, although it isnt enough to affect him like it does to Owens and the cafe customers and is very very little with it being the heart of where the new Fear Toxin was being produced, but it is just enough to coax out the Joker from Batman's subconscious and possibly just past conversations and such from before or during Knight Thats what i believe honestly...

I've never found it creepy. it was kinds cool actually

What’s the name of it?

i noticed that the detective mode noises in arkham knight sound similar to background ambience from arkham asylum (idk if it’s specific to a certain building or if it’s everywhere, but i’m pretty sure i heard it in the medical ward which makes it more creepy because i’m pretty sure that that is where jason was tortured (?)), but these voices aren’t present in that ambience which makes me think that batman is having hallucinations about jason since he didn’t find him even with detective mode

It sounds to me like it’s the fear toxin and the Joker infection fucking with Batman’s head. It sounds like Jason’s crying out to Bruce because of the guilt Bruce feels over him.

We never heard this in the previous Arkham games, so im wondering because Batman got dosed 3 times in Asylum by Scarecrow , receiving Jokers blood in City and Scarecrow coming back as the big bad for Knight , as the player continues their journey through the story mode and with the back story of what happened to Jason being revealed Batmans mind is slowly breaking and you can hear his cries for help haunting the dark knight and the player to make it seem like they are also going mad making this very well put detail yet dark and terrifying at the same time

I think he remembers Jason and thinks if he just looked a little harder he could’ve found him.

This was a bit of freaky game at times. The endgame hallucinations were out the gate. Specially the sequence where you play as the joker

Man's got a point. I always thought this was Riddler hacking Bruce's Detective Vision to draw that he is really ready to pull the trigger of the bomb around Catwoman's neck.

There is one spot in gotham, in the ferris wheel, where the music in the background starts to get more unnerving and intense as you approach the ferris wheel, if you move out of there the music will begin to fade, I never understood why, but it always peaked my curiosity

Distorted is too vague. I was able to make this effect on my own for a sound design project. You can record a cluster of conversations, ideally in a reverberant acoustic space and then use extreme time stretching with the right algorithm to retain the same pitch. It creates the stuttery yet unintelligible sound you hear in detective mode.

It’s Jason Todd I recognized the voice immediately the reason it is is because he was tortured by joker.
