As a youth, I have had the extreme pleasure and experience of singing under the direction of Dr. Mattie Moss Clark. I was in a workshop choir with her in Florida. I am a soprano, but she threw her shoe at an alto choir member for being off key.Chiiile, it must have traumatized me, cause I don’t think I’ve sang off key since that day😄. Back in the day, choir directors were like sports coaches or military captains. They were tough, brutally honest, and unaccepting of anything less than the best. They yelled, they threw things, but there was NO DISRESPECT, NO FRAGILE EMOTIONS or BRUISED EGOS. You took the heat and gave your best. Nowadays, folk (old n young) are so sensitive and weak. Can't take nothing without getting an attitude or quitting.

So much was missed, but I was satisfied watching The Clark Sisters. Perhaps you have more extensive knowledge about their careers and personal lives than I do.
That shoe flying 😂😂😂
Dr.Mattie Moss Clark!!❤ Choir Director Extraordinaire!❤ RIP Queen!
This movie was simply AMAZING!! smiled, shed tears, and found INSPIRATION in ONE movie!! I LOVE THE CLARK SISTERS!
"You understand me, Ms gum chewer" 🤣🤣🤣
I saw the title and I knew in my bones it was going to be a clip about the shoe throwing, because chewing gum in choir rehearsal is a huge no-no, LOL. That shoe throwing by Dr. Mattie Moss Clark is *legendary* and not just in COGIC churches, either. I will say, though, that if any of my choir directors had ever thrown a shoe at anyone that would've been the day I quit the choir.

Back in the day in Brooklyn, you would've been leaving choir after choir. I've sung with the NY State Mass Choir, Hezekiah & Love Fellowship, James Hall WAP, Voices of Unity & a few other of the local choirs. Every single director was off their rocker... but we sang our butts off tho

I would've still sang in the choir. Some people don't like to obey and, hard headed.

@@diva70smusic Kids today, you can't say anything to them.
"Do you understand me, Ms. Gum chewer?" 😅😂 lmao! Also, the shoe throwing.
I had the privilege to sit in on one of her rehearsals during the cogic convocation in Memphis TN. I didn't witness any shoe throwing... Lol... But she was a total perfectionist.

Wow
Lord was this such a powerful and insightful movie into the lives of one of the greatest Gospel groups there is. I've never shed so many tears watching one movie. Tears of joy and tears of sadness. I pray that the dynamic trio of producers, Queen Latifah, Mary J Blidge and Missy Elliott team up again and do another inspirational movie like this again. I made sure that I recorded it so that I can watch it over and over again.
This is a time where we definitely need this movie. The Clark Sisters are legendary but yet just like any other family. Can't wait for the movie! 😌✨💜
They definitely had the right momma to play this role. Yessssssssssss
Aunjanue Ellis should have won a golden globe, emmy and whatever else tv award for her performance. She did an amazing job
I can't wait to see this movie !
