Thank you Stephen! Tying the treatment you give to the highlight on the sphere to the same on a portrait is the missing point in most online coures and tutorials I've seen recentl y. This is refreshing. Please keep it up!

It’s nice to see another one of your videos on graphite drawing. :) There are a lot of artists out there that teach graphite but you have something different and the aesthetic of your style is something I enjoy. Thanks

sheesh, you have so much patience when drawing a sphere, an hour and 15 minutes. the results definitely reflect it though

Such a fundamental step in learning values - How many spheres do you think you've drawn over your art career?

Well, calling my art hobby a career is quite a stretch, but I have done quite a lot of these basic shaded balls, eggs and stones. Mostly in graphite and charcoal, lately also in watercolor. To an extend that my daughter has started making fun of me...🤣

Since I am a teacher, too many to count. As a student just a few. Probably should have done more.

I drew along with the full video on your patreon some time ago, it's a great tutorial! Why didn't you include the final version of the sphere in this preview video?

Hello one question. When shading an apple, is it better to make the shading lines straight or following the shape of the object (oval lines)?

In general, I prefer straight lines. If the situation dictates curves then so be it.

Stephen, I have a Rotring mechanical pencil with thick lead of 2.0 . How do you make your lead so pointy ? It looks like Spear ! Could you explain me the sharping process please ? I would be really glad as I have absolutely no clue how to sharp leads used in mechanical pencils (to be honest I broke a few of them so far) . If it happens that you read my comment, thank you very much for your time :)

Really fine grain sandpaper. Rub it back and forth until you get the point to your desired length.

Dear Stephen, I'm a patreon supporter of you, i did one semester at angel and there was a lot of small accessory exercises given by instructor, like doing value scale, value strip, clean and flat. I was wondering if you could include those in atelier tier. Please
