@@TheNameIsSR by adding gyro, I suspect he’s re-creating the same advantage in a different way. He can snap with his arm, and micro-adjust with the touchpad. Thats the _real_ advantage of MnK. It’s the movement & looking around you do when you aren’t fighting. No amount of aim assist will change the gap in the ability to move and fly around like you can with a mouse on any FPS. Aim assist can make the balance of a game super janky and complicated, but it can’t make up for the fact that with a mouse I can 180° nearly as fast as my reaction time.

For the people who are interested in this controller.... This is not a normal "controller". It plays as if you plugged in a mouse and keyboard. So if your console or game is not compatible with mouse and keyboard, then this thing won't work for it. Saw this on Amazon like a year ago... it is mostly for PC gamers looking to use a controller.

Seems good maybe to use for games like quake 4 since they have no native controller support and xbox controller input (+ things like steam imput) can be pretty wonky in games that were made for mouse and keyboard only on PC, like it can work. But often I find games that don't have controller support make the cursor start to float (normally towards the left) across the screen like the right analogue stick is constantly being lightly pressed in that direction.

😂Does work still, bought one a couple of weeks ago, does take allot of practice plus you can keybind on most games in the options etc, the response I must say on the pad is really good and again I managed to take it down on rainbow six siege and insurgency sandstorm sofar, and now fully realise how those mouse n keyboard players are so accurate and responsive, but I could never get used to using them..probably because I was a console player but now have a gaming PC. not sure how many games support this..time will tell. Definately worth it IMO if your a PC gamer as the controllers you do suffer in response times 8n comparison.

With the trackpad, though... 😈 I'm SO glad they included some on the SteamDeck. That's still my main reason for buying one and yet never seeing it as a good idea to "upgrade" to a more powerful one from Aya or Lenovo or something. That dual touchpad interface is just... So good!

@@qTravis666 Eh, I disagree, but I will say it had by far the steepest learning curve I've ever experienced out of literally hundreds of controllers over several decades. It's tweakable to your personal ideal response, but takes a while to get it perfect. Edit: To clarify, I'm talking about the Steam Controller touchpads, not the SteamDeck, which is quite different than the controller. Less tweaking needed, for a start.

I got this controller. Both the wired and the wireless versions. The wired version kept disconnecting randomly while playing Warzone with it. That's why I ordered the wireless version. If your good on the fps mobile games, you'll get this quickly. Went from 20 kills a game of death match on controller to over 50 with this new game pad

Funny thing is, this is the original intended way to use the original DS for things like Metroid Prime Hunters. The original DS had a thing called a "thumbstrap" not a wrist strap, and that's because the nub on it went on your thumb, so the touch screen was the right d-pad that way. Basically, the same layout as this controller.

Everybody is using and yet not one person has ever seen, purchased or heard of. Seems legit.

The only controllers you need for using as an alternative to mouse on PC are: 1. Dual Sense - Gyro aim 2. Dual Shock 4 - Gyro aim 3. Nintendo Switch controller - Gyro aim 4. Steam controller - Gyro aim + Touch pads 5. Steam Deck - Gyro aim + Touch pads 6. Any 3rd party controller with Gyro that can act as dual shock 4 on pc - Gyro aim Dual shock 4 and Dual Sense have touchpads too, but their position is not ideal for use during actual aiming compared to steam controller and steam deck, so I recommend sticking to only gyro there. And yes, Xbox controllers don't have gyro support because Microsoft loves staying 20 years behind in tech.

Because there is a learning curve to aiming with a touch screen since most people are used to keyboard + mouse or controller joystick aiming. But people who are used to mobile shooters like codm would be comfortable with it

If there's such a steep learning curve for no clear benefit, why would anybody pick this weird controller over a keyboard and mouse or traditional controller? Trying to reinvent the wheel in terms of how people interface with their devices almost never works out. The Steam Deck works because it's an iteration of the Steam controller, which people liked. The Switch Joycons work because they're an evolution of the Wii remote, which also can be put together into a traditional controller layout. This thing is just weird and not worth the effort.

It's quite niche but this could be a useful accessory for people who are very good at mobile shooters but not as good at console aiming. I would personally fall into this category

Not really, our comfort in using a controller is largely determined by our preexisting bias, most video game consumers view controlling video game through a dogmatic lens believing what they are most comfortable using must be the best option for control. This point becomes pretty obvious in the FPS community, where Analog aiming is undeniably inferior when it comes to the accuracy of the controls when compared to point and click or aim and shoot and no where near as fast as even gyroscope aiming as we see in competitive Splatoon where teams not adopting gyroscope aiming were being left behind in competitions.

Yeah. Buying a controller which cost same as Xbox controller just to play one or two games 💀💀💀. Most popular mobile games don't have controller support. If you connect to the controller, you get into controller lobbies which are actually a bot lobbies.

It’s gimmicky asf. A plain trackpad is awful for tracking, you’d need a pad like the steam controller. Also it only works on a small amount of console games

For starters, you can plug any USB keyboard and mouse into a console and it'll work, but also the Steam controller was very well made and once people got their hands on it the thing was almost universally liked. Linus even said it was about as good as a keyboard and mouse for the games he and his team tested it with.

@@Left4Cake yeah bro that's straight up untrue, I own a steam controller and while they look cheap they are incredibly well made controllers, not to mention how it was made for you not to have to sit at your desk while playing games like Civ6 or cities skylines which it's phenomenal at doing while also giving motion controls for FPS games which is just objectively better than twin sticks, and i have an Xbox that has a surprising amount of compatibility for Keyboard and Mouse like you can just play allot of games on keyboard and mouse. I've never even had an issue with my steam controller which was also fully wireless unlike this piece of shit. Let's not forget they were made to go alongside steam machines which were made to be living room units, the steam controller was almost necessary for something like that. The steam controller did not get the fair shake at life it deserved and thats obvious with all the new stuff coming out that's just ripping on its whole deal, meanwhile they all feel worse than the OG.

@@BortaMaga their surface area is roughly around the same one than a thumbstick can travel, right? How is that too small? They're meant to be used with the thumbs while holding the Deck/controller itself, so making them as large as the trackpad on a laptop doesn't make much sense. It'd be the same problem as when trying to tap on something on the other corner of a modern smartphone's screen, the thumb doesn't reach that far without repositioning the hand itself and that causes one to fumble around in order to not drop the phone itself and in the end one just gives up and holds the device with both hands. To me making them smaller seems like the right idea ergonomics-wise, specially when taking in consideration the size of a Steam deck itself since it's quite the chunky handheld device.

@@axelprino well yeah, a thumb can reach so far when you reposition your hand just like how low sensitivity mouse players move their entire arm while making big movements, that's normal. You still fully hold your phone/controller with your left hand and some part on your right hand so there's should be absolutely no concern of dropping your phone/controller. As someone who has experience playing FPS games on mobile, trust me when I say an ideal trackpad size for FPS aiming should be slightly more than half the size of a smartphone nowadays (at least horizontally), unless you never make big movements like 180 degree turns in one sweep or you're an extremely high sensitivity player.

NGL, that thing looks like the perfect controller for a game like Baldurs Gate 3.

Dualsense and dualshock 4 from playstation work like this from beginning when you use steam

I wished it had a gyroscope because I really like a gyro + trackpad setup. The only non-handheld controllers that have both either is discontinued or is awkwardly positioned.

I once thought of a controler used as a keyboard, with diferent buttons acting as keys; seems like someone had the same idea

The Darkwalker Shotpad is a pretty big innovation for Xbox users who want gyro aiming. The system sees this as a mouse and some keyboard buttons. The touchpad is only one way to displacement aim, as the device also has a gyro that outputs mouse input. This only works on Xbox and PS5 games that support keyboard and mouse.

This would be awesome for The Sims 4.
