The Creator Challenge - Mixing Colors & Decoupage

Welcome to this week's DIY Home decor! This week is a special episode where you will see 3 of my favourite chalk painters (Kacha, Jonathon Marc Mendes and Daniel from Other Man’s Treasure and myself take on a creator challenge to create 4 furniture transformations with 4 chalk paint colours with a neutral white color! We also had a special guess officiator Annie Sloan!!For my piece, I did a color mixing of the 4 colors and chalk paint wash technique and a decoupage! I hope you enjoy this special episode!

What a stunning outcome! It's great that you embraced the challenge of working outside your comfort zone. I would love to see a landscape challenge. Maybe incorporating 3-d elements.

Christina! What you (and the others) can do with a little paint and a lot of imagination! Beautiful, all of them. I have to try the paint wash over wax -- I never thought of that. Thanks for showing how you did it.
WOW! I’m blown away too because it looks pretty simple to do and “have fun with color” (to quote you😊). Gives me courage to try it myself. Actually, I just completed my first chalk paint project-a small child’s vintage rocking chair😃. After I did some carpentry work and wood glued pieces together, I painted it white and my 5yr old grandniece helped with stenciling her name on top w/some hearts and stars. I was amazed at myself. Watching and applying your techniques on your videos always inspires me to try and go out the box. Thank you so much Christina!!! Hoping your loving your new home 😬

LOVE this, Christina! Amazing what one can do with some chalk paint, stencils and decoupage.....My late husband always said if he did not keep moving about, I would paint him, also! I told him, since he was my only valuable antique, it was unlikely I would paint him! 🙂

Good afternoon Christina, I mix my lipstick colours, if you can do that then paint is not a problem 🥰 Sometimes you wish to paint but you have small bits of paints, mix them all together, but be careful, in some cases it worked great, I have not done so. All the projects worked out so lovely, so interesting to see how different people combine things, so interesting. Unfortunately for the other lovelies, I think your cupboard have the edge on all of them. The colours plus the small fern transfer and needless to say the decoupage and paint blending was such a run away winner. It all depends on how much thought goes into the project as well as what is available. This was a great challenge. Everybody looked so happy so they enjoyed it very much. I am absolutely loving the creativity that is shining through. Oh so beautiful….as for the challenge…One possibility might be to have several random pieces of furniture to see how they could be repurposed to be together in the same room. For instance two night stands, a dresser and a chest of drawers.. Another might be to have identical pieces of furniture (maybe an IKEA piece) for all contestants and each person do their own thing. Another might be to mix different items together, such as a piece of furniture, a piece of art, and mixed decor for embellishment, with all items being redone.
