Me neither but I watch everything he uploads. I absolutely love the topics and his ability to explain everything in enough detail to leave me feeling like I have a solid grasp on the subject but not so in depth I feel like something may have gone over my head.

Alex, It’s nice to see a face connected to the text. Love “Airpower”. I think that it’s also helpful to see the size of the various rounds used by the military since most people don’t realize the difference between 5.56 and 30mm. The GAU8 Avenger is amazing. 65 RPS of depleted Uranium rounds !!! How can you not love the A10. Also, when the cyclic rate is stated it misrepresents the actual firepower of the gun. Saying that a gun has a cyclic rate of 4,000 RPM ignores the fact that the magazine only holds 1,000 rounds (Example). Same with the M16/M4 rifles. I don’t think that most folks understand magazines capacities vs. actual RPM when magazine changes are included.

Well, if your A10 gets shot by multiple MANPADs, I'm not so sure anymore.

My friend had a shotgun ride in a F4 Phantom (in the 80’s). The pilot had to empty the 20mm M61 cannon (into the Mediterranean Sea), he said the whole aircraft shook when it was fired. 😃

Hmm, "had to" empty the 20mm cannon into the sea, when they had someone riding shotgun. Sure buddy, I'll believe that 😉 After all, the people in the military are just the big boys with the big toys after all, and why shouldn't they be allowed to have fun once in a while? I mean technically ammunition does have an expiration date, at least if you want it to be reliable, so maybe they were telling the truth. That being said, they did choose a particularly... satisfying way of "disposing" of the ammunition.

Fascinating!! I don't like the trend towards Shorts lately (which I refuse to consume).. BUT this length & longer are perfect for things that aren't fleshed out into a full video and I would love to see more.

Loved It, Scott...What you could have talked about is WHY the bullet for the A - 10 is made out of depleted uranium. It's used to penetrate the armor on a tank. You need something super hard to do so.

Wow, those are some impressive bullets and guns. I have a couple of shells from the Grumman F14 Tomcat. I used to work there back in the 80's and was able to get them for souvenirs. It's also good to see the face behind the voice.

Well-made long-form content is hard to find here on YT. While this quickie video is certainly good, I prefer your longer vids.

The short form content is great. Loved the video.

Alex - in the video you gave dated info when you said the GAU-8 range is only 4k - that was true until the mid 90s ONLY because the AF initially only paid to seek eagle (test) the gun out to that range - a cost driven artificial limit NOT a ballistics/accuracy driven limit. Therefore the early A-10 LASTE computers capped the computed gun solution to about that range - IOW you did not get a computed firing solution until you were inside the (artificially capped) range in the LASTE computer. THEN in the early 90s the AF used new increases in computing power and software to develop ballistics out as far as it could work. IOW if the tgt/aircraft altitude/speed/winds/etc allowed a solution you would get one. I have accurately shot the gun and hit a target at over FIVE (5) miles slant range - I was at medium altitude and using the HUD in expanded mode.

INCREDIBLY GOOD VIDEO. I teach in the Danish army. Can I use your video to show the size ratio between the simple calibers. It's just a bit of a shame that you didn't have 7.62mm Nato with you, which is used in most LMG weapons.
