I gave up on ff2 years ago as I hated the levelling up system. This has been perfect for letting me see how the story went.

I used to ape on a fantasy too as well even though I thought the leveling system was interesting. Pixel remastered fixed all the issues that I had with this game and I was able to come back and beat it as a overpowered beast.

For anyone who struggled to get through this game, just get a Warp and Teleport tome and use them all the time. After teleport hits level 10, there’s only about 3 monsters in the game that aren’t OHKO. Other characters just have as melee fighters, the warp and teleport user can learn cure and be a white mage. Makes the game super easy, as the story is pretty awesome probably better than 5 and easily better than 3

Once again, a fantastic intro! This video light up in me the will to play FFII again. It's so unpopular among the fans, but I simply can't place it among the worsts ones... I mean, just look at the leaps in storytelling comparing to the first game... it's HUGE!

Aside from XI this was the last mainline Final Fantasy I played. Haven't developed thoughts on how I would rank it but I feel like there is a lot to love. Might have to do a review...

I am currently going through all the pixel remasters as I have never played a single final fantasy game before. These videos are really well made and an awesome way to recap what I just played through, especially since sometimes I focused more on the gameplay and getting all the loot than focusing on the story going on, lol.

It's been a longtime. I never tried to play Final Fantasy II in my life. I think this entry is an misunderstood gem, people probably didn't fully understand it.

Excellent video, just played through Final Fantasy II for the first time since playing it in my childhood, it’s a dark story… even darker if you get the context from the novelization based on the game.

If I had to pick a Final Fantasy game that needed a remake the most it'd actually be 2. Precisely because it's usually rated so low among fans makes it a perfect candidate. Not only does that mean there's plenty to improve upon but there won't be as many angry fans if they change something.

Yes..I really hope for the remake..it will be an amazing ride in hd FFII has a deep and great story.. and I also hope that maybe they will make a sequel or a spinoff.. can square enix give some attention to this gem?

Brilliant summary! I loved this game so much when I was in my mid teenage years! I used to play it on my iPhone 3G in the remastered Pixelmaster version. Plenty of fun and so many fond memories with it as with the first instalment of the series, namely Final Fantasy I. Final Fantasy II is, in my humble opinion, the best possible sequel to Final Fantasy I and it's definitely worth playing... but, be careful, just as with the first game of the series, it might get very addictive! Have fun and all the best! Last but not least, thank you so much for sharing your great work here on KZread and plenty of success with your channel in the future! 🙂

I loved this one even better than the first game. Kinda werid but the concept of leveling system was very unique to me. Many hate it but I find it good. I was way too overpowered when I got the final boss too.

There's a lot more story that's implied over what you see on the screen or in text. A neat setting can really do that for an older game. On the other hand, there's no real character progression. I guess you have to wait until FF IV for that.

Loving these you should go over the complete story of Final Fantasy Tactics

I gotta say ever since the pixel remastered came out. I was able to put final fantasy two in the list of games that I beat in the final fantasy series. Final fantasy one, final fantasy 2, final fantasy 4, final fantasy 7, final fantasy 8, final fantasy 10 and ten 2, and final fantasy 14 are all the games are beaten. So far😊

I played Final Fantasy 1 and 2 on the Gameboy back in the day. I barely remember anything about it, so this was a lot of fun for me. I had really hoped you would explain the complete version, though, where the dead heroes had to fight through heaven to destroy the aspect of the Emperor who had conquered that plain of existence as well. Only with the destruction of both versions of the Emperor could the world be saved. FF2 was definitely the hardest game in the series, imo. The characters who died were vastly under leveled for the dungeon they are thrown into, making that part of the game an endless series of game overs until you could grind them up to usefulness. FF1's fight against Chaos, though, was definitely one of the hardest non-optional bosses in the entire series, though.

A great game with a great story. FF is not always a focus on magic, monsters and gods, they are simply "parts of the bigger picture". FF16 is a nice throwback to this type of story telling.

This was my introduction to final fantasy so long ago now. I was barely six when my uncle let me play it then before he devoted his time to the navy. Wanna know whats funny compared to then? This is more than capable to have a sequel if they want now since the franchise has come a very long way.

I actually liked the leveling system in FF2 and its story wasn't terrible. Personally, I wished more games had a similar, if more enhanced and refined take on it. Plus, there was that neat 'keyword' system that let you learn more about the world when you click the highlighted word/s.

FF2 is flawed but if you can get a handle on the leveling system it's not terrible... And the story, especially for the time, is ambitious as hell and its great!

I enjoyed the game very much tbh lol I think ff5 is the most underrated. Every other had a remake except 5 and 6 but 6 gets more talk than 5

Got back to playing ff2 after a while, and my memory was a bit hazy on the story. Thank you so much for this recap!

This was my 5th FF from the main series. I started from 7 to 9 then 1-6. 1&2 is pretty short. I actually liked 2. It destroyed my style of play (levelling up to OP through the game) because I didn't know who's staying and who's dying. I made the effort, then the character just leaves or dies. Fck. I'm glad we actually have a solid paladin through Cecil because I really liked Minwu. I really thought Minwu/Ricard were staying until the end. They had the main character vibe. Story and character development was a big step up from 1.

I am here watching this video because I missed the keyword airship before giving the mythril to the blacksmith and it basically locked me out of progression. 5 hours down the drain. So triggered by it because I had to restart. As I restarted I said screw it Ill watch a video about it. So here I am.

It's definitely something we would be open to and would like to do, although don't have any concrete plans at the moment! Maybe when we're finished with all the major Final Fantasy games.

No experience points. No classes. No jobs. The more you use a sword, the more effective you are with a sword. The more you cast fire, the more powerful the spell. The more damage you take, the higher your endurance and hp pools grow. It wasn't fine tuned and had issues, but it was ambitious as hell.

As much as the gameplay in FFII sucks, I do legitimately love the story.

I played this in my psp before but I didn't finish the game too bad😔

Psp version is the best version. The PR does have all the cheats, but the psp version was gorgeous, sounded great, and was the most balanced version without cheats. If only it has the music from PR
