For diamon leauges you might as well give people a second chance. Its not a world championship, there's only one race.

I agree to an extent but the problem is that it would encourage false starts and slow down the pace of the meet

No. These are elite athletes. You don't get second chances in elite sport. Not to mention, the Americans would simply resume their weaponization of false starts AND it would slow the schedule.

@@jessemcmillan997 I don't think so. It used to be two chances before and people weren't consecutively deliberately false starting. For a ten or twenty second race it doesn't take much time to reset. And sometimes they spend more time reviewing the footage than it would have taken to just reset. I'd be in favor of a red card for moving before the gun and a yellow card/ warning if the movement is after the gun. That would stop instances like the Devin Allen and Julien Alfred situations where they were disqualified for 0.99 and 0.95s respectively. I'm also saying this for meets where the event is only ran once, there's no heats or semi-final.

Shelly was dominating all of 2022 running 10.6s all over the world. She had a slight hamstring discomfort and ran this race after her coach felt her injury wasn't gonna affect her. So this race was in fact one where wasn't at 100%. Shelly then went on to win the Diamond League final in a time of 10.65 while running into a head wind. THAT is Shelly at 100%.

@@NevaUndaPressure Being at the starting line doesn't mean you are 100%. Common sense should tell you that Shelly at a 100 last year was running 10.6s. Anything less than that means she's having an issue. But common sense isn't that common these days...
