I think it’s justifiable if they both given a gold..the difference could be negligible in that kind of race

I feel that there should be a rule that in such long distance events, anything less than a second (or not visible to the human eye), should be considered a shared placing -- there is no meaningful difference in their finishing times. Both should have received gold medals.
