The women’s boulders were unfortunately a lot less interesting than the men’s.

Also about the guest climbers from other countries, male has a lot of WC finalist but female doesn't. It's certainly a good thing having strong guests from abroad so you can tell the levels of what they are climbing. It seems to me ultimately the intensities of the female boulders weren't quite leveled enough for those athlete ladies to have their preparation done for this season WC.

Yea, this seems unfortunately common at a lot of comps that mens' boulders seem to have way more thought and energy put into them

I agree! And I am typically way more psyched to watch the women compete.

"Love" it when events continue to show the absurdity of the four minute rule...

I like the rule that if the athlete started the attempt before time expiration, it should count as a valid attempt. And if they are worried that is possible for a climber to find a good rest position on the boulder and take forever to do the last attempt, maybe they could add an additional timer of few minutes for the last attempt.

@@draganandrei5356 This was the case years ago and I loved it. But it was a problem for slabs, because climbers could just get up and catch their breath. So I think the four minute rule should just be the way it is; if the clock runs out you're done.

With the greatest of respect for Shauna's climbing career and knowledge, her commentary style is to say too much, too quickly, for too long. Exhausting to listen to.

Have to agree. Between the two commentators there was hardly 5 seconds when one of them wasn't talking. The audience, I expect, are mostly climbers who don't need constant explanations.

That she's boring as paint. Benign observations, every boulder was apparently not Molly's style. Total yawn fest. Not a single syllable spoken with any interest.

@@mw5360 Okay, here's my take on Shauna. She routinely "over" commentates. She talks and talks and talks. She doesn't let the "climbing" be the center of the presentation. Do you recall her co-hosting gig with Matt Groom during the IFSC World Cup. She just "dominated" the airwaves and would barely let Matt say a word. Matt is brilliant in his finesse; he adds as needed but lets the climbing "be" center stage. I would literally mute the broadcast so I could concentrate on the comp. As you can hear in this broadcast she is still doing it. Just "so much" talk. Perhaps it's a nervous habit, just talking as consequence of her jitters. She needs to learn the skill of "less is better" in commentating this sport. For now I just pray she isn't picked up to commentate for the Olympics. Gosh, that would be a disaster.
