The best thing about Samurai Jack is the transition from a kids show into an adults show after the long hiatus. Like they knew the fanbase weren't new kids who haven't seen the show before, they're the kids who loved the show before and are now adults. I had goosebumps every episode because of that thought. They did us right with Samurai Jack. They also hit hard in the feels with the adult AF story.

Like many, I was disappointed about the ending for Jack. But recently, after rewatching it, I learned that Genndy made the most appropriate ending for Jack. It may not be the most satisfying for fans to see the tragic bitter sweet ending, but it was a realistic ending for a surreal series. To show that not all heroes get that happy ending. Samurai Jack was no fairy tale but an epic hero like a Greek tragedy that transcends time and space.

This show is an absolute masterpiece. The perfect depiction of Good vs Evil. It's a long and dark road where the evil always outnumbers the good, with very little happiness to be experienced along the way. The fight will take everything from you, and you will question yourself constantly. Even in victory, you will be left with the overwhelming scars. But you have to fight, because you may be the only one standing in the way of evil. If you give up, evil wins. Aku represents our world today, and Jack represents what is needed to fix the world. We need a Jack in this world. Be that Jack.

The voice actor was actually a war veteran(forget which one) but they wrote the song because they knew Mako had cancer and they wrote it for him out of love and as a farewell. Also Greg Baldwin, who had been voicing Mako’s characters in video games ALREADY, took over for Iroh and Aku full time. Only thing he DOESNT do is perform leaves from the vine, because he said that’s Mako’s song and he doesn’t wanna take that away.

So one thing that bugs me here: by the time Jack first gets the Sword, his mom and dad are already incredibly elderly and then Jack fights Aku, gets sent to the future, etc. In the series finale, when Jack returns to the point right after he was sent to the future, his parents are young(relatively speaking) and healthy when he sees them again.

Maybe they aged quicker because of the evil in the world? And then when the evil disappeared, their sorrows and worries evaporated? Because they're actually not that old, Jack is 25 at that point, so they're like 50? Not very elderly, especially for the Japanese. So in the past, those wrinkles were just worry lines and the grey hair was out of fear and misery. 😝 Let's just accept that, to keep the magic alive eh

The show's shows logic makes no sense. Ashi should be able to exist because she is from a different timeline, Aku is still alive in the timeline where he rules the universe so Ashi should be fine. The reason why Jack didn't age is because he was sent to the future which caused the alternated time where Aku rules the universe.

Well, all was reverted back to the moment of the fight. Jack lost all memory of what happened except of Ashi because she came through the last portal into his real timeline. All that happened between the moment Aku *opened* the portal and Jack exiting Ashi's portal is gone, making the fight just continue as normal only with Jack's temporary memory of the future, his immortality (by original portal) and Ashi. After Aku was defeated, Ashi disappeared, making it obvious Jack's life and changes in the future disappear as well. Long story short, everything except Ashi's time spent in the past resumed to the current timeline after Aku was defeated.

This man is the embodiment of self-movivatio/determination. He found so many potential ways back to the past but they were all shattered by Aku, as if Aku was just toying with home until his sanity broke. But did it? No. Jack kept going and going, always seeking a way back, never questioning himself and his worth. To the point where he even convinced one if the daughters of the Evil Incarnate himself to take his side and fall in love with him. I think Jack is the best example of never giving up, EVER. It was sad though that he couldn't stay with Ashi since she is from the future and since he eradicated Aku, she no longer would've existed. If Jack deserved anything at ALL throughout his journey, it was definetly someone to be with, someone who he loves and who loves him back, to be happy with a special someone, but he couldn't even have something as simple as that.

The end of this story (so far) is legitimately gripping, in that you don't expect peace for Jack, but hope for it. The story of Samurai Jack is the quintessential story of a hero's journey, and so well done - him losing hope at many instances and gaining courage again. Jack shoulda escaped instead of saving the monks because going in the portal to stop Aku would save them anyway. I'm sure in the moment Jack didn't think that which honestly is a realistic angle. I'm sure after it's over and Jack realizes his mistake he slaps his forehead and yells "D'oh". The frame pans outwards as you can still hear the pained Echo's of Jack's d'oh as birds fly away from the area and the screen fades to dark, and the Episode Number is displayed followed by a part of the theme song before going to the credits, ending the episode.
