The Controversies of the War in Ukraine | Chad Robichaux | FCS Podcast Ep. 336

Chad’s New Book ‘Saving Aziz’ :
a.co/d/0pjVBCy
'Saving Aziz' Q&A with Mike Glover
www.crowdcast.io/c/glover
Chad is a former Force Recon Marine and DoD Contractor with eight deployments to Afghanistan as part of a Joint Special Operations Command (JSOC) Task Force. After overcoming his personal battles with PTSD and nearly becoming a veteran suicide statistic, Chad founded the Mighty Oaks Foundation, a leading non-profit, serving the active duty, military veteran and first responder communities around the world with
highly successful faith-based combat trauma and resiliency programs. Having spoken to over 275,000 active-duty troops and led life-saving programs for over 4,000 active military and veterans at four Mighty Oaks Ranches around the Nation, Chad has become a go-to resource and is considered a subject matter expert on faith-based solutions to PTSD, having advised the former Presidential Administration, Congress, the
VA, the DoD, and was appointed to serve as the Chairman of a White House Veterans Coalition.
Chad is also the Co-Founder of Save Our Allies, a non-profit that’s mission is focused on the evacuation and recovery of Americans, our allies and vulnerable people trapped in Afghanistan. Save Our Allies began as a personal quest for Chad, as he set out to rescue his long-time friend and Afghanistan interpreter, but the mission quickly evolved because of Chad’s compassion for people and his servant heart. Since its inception, Save Our Allies has safely evacuated over 17,000 people that were trapped in Afghanistan and is now helping in Ukraine.
Chad is a bestselling author and has written a number of books related to veteran care and overcoming life’s challenges, donating over 200,000 copies to the troops during his resiliency speaking tours. He is regularly featured on national media outlets and his story was notably shared in a short film by I Am Second and the documentary, Never Fight Alone. Currently, and a life-story motion picture movie is being produced based on Chad’s #1 best-selling book, An Unfair Advantage.

Not necessarily. I would definitely say that to Iraq and Afghanistan for those who are opposing tyranny and fighting for freedom from extremists. It's really a matter of which side of fence you're standing on. Ukraine has put a firearm in their peoples hands because they had gotten rolled. Every nation or state (their is a difference) deserves the right to freedom and sovereignty.

Respect to Chad for volunteering for what is a essentially a humanitarian effort in an active combat zone. BUT..that being said. As a veteran myself I am 100% done fighting these pointless wars. We have our own issues here and my family to take care of. After the debacle of Iraq and Afghanistan I knew from day 1 this was just another way for the politicians to make war monger money.

  • @Mygg_Jeager

You realize that makes you look like the bad guy, right? You volunteer by choice to fight in a foreign war of aggression in someone else's country, for America... but then when another country comes to ask America for help fighting a foreign aggressor that's invading their country, you turn your back on them. You volunteered for the wrong war my friend. I understand war fatigue and bitter resentment at being lied to by your government. But how you live your life moving forward is how you will be judged in the end. I work in healthcare, so an analog for me, would be me refusing to treat anyone ever again, if I accidentally killed someone in the past. Failing to learn from our mistakes and move forward in life only compounds the damage of our past decisions, it doesn't mitigate it. Just something for you to think about, I ain't saying you're evil or anything like that. Just leveling with you as a fellow adult man who's also seen some shit in his time.

Imagine allowing an entire people to be subjugated by your stated enemy, because they don't understand "strategy." Also imagine those same people are sending thousands upon thousands of their own soldiers to be trained by your trainers, and then turn around and tell them they don't know what they are doing. Imagine not having fought a near peer war in 50 years and then telling the only country to fight a near peer conflict, on a modern battlefield vs a much larger enemy, and with much less weaponry, that they are doing it wrong. Imagine doing all this while withholding support after agreeing, IN WRITING, to fully support said country in a defensive situation. Then imagine patting yourself on the back about doing the right thing in Ukraine. Warriors? These people will do ANYTHING we say for a chance to defend their freedom. These people have shown the only way Russia will win is if every single Ukrainian is killed. They are all in. You wanna talk about tax money and politics. P.S. Stingers don't kill tanks.

  • @slavajuri
    @slavajuri11 ай бұрын

One problem with the aid discussion is that significant portions of US "aid to Ukraine" aren't actually for Ukraine, they're extra allotments for general NATO maneuvers in Eastern Europe. While these are technically relevant to the Ukrainian situation, you'd never actually see that impact on the ground directly. Further, the trouble with "they can't afford gear or med kits" just comes down to the reality of fighting a war without the proper structure in place to do so. Even aside from potential corruption, Ukraine has horrible Soviet-era bureaucracy problems that delay or obscure funds. The people in the system trying to do good are often fighting against other people in the system trying to do good because that's how inefficient bureaucracies usually work. Not to deny that corruption, deal-making, etc. hasn't been relevant, but even if the government spent its aid perfectly, ~$40b for a wartime economy of 40 million people really isn't that much money to work with. So I disagreed on most of that stuff. But thanks so much for a unique perspective and highlighting someone doing really great stuff in the world. I really enjoyed listening to this, even if it was very hard to hear at times.

Where was the concern since 2014 as Kiev was killing their own citizens in the Donbas? Neither side is clean in this. US/NATO provoked for years, and the Bear woke up. War crimes, both sides. A ceasefire & humanitarian aid should be the only priority at this point.

I think not enough nuance is discussed, especially among many of us that are probably right-leaning. That's why I really enjoyed this conversation. We need to remember multiple things can be true at once, we don't need to hate Ukraine just because we don't want to send so much money with no endgame strategy. Some nuanced things that are true: 1. Russia is intentionally targetting and murdering civilians 2. Both sides are sending out lots of propaganda 3. Ukraine is corrupt ( and Russia is also very corrupt) 4. We are probably sending too money that is lining the pockets of Ukrainian officials, US politicians, and the military industrial complex So no, fellow people on the right, just because Ukraine is corrupt doesn't mean Russia is good. Just because Ukraine might have poked the bear, doesn't mean Russia is justified in its invasion. Ukraine has a right to defend itself from its aggressor. Just because the politicians are lining their pockets with war doesn't mean there aren't real people, real innocent families being made to suffer in war that need our help and generosity. We can make our points about not sending a blank check to Ukraine without falling into a "Ukraine bad" mantra. We also don't need to virtue signal in support of Ukraine. We just need to look at the issue in terms of the US's interests in the area, and how we can maybe relieve some of the suffering going on.

Much of it would also cost us more to dispose of than it is costing us to share it. Those outdated arms aren't going to do anything for anyone here at home. Just as a point of focus, I wonder how much of this civilian execution and targeting is done by Russian regulars, vs. The infamous Wagner group and their prisoner conscription. Now I am not authority on the subject and have no basis of comparison for this thought, but with all of the conflicting evidence and reports on Russian soldiers and their.... behavior.... I can't help but think there is some blurring of the lines (as I'm sure we are all aware). I follow Willy OAM on KZread, a journalist who spends alot of time interviewing soldiers on the front from both sides of the conflict and has spent time on the ground, and it seems from his testimony (among many others I have been trying to cross reference just for my own interest and understanding) that you get interactions that are cordial and professional (specifically from Russian paratroopers and other SOF groups in Russia) and then you get outright atrocities committed by Russian actors that are *often* never identified. It goes without saying I am not taking Russian government's side nor am I in any way implying that it is excusable no matter the circumstances. I just wonder if history will give us another shining example of why oversight and policing of your forces is necesarry, lest they be free to (or encouraged even) to do as they please in war time.

That's an incredible deed Chad did for the Fox Journalist. In the future, I do hope brave men like him come to question the war and understand why it happened and who is responsible. The fact is: while Russia has blood on their hands for the invasion...their actions are the culmination of 30 years of US-led NATO expansion since the fall of the USSR. The western states have repeatedly violated promises and made aggressive posture towards Russia on top of instilling regime change in Ukraine, and members within the DoD and intelligence warned against our Eastern Europe foreign policy. We can't act all shocked just because Russia finally decided to do something about it.

Every president since has expanded NATO. Then we backed TWO coup d'etats within 10 years to establish pro-western leaders in Ukraine. Until they were right on Russia's front yard with weapon systems that are both offensive and defensive. The lie you are sold is that Putin is an tyrannical imperialist. The truth is that Russia's grievances have been ignored and theyve been forced to watch for 30 years as the US builds a military alliance outside its borders. The real imperialists are the US led west, and if the last 20 years of middle eastern conflict weren't enough to show you that, idk what to tell you. You also didn't mention 14 thousand civilians killed by Ukranian nazi battalions between 2014 and 2022. Among them were 120 children. And the only reason they were attacked was because they spoke a different language and Ukrainians called them "subhumans". I don't see you're making a big deal out of that.
