The Clash were a brilliant band but let's not forget most of us felt, of all the bands around at the time, they blatantly sold out for the dollar and stadium rock.

Nick could do it all...him and Stewart Copeland were the 2 best drummers of the "punk rock" genre. You get a drummer like Nick or Stewart in the driver's seat and there is nothing you can't achieve musically.

@@andylowe1517 Yes he was and still is. He's very animated behind the, lotsa fun to watch, and he hits hard, has rock solid timing and great chops. He's one of my faves...I like Bun E Carlos as well, he's the American Ringo.

@@lejlatiric7037 The Sex Pistols where definitely not the first Punk band but they were a part of the first official wave of punk bands. The Stooges where a big influence on the punk genre howevr they weren't a punk band they where A Garage rock band that was a heavy influence on the genre we know today. other bands influenced this and are now seen as "Proto-punk" bands associated with this term includes The Stooges, MC5, The Velvet Underground, Patti Smith etc...

These guys were electrifying and had more energy that any band around today.

@@superpotiron He wrote Rock the Casbah (the music) and played bass and piano on it as well as the drums. So yes, he is the most talented musician. :-)

This is one of those defining moments in a person's life. You're never the same after you watch this. I know I have never been.

The Clash are on frikken FIRE here! SO glad they came to scuzzy old Christchurch NZ back in '82, where I got to see them at the town hall. Such a buzz - still unequaled to this day!

Christchurch is not scuzzy.(never been there,) Loved someone from there a lot Pull your pants up and get on with it. Why would they stop and play there, if there wasn’t an audience They are unequal to others Much love to a clash fan in the southern hem. x

The Clash and The Specials live back then were totaly fantastic performers .

One of those few times I can say 'I was there'. Great gig, brilliant band. Lewisham Odeon, biggest and best auditorium South of the River, and they pulled it down...

I’ve regretted for 42 years not seeing them live. RIP Joe.

@@brianjones6613 ain’t seen the Beatles would love to. We did McCartney at Birmingham in 2015. He rocked. Unlike Dillon in Liverpool who lived up to his reputation of being fickle.

I was at this gig and it was AMAZING. One of the best gigs I have ever seen

I was lucky to have seen the Clash. But never in my life have I worked for 'The Clampdown.' Although I do sometimes wear blue and brown.

It always amazes me the power Topper generates considering what a petite man he is!

My Dad saw The Clash when he was young. Said him and his buddies tried to risk smoking a jay real quick in the lot between songs. Back then, sound regulations were pretty much non-existent. Halfway through their joint The Clash fired up with this and he said his buddy went to say 'Oh Shit!' but all he saw was his lips moving, The Clash were absolutely deafening, even from the parking lot. And my Dad played them at no other volume when i was growing up.

Growing up in New Zealand and lovin* the clash I can still remember this footage being shown on a late night music show called radio with pictures , I was 17 at the time , London calling hadn’t been out that long , it was a special time in music history, it’s funny how some things stay strong in your memory .

The greatest band ever. I am so pissed I was not around to see this fantastic group live. 'The real deal'. Too many damn phonies today. I now see a lot of people dressing punk, a lot of talk but little to back it up. ❤️

Saw them in Toronto, September 1982.

My brother turned me on to the Sex PISTOLS, The Dammed,the Romones,and alot more great Punk bands,and still to this day listen to punk music on daily basis..God bless my brother's soul,, he passed away on June 22,2022

I saw Adam & The Ants there in 1980. The first three rows of seats got trashed.

This was the first time I saw them, it was special.

I was there too. Had to buy a tout ticket but probably the best £20 I ever spent.

Great band,,,Rock the Casbah was the sellout album among the Punks & hard core fans like myself, but you know there were some good tunes on that album. Very influential band over the year sand I still love listening to them..
