Yeah the ' Syndrum/ Arcade sounds ' don't add much ....but it's one of their weakest singles , that was only in their Live set for a few months ..... ( i don't think Joe or Paul would regard themselves as 'fantastic musicians' ! )

I love this clip. I saw it when it first aired way back in the day. Much respect goes to Tom Snyder for putting The Clash on his program. I can't think of many other tv shows that would have had them on at the time.

So happy I had an older brother. Growing up in the 80's I could have been kidnapped by horrible dance music but my brother exposed me to the Clash, REM etc. Thank God!

Sadly missed this the first time around as my local NBC (?) affiliate had preempted the Tom Snyder Show that night in order to show a Boston Red Sox baseball game (they were playing on the west coast, hence the late hour). danielscissorhands stayed up to watch this episode to see the Clash. This was during the Bond Casino concerts on Broadway, when the Clash made the news and sold out the venue, which over-sold the show. The fire department got involved and the Clash doubled their show to accommodate their fans!!!! I was there 2 times.

I think this is just before they started the gigs at Bond‘s in New York City epic two week residence when New York City fire Department tried to shut them down and they booked more shows to make sure everybody that had a ticket could go I went to seven shows and got them fired up on cognac back stage
