The Coronation of Tsar Nicholas II

The ceremony of the Coronation of Tsar Nicholas II took place in May 1896 in Moscow. The ceremonies began on Thursday, May 9, with the Imperial Procession into the city from the Petrovsky Palace. The Emperor went on horseback, followed by two golden carriages, containing the Dowager Empress Marie Feodorovna in the first, and the young Tsarina in the second. May 10 and II were days of ceremonial receptions. On May 12, Trinity Sunday, the Banner of State was consecrated with the Imperial Regalia that was delivered from the Armory to the Throne Hall of the Kremlin Palace. May 14, saw the Coronation itself with the procession to the Assumption Cathedral under a baldachin.
This video is an excerpt from a special edition entitled "In the Path of Love and Blood", featuring 30 minutes of high-quality newsreel footage from the Russian State Documentary Film & Photo Archive (RGAKFD) and photographs from the Russian State Archives (GARF). The total runtime is 40 mins.
The book and the video (mp4 direct download) are available for purchase at: www.romanovs.e...
The documentary features footage from the Stantart, the Crimea, the White Flower Day festival, Easter at Livadia, visits to Sevastopol, the Battle of Borodino centennial anniversary, the Romanov Dynasty tercentenary celebrations, Military Maneuvers, World War I, and the Russian Military Headquarters. The documentary is non-narrative, and it features Russian music from the early 20th century. It is separated in chronological chapters, indicated by titles.

Somehow yes, many lived in hardship under the czars but it was not Nicholas' fault when he had no idea about the changes that had occured within his subjects because his predecessors foolishess in the way of greed may be or traditionalist governance. The Russians I think, got what they wished, for their lives became much worst under the bolshevik regime. The last Romanovs did not mean harm in their bad decisions, if only the last czar was given the chance to reform Russia, its history turned out differently today.

It would appear the Russian Imperial regime fought the hardest to preserve the basic human values of God, Father and Man against the whole world, even at the time. Even the Japanese who believed that their monarch descended from their Sun Goddess had some parliamentary institutions thus they were able to ride out the Republican Parliamentary storm for longer. Imperial Russia stayed true to the faith between God and Man and the last Tsar and his family suffered the same unfortunate fate as Lord Jesus Christ, an execution for living the pure life. Now the world is living under the firm rule of political parties, trade unions and urban elites that are more powerful and have more control than any absolute monarch at their most tyrannical could have ever wished for.

This is an enjoyable video. It struck me how the three European monarchs who were killed in revolutions, Charles I (1649), Louis XVI (1793) and Nicholas Il (1918) had so much in common. All three were described by those who knew them as decent, well-meaning individuals who were good husbands and fathers, all were married to foreign wives who were widely hated, for no good reason. They also faced opponents who would stop at nothing to gain power and try to impose their ideology on society. Nicholas faced an almost impossible task, no one man could be responsible for ruling a country the size and complexity of Russia in 1894, and society was so polarised that it was hard to find reformers to work with the regime. Finally after their fall from power and then facing their deaths they behaved with courage and dignity, sustained by their Christian faith.

Wonderful words, Patrick, simply wonderful! It makes so, so, so very happy to see that there are people out there like yourself, who can grab the truth, see it, feel it, and share it! It's only logical, one only needs to see it with plain common sense to understand it. But even more than that, the spiritual grandeur of this family is so unique, well, only a few can grasp this... Thanks for your comment here! It's greatly appreciated!

@@bierjip1 What I have read is that Nicholas wanted to pass his empire to his son exactly as he inherited it. The son couldn't rule because of his medical issues and many Russians were looking for a more democratic government. Louis XVI was a well-meaning man, too. He just wasn't up to the job, added to the government's debt with the extravagance of his court, and tried to collect a 2% tax from the nobility to solve the country's financial problems. He couldn't enforce it. Someone at the time said Louis would have made an excellent clock maker.

If it weren't for the insistence on male primogeniture, things could have been very different. There were four elder sisters, all of them presumably in good health. Any of them could have saved the dynasty and spared the world the scourge of communism. But they banked everything on Alexei, the one poor male heir with an incurable disease. So it was the system that was fatally ill and unable to adapt to circumstances.

All monarchies at that time had a preference for male rulership, though that is now changing. You are probably aware that three of the four women who ruled Russia as empress regnant came to the throne by revolution. The only exception was Anna Ivanovna, who was chosen by a council when the male line of Romanovs became extinct in 1730. The problem was Nicholas. He could not or would not see or accept that the world had changed and that he was required to change along with it. He visited Britain and saw firsthand how a constitutional monarchy works. He could have applied some of those principles to Russia. Instead, he made many of the same blunders as Louis XVI and suffered a similar fate.

@@Tes7000 Disagree. The concept of "world-changing" is totally misleading and only reinforces the grand-narrative that the big power blocks want to impose(in this case, Britain). That also happened with the USA destroying(and financing the destruction) of the big monarchies of Europe and imposing "democracy". Take modern Russia as an example, although it has "liberal capitalism", it maintains a different social order and another type of government, which for post-modern western minds looks like an "authoritarian" type of government. Furthermore, Nicholas was incompetent because he himself didn't see that the people themselves wanted changes, and when the monarch ignores the people, he falls. The point was adapting Russia to a new type of social order, not adopting themselves to a western model.

Nicholas ultimately named his brother, Michael, as his successor upon abdication so as to spare Alexei separation from the family. And things might also have been very different had they not all been shot to death simultaneously by Communists, already in power, and completely indifferent to saving a dynasty by any line, male or female.

Everyone listened to him about some events coming? But the fact I dreamt about him in these times of Russia's Pandemic mass deaths is a message in and of itself. Russia is today in the greatest Social Crisis since the Great War & Bolshevik "revolution" & civil war and despite the Victory Day today, Russia must face a challenge inside Russia now.

@Patricia McCoy It is known that Germany brought Lenin out of exile to destabilize Russia and get it out of the war. The timing was perfect and he succeeded. If Franz Ferdinand had lived, he would have implemented reforms in Austria Hungary. The Emperor Franz Joseph detested him and rejoiced when he was assassinated because he wanted no changes in the system. Franz Ferdinand had noted on one occasion that a government dominated by Austrians and Hungarians that froze out of power all the other nationalities in the empire, could not last.

Any serious historical researcher of the 21st century can easily read and see that Nicholas II’s reign was remarkable and he himself was far from being the weak and naïve leader or the cruel and bloody tyrant portrayed by communism and the West! The fact that these 2 diametrically opposite extremes were attributed to him should be enough to make someone think of the absurdity! Was it not very natural that a century of communist propaganda would do their very best to distort this truth? One only needs to read the (Russian) archival documents and sources. It is all available now. You can read our book (in English), which is based on official documents from the Russian State Archives and the memoirs of all those involved in the events of that era. Before the First World War, Russia had succeeded in reaching all her economic goals, which were set in the series of a large scale of reforms planned by Prime Minister P. Stolypin and Tsar Nicholas II. In 1913 the annual growth of agricultural production in Russia was first in the world, the annual growth in its industrial productivity was also first in the world, the population growth was first in Europe, and the annual national revenue was sixth in the world.

WW I brought down a number of monarchies, not just Russia. Getting into that war was a huge mistake. The problem wasn't that he was fighting Austria in defense of the Serbs. The Serbian army actually defeated the Austrian army when it invaded Serbia after Franz Ferdinand was assassinated. Nicholas was fighting Germany which had all the equipment and military readiness Russia lacked. It was not an even match.

The coronation of the czar is a from eastern or bizantyne rite, an autocratic coronation that the czar takes his crown and crown himself being blessed by the patriarch, it was adapted since Catherine the Great and Paul I and westernized more and more in the 19th century, by german holy roman empire influence and even the british coronation.

Just wanted to say I bought that video on your main book website and I wanted to say it was awesome! Thank you so much for putting that up to buy! I definitely plan on buying more videos if you sell more. Just an idea but it would be cool if you sold some pictures on canvas or able to download on our phones for a certain price. That’s up to you though. Love and God bless!💛✝️🙏🏻

I’m very proud to be Russian because of who the Romanovs were and I’m blessed to have them in my heritage! I know Russia has gone through a lot at times and is still going through some and recovering but I am proud to be A Russian and to know that people like you guys and the Romanovs and more are from their and what an impact they made for the world! Especially with Faith in God! I’m praying for Russia and that God bless it always and keep you all in the palm of his hand! Love and God bless!💛🙏🏻✝️

Received my copy of "The Romanov Royal Martyrs" last week, have thumbed through it and have started reading it. My only question is why doesn't it have an index?
