This is so cool and clear! Thank you so much for the explanation! Could you please include subtitles (in the video settings) for those who are not native English speakers? 😅

Im pure structure myself because visual style i find makes me think too abstract to the point im not really thinking when i draw. With structure i am thinking critically and can draw with or without a reference and am never a slave to copying and accurate drawing. If you want to invent characters or do things like concept design you need structural thinking.

I wonder why he blackened the plane in the upper eyelid? Does he always do that in all his portraits or its a design choice bec the drawing looks better if it is blackened?

there is another, probably the most important issue in this matter that no one talks about. the sheet of paper should be parallel to the eyes. if you draw at an angle or on a flat table, all proportions can be disturbed.

Hi Stephen, Please, I have a small question. It is known that turpentine is volatile, and the question is: If I mix turpentine with oil painting will it also be volatile in this case?

Your painting of Lady Agnew and your comments were inspiring, however I was waiting for you to correct her left eye to being it up just a smidge to being it even with her right eye. Sargent painted them even with each other.

hi you are very good! I'm Italian and I got excited when you said imprimitura! By the way, what are the names in Italian of the colors you are using? for example, what is the name of Yellow Brawn in Italian??? and the extra vermillion? alizarin Crimson and flake whate what are they called in Italy?

After watching many tutorials and trying to recreate from books, I am very surprised how good this explanation was. The seemless blending in of skull an markers without leaving the drawing was very helpful. And the description was easy to follow yet dense. Some other videos take 20 to 30 minutes to deliver a similar thing.

Thanks. I hadn't heard of Bouguereau, as the main stream media concentrates on the Impressionists and Seurat's dots. I'm glad that art has not totally devolved into some of the things we have today.
