I saw this group in 1980. They sounded exactly as they sounded on their recordings. There can be no higher praise.

The Commodores were a great band. From Machine Gun to In The Pocket they put out some great music. Now I've heard Lionel's solo stuff and the Commodores stuff without Lionel, and I can safely say that neither Lionel nor The Commodores have ever recaptured the magic that they had as a band.

I get the impression this was a 1980 performance, partly cause of the repertoire itself. Out of all 6 guys, Walter Orange (drummer) was the only music major in school and it clearly shows here. He was, in my opinion, a prodigy. Excellent group of guys with genuine talent.

Jesus ls Love is one of my favorite song by the Commodores. This group is one of my favorite groups. Their music made a cross over into pop, rock as well as the R&B. Truly the Commodores one of the top groups of all times. Their music will live on will be enjoyed for future generations to come. ❤😊

There's ALOT of white groups deserving also, what about Journey? All White, BETTER known worldwide than the Commodores. What about the CARS? All white.......the doobie brothers (must be the one black guy holding them back), Motley Crue, Bad company, Bon Jovi, the moody blues, the guess who, BTO.....ALL white.....def leppard, jethro tull, sammy hagar, ted nugent, ....hey guess what color THEY all are......they are all that "privileged color" you know where the cops just wave us on when we're speeding, when we get to go to college for free, but we keep it a secret, and we get jobs without having to apply, and we play in the NBA.......oh wait that's YOUR racist domain.....and us whites get to have Dads in the home and us white males actually care for our kids AND their mothers......oh wait, those last two are true, not sarcasm like the others (have someone explain what sarcasm means). You POH oppressed peeples. Maybe the commodores just need to AX the hall if they can get in

That's not my point at all... But since you went there. .. What about the US government's secret take over of Hip Hop music? Their plan wasn't only to kill Rap Music but as it has been clearly revealed.. to also use this part of the industry to cause a mass depopulation of a certain existing ethnicity. Some artist such as Dirty O Bastard who was a former member of the WU TANG KLAN exposed it by openly speaking out. He even included how he was threatened and how attacks on his life were being directly made from George Bush the 2nd and his henchmen immediately afterwards. Moreover the threats forced him into hiding as he repetitively alerted people and told them these very words... ( if I end up dead .. George Bush killed me ).Where is he now? Tu Pak Sukar also spoke out about the illuminati take over as well and where is he? Of course ...guys were living on the edge with disfunctional choices regards to their crazy lifestyle ... But there's far better musical taste for food we can digest... Such as ( Michael Jackson ) or someone like ( Prince ) Now many... people say drugs was the cause of death but conventional wisdom suspects fowl play for obvious reasons. Before MJ's sudden departure. ... he too spoke out against executive corruption towards black artists in the music industry who he advocated for. Remember MJ fought and successfully bought back the rights to his masters from SONY and look at how he ended up. Prince through a lengthy legal battle as well won the rights to own his catalog from WARNER BROTHERS...and suddenly one month later... his life ended. Prince's body was found in an elevator. The song he wrote LET'S GO CRAZY. ..has a line in it like DON'T LET THE ELEVATOR BRING US DOWN. Anyway when he was asked by LA Reed during an interview what does that mean?. ... his reply was the elevator means going down to Hell where the Devil is. Finally there's more strange things surrounding Prince's death that further certifies the obvious. .. 2008 in an episode of the SIMPSON ' S Tree House of Horror XIX ... Homer Simpson goes on a celebrity killing spree and one of the character's he kills happens to be Prince. .. Some coincidence?... I don't wanna seem like a conspiracy theorist... Plus I don't believe in such thing called RACE WAR either. ... But I would rather believe that there's an ERASE WAR in stead. That's take our attention away from things which are more important in life and keep us all stupidly dumb to the point of fighting each other over worthless means. You love good music and so do I. That matters more and has a sound without color.... At the end of the day what makes us happy does matter and is to be respected in safe and satisfying ways upon which we can both relate. A peace of mind and days where good health holds environmentally firm with us all. That too can all be found in the music we hear.

Lionel Richie playing saxophone...trippy. I recall him once saying that the Commodores used to get blown off stage regularly as the opening act for the Jackson 5 while they got their own sound and show together. Never let it be said he didn't pay his dues as a musician en-route to mega-stardom.

1981 Concert!!! When Lionel Richie was STILL with the Commodores..Should have changed nane if babd to Lionel Richie with The Comm9dores instead of total break apart...Am STILL a big fan of Lionel Richie as singer, songwriter, producer, humanitarian, Dad,mentor & judge on American Idol. In 1971, I won expense paid trip with Backstage passes to NYC on our local radio station. I first saw the Commodores in Concert with a dozen yellow roses when they opened for Jackson Five whom I had red dozen roses for... Every year after such,, ( loved it when they opened for Rolling Stones, one year)..but I saw them in upstate....but all over NY sometimes traveling the Northeast.. In 1982 Since Lionel went out on his own, ditto, went to see him at every concert I could till 2016 or so... I remember when JD from Heatwave replaced him....I was BIG BIG fan of funk & Motown back then , still am..& other bands ( Kool & the Gang, EW&F, AWB, KC, Temps, Drifters, Spinners, O Jay's, etc) LOVED Too Hot to Trot in movie. When Grease came out, Them.singing with Frankie Valli...So many concerts for years, always have dozen roses, found it easier to meet them doing security up there in Upstate NY but no more. Was in Commodores 1970s, Lionel's original 1980's fan club,, as am both in his Official Fan Club as well as North American Fan Club group on Facebook. Been big big fan since 1971 in NY, now semi retired in South Florida. LIONEL RICHIE is in concert in Vegas but.Gold VIP tickets are $1500!!! Plus airfare and hotel- how long time fans can afford such is beyond me..*****Wish I could find benefactor ( or be able to sell some of my life's accumulations of things or if LIONEL SAW this as he gets get so many personal tickets- in November, he is in Atlanta OR August Rock n Roll Hall of Fame Inductees concert OR EVEN NEXT year's Jazzfest) to pay for tickets and backstage passes but I can dream. I'd babysit Sylvester during show or keep Lisa Parigi company or yearly concert tickets, would WEED his Rose Garden or..*****I lost my autographs, photos, programs, Commodores, Lionel collection in house fire in 1991...*****Since 2010 Neither Lionel nor Commodores tour in Fort Myers area at Hertz Arena in Estero nor Barbara B Mann as Diana Ross, Temps, Santana with Earth Wind & Fire or Seminole Casino sure do.
