Today I run you through a proper shaving routine to make sure you can avoid skin damage and shaving irritations like razor bumps, ingrown hairs and redness. I told you guys last week that my most common shaving issues are the razor bumps that I get underneath my chin, general redness and that tuggy feeling on my cheeks when I finish shaving. I also mentioned that I’ve teamed up with Gillette and I would be testing out their new SkinGuard razor and giving you guys an update on how well it works. Watch to see my review of the razor after a week of trialing and be sure to check out SkinGuard at Walmart for yourself here: bit.ly/2Z09oqo

Step 1: throw out the gillette. Step 2: get a straight razor, shavette, or safety razor. Step 3: get rid of the gel/cream in a spray can (the propellant is bad for your skin) and get a quality shave soap, cream, gel, etc. that you squeeze or scoop out or lather directly on the bar of soap. Step 4: have fun You're welcome

THE 10 COMMANDMENTS PREVENTING OF INGROWN HAIRS: 1. THOU SHALT NOT USE DIRTY BLADES! Using a blade that's been used way too many times. Yes, this one may be obvious, but be sure to keep your used tools as clean as possible. Soap and rubbing alcohol will destroy bacteria. 2. HONOR THY DELICATE SKIN! Too many blades! If you are prone to ingrown hairs then you don’t need 3 or more blades. More blades equal more passes causing the hair to fall beneath the skin and become ingrown plus more blading the skin leads to micro cuts through which bacteria is more likely to enter. 3. DO NOT TAKE PREP TIME IN VAIN! You should be using a warm/hot water prep (3-5 mins). Then leave the shaving cream on for more than 2-3 minutes to really soften the hair. The hair stubble should literally fall away with little or no pressure at all. Pressing hard is the problem! Be gentle ya'll. 4. THOU SHALT NOT GO AGAINST THE GRAIN! Shaving against the grain. Shave in the direction of hair growth (usually down, but perform a face/ body map to be sure) Inspect your hairy self and notice the way the hair grows. 5. THOU SHALT NOT PRESS! Pressing too hard on the skin with the blade. A gliding, light touch is all you need. This is likely your biggest issue. 6. THOU SHALT NOT PASS, PASS, PASS! Too many quick passes with the blade. One pass per hairy area - going 1-2 inches downward at a time - will prevent ingrown hairs. Always shave like you might cause damage, not like your mowing the front yard lawn. 7. THOU SHALT NOT COMMIT OVER SHAVING! Shaving too many times. This rule is hard to follow, especially if you have to shave for your career but if you are prone to ingrowns, try shaving with an electric clipper. The results are not super close but no one but you will know the difference. Ladies, try waxing. 8. THOU SHALT NOT CLOG! Use of skin/pore clogging creams or lotions. These keep hairs from growing up. After a shave, keep your skin bare; let the tiny army breath, and allow those newly shaved, really small, microscopic hairs to grow out just in time for the next shave. 9. KEEP THY SMOOTH SKIN FREE! At least for the first day or two, try to avoid tight fitting clothing around the Adam’s apple (neck) and/or below the waistline region. Newly shaved hair follicles need room to raise up. 10. REMEMBER TO EXFOLIATE! Not enough exfoliation to remove excess layers of skin causes ingrown hairs. Use an ingrown hair brush for razor bumps as directed. Make sure it’s a brush that has special bristles designed to tease newly shaved hairs away from entering the skin before they can become ingrown. If you have sensitive skin, then go with the soft and firm bristles.Try a Wizker brush and you’ll prevent razor bumps and ingrown hairs permanently! HUGS:)

If you pause and look close at the pic of him after full shave where he is showing how smooth his skin is, you can see there is still some tiny unshaved hair on his chin and around. You can tell where the hair was before he shaved it. This is the problem I always had with Gillette multi blade razors of any series. I used to have mach 3 and fusion series for years and it always failed to give me a complete shave. Now I started using cut throat razor and it's simply awesome, the smoothness on the skin after shave and it doesn't take 2-3 times shaving like Gillette, it gets the job done in single stroke. It's not much different in terms of pricing either, only if you are going for premium brands then you'll be paying more, else it's almost the same price. Blades are quite cheaper though. You need some practice to master it, after you've mastered it, it's fun. Precise and clean shaving. Gillette razors - not so clean shave. Safety razors - clean shave but I have problem maintaining the angle with it, one time in scraping the blade and the other time I'm scraping with razor metal that covers the blade. Straight razor - I find it to be too lengthy than necessary on the face. Cut-throat razor - Perfect for me, I find precise due to the fact it has the edge that is same length of blade which gives to precise control on shaving and more space to hold the razor properly. It takes a little practise but It's not a rocket science, most people are doing it and everybody used to do back in the days.

I dont know what it is but every time I shave, 1-3 days later I get the worst kind of razor burn you can think of. Under my nose starts to dry out and crack, it constantly burns, rarely it itches, but nothing every works, I've tried different shaving cream, different after shave, nothing works and after shave just makes it significantly worse. It lasts for a week to a week and a half. The only thing that sort of helps with the dryness and durning is Vaseline but that doesn't help the itching and cracks

Most of the time I use Philips 9000 series... Gillette should expand & release their own brand of electric shaver since they are already well known in the shaving industry

He used a Gillette shaver before using the razor so I believe they already have some on the market... I stopped fully shaving a while back, too and just use the electric shaver because it's much cheaper and I like some stubble over clean-shaven look anyway :)

I sometimes use cold water to shave my face so my face is nice and smooth. It helps and my face doesn't mess up, just feels nice and soft. I'm almost 19 and I don't have a full beard yet. Just some real thick peach fuzz and my chin hairs are real thick and my sideburns.
