This video shows Mac, from www.halfwayanywhere.com traveling the length of the Continental Divide Trail from the US/Mexico border to the US/Canada border across 3,100 mi / 5,000 km or trail through New Mexico, Colorado, Wyoming, Idaho, and Montana.

What an extraordinarily revolutionary idea: take us all along on your 3100 mile journey in four magical minutes, all punctuated by a beautifully composed song. On behalf of all us dreamers stuck here in the real world, I want to express my deepest appreciation to you three guys. Maybe because of you, some of us will choose not to stay stuck here forever. Peace...

youre right. in all regards. because of people like these guys, i've chosen to hike this trail. Someday, I say someday because I dont know if I'm going to start with the CDT or the PCT. But that journey doesn't start for several more years, as I've got kids and I want them to be a little older, and I need to build up to it physically...I haven't walked more than 1 mile in years.

I hiked this in 4 minutes also.

Me too. I just placed nether portals at both ends of the trail and a trapdoor ice road in the nether and zipped across.
For those who have not hiked the trail this is a great summary. For me, 70% complete so far, it brings back so many memories and fears and thoughts of the unknown I had starting out. I had no idea what NM's bootheel would be like, hot AF, the wonders of hiking the Gila River, the people I'd meet on trail in towns, in hostels (The late Nita of the Toaster House particularly). Its magic, its hard, its beautiful, it'll break your heart, it'll scare you and inspire you in the same San Juan mile. I loved it, hated it, cursed it, swore I'd never do it again and can't wait to get back out there again. Its one of the hardest things I've done and one of the best. Whether you try and fail (many do), try and end up sectioning, or end up thruing it in a year (congrats!), you will never forget it and it will change who you are. Take that hardest first step and find yourself, find yourself standing on a border thinking well now what, and put one foot in front of another starting an unfathomable adventure.
One of my favorite hiking videos and songs.
Dangit man, I only just hiked the PCT and now you're giving me all these feelings. Thruhiking has ruined me.

knowing about thru hiking ruined me already 😂
Breathtaking. But what we didn't see was how formidable this trail can be. Would love to experience this one day.
Our country is gorgeous! Thanks so much for sharing this.
Amazing. It's so important to stop and capture a moment that moves you.
That’s crazy how the song seems to have been written to match perfectly your video. Good job and thanks for making all the community dream. One of these days I wish I can hike it with my 2 sons and wife !! How cool it would be !
Great job on this video. Really enjoyed it. Started CDT in 2017, this is the kind of inspiration needed to get back and finish.
That was beautiful. Thanks for sharing.
^5 THANKS for doing this and posting it! As an elderly now...I "was" with ya "all the way!" Thanks...it was GREAT!
This was a great video! Thanks for sharing! Subscribed.
Love this video. Great song as well.
Beautiful! Thank you for the video.
Awesome!!!! I enjoyed this video very very much. Thank you!
Beautiful! Good job!
Dude this is my favorite video ever
Perfect sync with the song. Nice job.
I put this hike on my bucket list after watching this, great video man 😊
Congratulations!!
Thank you so much for sharing this
Good song, great trip.
I love this as a great way of sharing a 3000 mile story.
I attempted the John Muir Trail (solo) and failed. I have nothing but respect for people who actually complete these treks. Its so much easier to dream than it is to actually do something.

have respect, for your self....you gave it a go, and it is still there, you probably learned a lot, so dont be shy for trying again....it took me three attempts to make the AT.....you never fail, until you completely quit....and even then you did something, and learned something...

Don't try to finish it. Just start, enjoy every day and see where you'll end up. It will most probably be the end of the trail.
Great intro video! Thanks!
I've been waiting for more videos like this since I saw the PCT one. Thank you!

That's an amazing accomplishment!
It’s refreshing to see through hikers get to the Canadian border not in snow! I hope there’s no snow for me & my comrades this year! 😬
Nice vid. Looking forward to hiking this trail in 2022 or 2023 (depends on Covid allowing access to the US). Through-hiked Te Araroa in 2015-16 and it was the best thing I ever did in my life.
Wow that was absolutely stunning! Thanks for sharing. I can see why now everyone makes it to the ens, it looks daunting as hell, but somehow so attractive.....
Nice job...very inspiring!
Beautifully done. Hope you enjoyed the trip and especially Wyoming. :).

That's what I said when I made it to the end.
This makes me want to do this trip so badly!
That wild to see a person walk so many miles got to give you people a ton of bad ass credit I couldn’t do it .
That's amazing
Nice video.
This is super esoteric but the beginning of the video drove me nuts when the cuts first started happening. Until about the ~45s mark the cuts happen just a bit too early for the beat. Then it eventually really locks in and feels solid for the rest of the video.
Brillant!
Impressive!
So many rocks to climb along the way
This should be the music video for the song
Came across your blog the other day, i was looking up about bears on the PCT, haha. I want to hike the triple crown, i'm from Australia and have quite a fear of being ripped to shreds by a bear. However, i cannot let this stop my dreams right? 😂 Lovely video
I thoroughly enjoyed the virtual trek. I wonder,, would it be possible to include a small map in the corner of the video showing where you are at any given moment? I have only been on parts of the trail, so it would be very meaningful for me to see where you at any given moment point in time.
Must have been one hell of a trip goddamn
Now make Timelapse of whole trail.

thats gonna be like a 1 month long video
Amazing!! So many questions spring into my head though! How do you stay on track? How long did it take? Do you literally walk all day or do you camp out longer somewhere you enjoyed? What do you do for food? How expensive was it? This is something I genuinely want to do!
@philipbuckley759

as some one who has hiked the AT.....maybe I can answer....stay on track.....focus on time not distance....I will be for x weeks....and then that gives something to shoot for...it should take about 5 to 6 months....and yes one hikes, usually, all day...some better hikers....take time off to swim etc....but not me....food is knorr noodles with tuna or something like it....one can have pre cooked meat, and there are other thing for food....too much to mention, here...I think the expenses are about 30 to 40 dollars per day.....plus hostels, hotels and restaurants, on resupply points...if you want to do this....keep in mind it is over, when you decide....one day, one month, one entire trail....no big deal.....give it a go.....

@@iainsanders4775the answers to all those questions are pretty easy to find. I wouldn’t necessarily say it’s ungracious not to reply to every comment on a KZread video with hundreds of thousands of views, but that must be because I’m an asshole American.

Awsome video, awsome music. Good luck out there with the nights! Keep in mind it's just a paper tiger!
Who for fucks sake thumbs down these videos? Is satan on youtube? This is INCREDIBLE.
Since the new GoPros have much better stabilization, could you do it again? ;-) Great video!

Wow you're so awesome! It's really beautiful
This is actually one of my dream to hike the CDT. Thank you for the video. Btw how much did you spend for the whole journey? Thanks
Absolutely beautiful. How hard was this trail and how long did it take you to complete? I'd love to start hiking so I might take this up. Did you see anyone else along the trail or was it just you and your group?
How long did this take you/ how did you get back home/ did you almost die/ how many miles a day did you do/ was the happy greenery easily accessible and if not did you bring any?
Merry Christmas! I hope you are enjoying your time in NZ, I highly recommend you visit Nelson Lakes if you have time.

EPIC again ! Stop it ! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 Hiking has open a beau 🌏 ! No > will I waste time in my human weaknesses of hard feelings/ego/bad energy ! ☺️☺️☝️💪🏄💥
What date did you start? I’m doing the CDT next year, NOBO as well.
how did you get provisions on a daily basis? were there resupply stations along the trail, or did you hunt and fish?
well done! How long have you been running and with which camera have you been working? Greetings from Germany!
Awensome! What camera did you use?

Nicely done "short" video of what a hiker will see along his/ her way. Would have been nice to put in subtitle info on what part of trail each segment was shot...other than that, truly a beautiful thru hike!!
And is it easy to get lost, also did you hitch hike at any point? I'm assuming that's pretty much a gamble considering the crazies out there
Ended at the best spot? No Canada video?
What shoes do you guys use for your adventures??
Truly beautiful and what a great life achievement. What is the place called at 3:49 ??

How long did this take and what was your budget?
