exactly. I don't have any need to turn my pc into a disco ball. It seems to me some people spend a lot of time making their system look special. then they compare it online. And maybe run benchmarks and compare. And then never really ending up doing much on their pc. Its like someone pimps their car. only to show it off on meetings. But only uses it to get groceries sometimes. I don't want to shit on their parade. But it does feel a bit wrong somehow. give me a clean looking pc that mostly just does what it needs to do.

Thanks for the video. As a graphics dork it's weird and eye-catching in a bad way that the dark blue ring on the Lian Li LCD displays appears to have chroma subsampling artifacts on the edges, like they're sending a low quality JPEG file to the fan for the screens. I thought it was a youtube artifact at first but it seems like it's actually there on the fan displays, and it makes me wonder what Lian Li is doing with these things. On the other hand I'd normally be sitting far enough from my PC case that I probably wouldn't notice it in practice...

While the speed is greater at the tip the shape of the blade matters more. How the blade contacts the air is not the only variable that determines the fans noise level. If you look at the length of the front edge of the white blade it looks longer than the clear blade. That must be deliberate and must have some impact on the air - be it cfm, pressure or noise.

just like to know where you mount the fans under normal considerations - at the top & the LCD points down and is hard to see, at the front and the LCD is again hard to see and that leaves one at the back. There are cases than have mountings at the front side and base but then the fans are starting to dictate the case you get while the LCDs should in theory be an addition to getting the correct thermals in the best case

Then it will be impossible to find the exact replacement. The most funny part is it can be avoided by putting the screen as a separate object.

They push considerably less air for a given RPM than many of their competitors tho. (including some of their own range) They're optimizing for simple, robust and manufacturable designs and pumping up those huge sweeping blades with bigger motors. Something more hyper-optimized like a Noctua will perform better per RPM by a lot. But in the end it's just about the noise vs airflow and Arctic is no slouch apart from the odd motor or bearing noise at particularly low speeds.

This is one of those products where its cool and I like the concept. I'd just never buy it. After years of fighting various RGB software, I gave up.

Are you sure that the Lian Li fan is moving air in the same direction as the other fans??? When JayzTwoCents covered these fans he brought up that they have reversible blades because you aren't going to flip the fan around and cover up the LCD's..... I only mention this because I would expect the fans to perform WORSE because the center hub is bigger and that gives makes the blades smaller and have less surface area. So I thought maybe they might be pulling all through the radiator where as the other fans pushed.... I know I am most likely wrong about all of this, but I figured I would bring it up anyway. :)

That is why I always choose fans without separate controllers. They are garbage. I still have somewhere Corsair maglev or whatever they are called. They were loud and worthless. I recommend noctua, some noisblockers and phantex d30 (tested in this video) they are inaudible below 400 rpm. Plus low density radiators and you are good to go.

They perform better, they have larger fan blades. The blades are also made of lcp on the non LCD ones so better materials.

I do like seeing Lian Li spanking Corsair in the performance and bling department. Shows that there's no need to compromise performance for aesthetics. Corsair loves these big edge band LEDs, and they're sacrificing the most performant area of the rotor for it. Blinging up the center where the blades do the least is smarter.

looking at that fan, the hub looks larger than non LCD versions. I wish they make 28-30mm thick with good performance and no rgb. Seems rgb is the priority right now.

The p28 is like ten dollars a fan cheaper and has no RGB, is 28mm thick, and is a high performance fan. It doesn't have the screens though.

Yup. The P28 is IMHO the best 120 mm fan on the market right now. But of you want the same at 140 mm you are still screwed. These bling machines aren't what I want.

Someone needs to make one those nice looking lcds that we can just glue to the outside of the case, passing the internal USB cable to a thru simple drilled hole that the LCD itself hides.

Imagine having to look over across your desk, peek into your case, just to read a CPU temperature for that split second. It's such a stupid design. But, people will buy it, because people will buy anything Lian Li launches.

Not to attack the mythology but I'd think a test controlled for either sound, or energy use would be more appropriate than a set speed. Maybe all the fans have the same sound profile and flow to speed factor but... Nah I'm just being picky, I doubt that would have any impact given the same size of fans.

The question is how often you check reading temp on fan LCD, CPU pump LCD, power supply LCD? Even if you have window in case, and PC on desk how many times you look at it in game? And this pulsing rinbow RGB lights on everything on PC is distracting when play games. Yes for Showcase PC is looking good. But when you try to concentrate on game the PC rainbow lights and noise near to the head is so distracting. I like quick connecting daisy chain fan but prefere no light options.
