THE CONCRETE SAND PARADOX, PART 2
Ғылым және технология
Natural concrete sand is almost gone. The world has used concrete as a basic building block throughout time.
One of the basic raw materials needed for concrete is sand. And while there is a plentiful supply of sand around the world, the specific type needed for concrete has been reduced to a fraction.
In this video we wanted to start focusing on this topic to do the following:
- Bring awareness to this the Concrete Sand Paradox, illustrating to what length people will go to make quality concrete, Part 1
- Show how the changes in sand can impact the fresh concrete properties, Part 2
- What are the alternatives and solutions to this concrete sand problem, Part 3

Thank you!!! #Staytuned for Part 2.
A really concrete video
So the crushed sand would be better suited to 3D printing? Thanks.

It definitely can be.
Would you please tell me where to find Part 1. I'm interested and can't find it. Thank you for your time.
What is causing this? Is it due the difference in absorption of water by the different sands?

Yes as well as change in surface, fine content, and the types of fines.
hi you did a video in the past about skate parks I'm building a DIY skatepark and for my bowl I need a firm mix think I need to ensure a dry mix according to this experiment the crush sand would work best at a 5to2 sand to cement ratio, any suggestions would be super appreciated cheers concrete guy ✌

Definitely a stiffer mix for the vertical sections and for carving the rounded sections. Your don’t want a soupy mix that doesn’t hold its shape. I also think you should use a crack compensating agent. It’ll help keep that the shape despite the concrete wanting to move.
