Little did I understand when I went forward and accepted Jesus at this concert in 1980 that we could see all they sang about become a reality in my lifetime. I practically wore out this album back then. But when I listen to it now I see how it is even more relevant today. We could see Jesus' return at any time now. So grateful for those in the Continentals who came our town and shared this message. Keep watching for Jesus. Serve him until He comes.

I was in this Musical and I had the best time. We were all friends and I cried after our final performance.

such Biblical doctrine in the lyrics. I played french horn on Tour C. Life changing. The words means so much more now as an adult. Thank you God for allowing me to be part of this ministry.

The Lord brought to mind the song from my childhood "The Lord is My Light and My Salvation"...which led me to this wonderful video. I listened to the 8-track non-stop, and I'm grateful that scripture put into music resonates decades later. Thank you to the Continentals and all those who wrote the music and performed to bring HIS LIGHT.

Thank you so much for posting this musical online. Christian musicals created in the 1970s and 1980s (such as The Apostle, The Witness) brought so much joy to me and my husband when we were youths. We used to sing those songs in the church. Had stopped listening to them for a very long time. Hearing them once again brought so much joy and encouragement. I think Christian musicals seem to be a thing of the past. 😢 God bless those who wrote these musicals to worship and praise Him. All glory to Him.

Thank you so much for uploading my most favorite album of all time! I had the LP when I lived in South America in the early 80s. I have been looking for it for many years.

Yes Jeff this is an amazing musical it was a pleasure playing drums for you on tour W 1980 a time in my life I will never forget.

I had the great opportunity to see The Continental Singers in Brazil! Rio de Janeiro! It was a wonderful time! I remember Paul Wood, he was a musician in the group!

@@Teresa20230 Hi !! I was on that tour too. We went to Río de Janeiro oin 1980 and 1981. Paul Wood was our 1st trumpet player. What a great memories we had in Río!

I loved my tours with Continentals! It shaped who I am today! 🙂

One of my favourite album too ..had it in cassette..until it was worn out . Continental singers had a great impact on my life as a young Christian then ...I would buy every single cassette without fail ..I was very happy when the US continental singers came to Singapore in the 80s ...I still have the brochures . ❤

Where are the Continental singers? I told my wife the other day, Oh We NEED THEM!! I would travel across the entire United States just one more time to see them just one more time before I die.

Song "They tried to kill the light" = Volume 10 in my headphone... So many thanks. Oebele!!

I was seven years old when I first heard this. We saw them at church and my parents bought me this record (I still have it, but no working turntable). I listened to it again and again and again (just like the song says), turning the record over, or just moving the needle back to the beginning time and time again. It is a wonder the record is not thin from use. Anyway, thank you so much Oebele. As testament from all of these others, the Love and Light of the Lord is truly Great!

THANKS SO MUCH! I heard this on LP in the 80's and have been searching on KZread for a while to find it again. I feel that it isn't up there with The Witness or The Victor, but gosh, the Continental Singers always have such a great sound. I feel the tears coming as I'm listening to 'No Darkness' right now. I'm in a resturant, so I'll have to keep it together!

Wat heerlijk om deze opnamen te horen! Dank voor het delen, ik heb er van genoten en zal dat zeker vaker nog gaan doen. Ik heb m bij m’n favorieten opgeslagen ;-) Aan deze nummers zitten zoveel herinneringen van ‘vroeger’ maar hebben ook zoveel kracht voor nu... het was echt een bemoediging en een ‘trip down memorylane’ tegelijkertijd.

@@oebelevries Graag dien hjer! Mijn Friese schrijfkunst is ver onder de maat, al spreek ik het natuurlijk prima... Leuk dat je even hebt gezocht. En inderdaad: Joyful Sound staat nog steeds onder invloed van wat ik als assistent dirigent bij de Continentals in '92 en '93 heb geleerd op de tours naar Duitstalig Europa. "Set them Free" (net ook weer even beluisterd) was de laatste druppel om ook auditie te doen. Net met het koor "Testify to love" ingestudeerd, liederen blijven gewoon van deze tijd vind ik hoor!

I agree. When we did this musical, I sang "They Wanted To Kill The Light' It was a highlight of the show and I was so very proud to sing it.

That was a fun gig! I played in the orchestra that year traveling through northern Europe and across the US. 😊 Brings back all kinds of memories!!! Thank you for posting!!!

I just missed the song What a difference He made in my life. I remember they sang this song in the concert in Brazil. If I am not mistaken...or was it another album?😮

He had no beauty or majesty to attract us to him, nothing in his appearance that we should desire him. 3 He was despised and rejected by mankind, a man of suffering, and familiar with pain. Like one from whom people hide their faces he was despised, and we held him in low esteem.

Thanks so much for posting this! I lost the tape I bought way back in 1984 and later bought a CD copy off Ebay years ago but it was missing song no.12 "He is the Light" that was special for me! God bless!
