Спорт

Perhaps the game would’ve been different had Kentucky had their centers available but that also means the way Kentucky would’ve run their offense and defense would’ve been different too and thus it’s not a clear cut answer as to who is winning every time Could Kentucky win? Absolutely. I believe on any given night, blue blood programs can match up and it’ll go either way most of the time but I don’t think it guarantees Kentucky has a win every single time like most Kentucky fans think That’s not to say Kansas is perfect either, they found themselves in a large deficit due to poor shooting and had almost no help from their bench players and had to rely on 4 of their 5 starters having big games to stay in it I’m a Kansas fan but even I can call out my team for things that I hope they improve and I’m sure they will as Bill Self is one of the greatest coaches and is still figuring out what works and doesn’t with this group he has this year Either way, it was a great game and I hope both teams have great seasons

Obviously there aren't any guarantees, but the game would've 100% been different at least in this game plan Self is getting praised for. HD would have to defend a 7 footer and not Thiero, and surely you'd agree it would've been tougher for him to 27 pts and a million rebounds when's he not battling two dudes he's got half a foot in height on. I think HD missed 3 shots all night. Given what Self was doing in keeping HD in the paint and somewhat forcing UK to take low % shots - Cal screwed up by not swapping DJ and Edwards for Dillingham and Shepherd. Both the starters combined for 5 pts. The latter two play half the minutes and out scored the starters 31-5. Shame on Cal for not adjusting accordingly.

I'm sure many NBA are doing this type of match up strategizing, but it was an important part of the Celtics defense with Time Lord...he would guard a non shooter or corner only shooter rather than the big guy continually getting put in PNR. All about putting your guys where they are most successful!

the only reason they could play that defense is due to UK's lack of size atm. if UK was full strength in this game. i dont think its close. 1 of two thing is true. UK is really good. or KU are frauds.

I just don't think it mattered as much as you say it did. Uk still had multiple open shots end of game and just missed.

Let's not act like it took some sort of strategic genius to beat Kentucky. Kansas was the #1 team in the country and had a preseason All American Center vs Kentucky having to play a SF at C cuz their 3 Centers on the roster were either hurt or screwed by the NCAA refusing to rule on his eligibility. Kansas was WAY bigger, WAY more experienced, and shot 36 FT attempts, yet Kentucky still looked like the better basketball team and led for most of the game. Kentucky proved they're better than their ranking showed against all odds and Kansas looked slightly underwhelming

Let's not act like Kansas was WAY bigger. They have 1 big guy. And lets not act like Kentucky didn't also shoot over 30 free throws. And lets not act like Kentucky did this against all odds. the entire team is 5* recruits (Pretending they are some sort of scrappy underdog is nonsense). But you are correct. KU is not a great team. They will be in the hunt for the title but they are not dominant.

@@RandyJohnson-pi8gs Kansas has a very real chance to be dominant title contenders but it's clear they still have some work to do, which is okay and normal at this point in the season. And yes, Kansas IS way bigger. Kansas has 6 players as big or bigger than Kentucky's biggest guy. Kentucky's 5 is a SF. Kansas's 5 is a 4 year elite level starter at the highest level and is 7'2" 260 lbs. Kentucky's players being 5 star recruits does not change the fact that almost all of them have played 2 career games in college, let alone faced a team like Kansas. Kansas is a very experienced team to the contrary
