the cost of HUSTLE CULTURE & why I'll never subscribe to it...

Hi Besties! Happy New Year & 2023! I'm so excited to be back and in action. Right now, everyone is probably preaching very hustle culture-like ideals, with it being the new year. I wanted to invite you to see an alternative perspective that will benefit you in the long run; spoiler, it's the opposite of what you may be hearing right now as people set goals for 2023. I hope you enjoy this one! Let me know your thoughts on hustle culture in the comments.

3:24 Hustle culture is good for only a certain amount of time. I can only speak on me,myself & I. Hustle culture got me to a better life than I was in 5 years ago. I don’t think ppl should stay in that mindset but it is good to get into it if you want to reinvent yourself or place yourself in a better position in life. I don’t like the idea that this generation thinks working hard is toxic. You can not get anywhere in life without Hardwork. You just have to understand why you are working hard and what your end goal is. Lastly, there needs to be a balance. Hustle but also know when to sit back & give yourself grace and rest.

When I start digging deeper into nervous system regulation and root causes of anxiety I realized that those pushing hustle culture are probably just people with unresolved childhood traumas (such like emotional neglect) promoting their coping mechanisms. Slow life for 2023 🙌

Taking the time to be still, quiet, relaxed is a form of self care and in that quiet time I’ve found that I’ve come up with triple the number of business ideas, KZread content, life improvement steps (working through functioning depression). Like you said carve out that time on your own or else the universe will do it for you in a way you may not like.

So I've been sick since December. Every time I get better, I get sick again. And I knew there was a lesson in all of it. I prayed for an answer and this video was that. My body was so tired. My body needed rest and grace. My body was keeping score. Crying as I'm writing this because it's such a huge realization. Thank you sooooo much Bria for this video. I wasn’t focusing on my mental, physically, spiritual, none of that! So this year I want to still commit to my goals but focus on things that will fill me up and make me feel good so that I can be able to achieve these goals! Everyone’s best ideas come from when they are having fun and not when they hustling their butt off! Thanks Bria for another great video!! Right on time like always!!! 💕✨🫶🏽

I didn’t even realize hustle culture was a thing until this video! I guess it was so embedded in my way of thinking that I didn’t even recognize it as such. If I’m sitting down watching tv or just being still, I feel so ashamed. So much so that either one of two things happen: I get emotional because of how “unmotivated” I am or I force myself to get up and do something I deem as “productive” (and then still call myself lazy at the end of the day 😢) I literally touched on this in a recent video and didn’t realize it went that deep. Thanks for making me go deeper Bria!

I agree with every single thing you said!! I think that this hustle culture is becoming the new 9to5, so many people are just subscribing to it…collective consciousnesses is now making it seem like it’s the only way to be successful. But taking breaks and working less actually allows us to take inspired action - in other words, working smarter not harder! 💫

Long story short I was sick and couldn't get up from my bed for a whole month, when I never in my whole life got sick for more than 2 days. Love this!! I got sooo burnt out in 2022 and this is the year I take control of my life and live for me. I’m tired of the hustle I experience a lot while being an entrepreneur. this year I’m trying to work from a point of passion (not survival) and understanding that asking for help and advice is okay. I am prioritizing myself and my needs, especially allowing my inner artist to express itself.

For me, excelling was "learning the business and getting in line with it." I had major accomplishments in my career because I took that route. The hustle, work hard, or grind on that aspect for me was simply learning the business. Once I learned the business, it allowed me to speak the language of the business to individuals already in key positions. That helped me excel, and then it was me who wrote and revised processes and procedures to lead the business as I propelled to a management position.
