"White man in Hammersmith Palais" is a great early Clash track. Nice sound. Starts off at an all night reggae gig with artists from Jamaica, then explores the state of the UK at the time.

They were nicknamed "The only band that matters" for a reason. They woke up an entire generation to what was going on in the world and influenced everyone from U2 to rap groups like Public Enemy. Every major rock band of the past 40 years really wants to be The Clash. It doesn't have to be for the channel, the video for Tommy Gun is worth watching on your own time. Watching Joe Strummer sing his heart out will make you an instant fan.

Sex Pistols, The Clash and The Damned are the three big iconic UK Punk bands. I would recommend, The Damned's - New Rose, Plan 9 Channel 7, Neat Neat Neat or Melody Lee. Love all three of the bands mentioned, but The Damned will always be my top choice.

One of my favorite Clash songs. Their first 2 albums were the best, then they started down the reggae road like almost every other punk band did. The Anarchist band Crass mentioned them in one song: "The name is Crass/not Clash/ they can stuff their punk morality/ it's them that take the cash". All of this aside, I also like Clash's version of "I Fought the Law" and "The Guns of Brixton".

That's what I loved about Joe. He really meant what he said in songs like this. And it was right. And no one else was saying it. Here we are 50 years later and there are still not enough anti-war voices.

Dude I know I'm killing you commenting on all these songs but man your hitting on so much music that I've loved so much for so long, if you dig this once again I've got some songs for you to check out. The clash are fuckin timeless amd amazing they were 1st band to ever take a dj out on tour with them as a opening act, this was in the early 80s late late 70s. They had been spending time in New York and got pulled into the early early scene which was the beginning of the hip hop scene, it was seen on some of their later stuff. The Guns of Brixton, this songs lyrics are as hard as any gangsta rap that came out, it's one of the 1st songs I ever noticed that had any kind of influence from what would become hip hop. They were big reggae freaks and it shows in alot of their music really a political band as well. Armageddon Time is a fuckin amazing song Bank robber Police and Thieves Train in Vain Rock the cashbah Should I stay or should I go Jimmy jam I fought the law Dude they have so many great great songs. You cant go wrong with the Clash London Calling is awesome, actually I have the album cover of London calling tattooed on my arm, they were big influence on my music, but I'm a big fan of the 70s british punk and glam stuff. Anyway check it out it's worth the listen. The magnificent 7 This is radio clash Clampdown White man in hammersmith palais Know your rights
