If I were in the area, I would hire him to sketch the actions at the party and gave his sketch out to the guests as a gift.

We did exactly this at our wedding reception! The "wedding favor" was the sketch of the guest.🧡

I love his style. He incorporates the background color so that the piece evokes an overall color scheme and mood. Really inspiring art.

What a talent! His sketches can never be replaced by photos in the sense of artistry.

What a talent, I've always been an artist, I draw old buildings and cathedrals for a living now at 40 years old, but as blessed as I am to be gifted with the talent to produce art, I could not imagine being this skilled and quick enough to create pieces of this quality in such an intense atmosphere, hat's off to all court room artists, it really i quite a unique skill set.

This is so beautifully made. It’s like watching a biography of someone ordinary and relatable in 10 minutes.

Like any profession, you have to move with the times. Political cartooning may go the same way, and 2D cel-style animation already has.

What amazing history! So cool to see him smiling at the Gallery. Just an artist enjoying doing what he does.

Why isn't this guy making BANK from his artstyle alone? I'm hoping this was recorded before the internet became so big.. Because this man has a talent that would be wasted for the world to not have seen it. If you can bring that much life, and definition into something as arbitrary and pedantic as a courtroom, I would love to see what kind of other things he could produce, and I hope he is still around, and continues on. Always feels somewhat heartbreaking when talented artists earn minimal wages, or work in places they hate, and it really seems to happen a lot too.. Like the famous starving artist cliche, but that it inspires genuine sorrow instead of repetition and generalization.

Wow. I’m going to do my first courtroom sketches tomorrow. No way could I do such fantastic work. I hope he sold all his work for good money. And I hope he’s found another way to create and sell art. There are so many options.

This was a good documentary. I wish a friend would've told him to "buy a camera." He has to video and draw; he could've doubled up. I have/had friends today that aspired to be animators and I forced them to get into video camera and editing. Animating is even easier today. Even I can draw, and I have a setup for multimedia work. I am a CSC^^Engineer in the medical field (and arts). But I know/knew that drawing is/was a skill set that is the "frosting on the cake." Its not a main bread-winner. You must involved your skill-set to the science industries industries like 2D and 3D modeling. He has so many avenues, but he doesn't know them. He really needed/needs a manager.

i watched several courtroom battles in the united states on tv here in japan. some courts allow crews to bring video cameras in there. but in this video other court still prohibits bringing cameras. im confused. is it totally dependent on the state law or something of the like that?

Technology is destroying humanity, the cold digital world we live in is effecting everything from social to economical and everything in between, I understand and embrace technological advances, but I can't help but imagine the grim, cold hearted, lonely, boring future of our world once everything has been reduced to the click of a mouse or the push of a button.

Here is the thing: technology such as cameras will make court cases more avaible for the public to watch, and make it more engaging for the public. That, and there are things articles of newspaper doesnt capture, such as Amber Heard vs Johnny Depp where Ms. Heard freakvently after getting shut down by the plaintiff glared at the jury, and her emotions came that of anger/calm/thinking. A court scetch would NEVER be able to capture these movements.

yes i think its a shame that he felt the need to put down photography in order to look better as a drawing artist. I think there shouldn't be a lot of room for human interpretation inside the courtroom, i do believe it should be a "colder, more factual" recording.

Rob D, why not both ? a "colder, more factual" recording AND a "warmer, human, more artistic" picture ? do you support the idea of replacing the lawyers by robots if they become more efficient and cheaper ? with Artificial Intelligence android lawyers may become more efficient than human lawyers.

Not in this instance. Photography in court reporting is not going to be artistic at all and takes little skill. I would also say most people can take a picture few can draw or paint well.
