The Civic Type R is Nucking Futs - Civic Type R Review! (finally)

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

My detail brand! - pattersoncarcare.com/
The Honda Civic Type R in no matter what form is a legend. It defies the laws of front wheel drive, it feels in control, and doesn't feel like a gimmick with a badge slapped onto it. The 2017 and 2018 Civic type R is a car that is so easy to drive fast I could have sworn I was not in a "Honda." For this Type R review I took a different approach, and took on a brand new Acura NSX on some back roads. Thanks for watching!

I bought a blue one two months ago. Other than the lack of exhaust note - I fucking love the car. Definitely will be getting an aftermarket exhaust though. How you like the shifter? My single favorite feature. Its one of the best shifters I've ever personally used.

Dislikes the new Camaro that has an ACTUAL functional front end (which is fair). But then says “Everything on this car, visually, is functional” bahahaha yupp those massive closed vents front and back are totally functional dude 😂😂😂😂

I got mine a couple of months ago, and I honestly have to place this as the best car I've ever driven. Don't mind it is front wheel drive because you can always upgrade it to perform, and I don't mind the muffled exhaust, I enjoy driving and getting compliments everywhere I go. Type R for the Win

Thank you for your video, you describe the Type R excellently and with enthusiasm. I have mine in blue and I've got to say it lives up to the hype. A very difficult car to find fault with. When you aren't going nuts and having fun in it, it's sedate and tame for the trip to the grocery store. Loads of room all round for passengers and luggage. So nuts when you are in the mood and a great family car too.

I feel that 2018 was the perfect place for Honda to bring their Performance model to America, as with Ford with their Focus RS, and Volkswagen with their Golf R. While the Type R is still a FWD, which is perfect that Honda stuck with their history, however like everyone else they went Turbocharged, and when paired along with Honda's amazing VTEC system, it makes an amazing performance model to compare with today's Hatches. So i believe Honda did an amazing thing making us wait for another Type R model, and i absolutely love this car

Been lusting to review one myself for quite some time. Glad you got to sample it! I must admit I am missing that n/a VTEC sound. And man, it's quiet. It's the same gripe I had with the hatchback sport. You get those nice twin pipes out the back on that one, but again no sound. Under the radar yes, but with looks like that you need just a hint of obnoxious to go with it.

I am very glad it is still FWD, Honda engineered an amazing front suspension assembly along with a great differential. In my personal opinion, the civic is more pure with FWD than AWD. The new civic doesn’t need all wheel drive. However, although the styling is for function (which is very important in my view), I do hope the next type R civic gets a redesign. :)

They need a Toyota type engine setup with occasional port injection to keep the back of the valves clean. There will be long term issues as with all direct injection only setups.

Ricardo Rivera it is indeed. The FK2 was essentially a prototype for the FK8 and the only real difference is the independent suspension setup on the 10th gen platform over the torsion beam in the older car.

I just passed 10K miles on my Type R. I share the same sentiment, too quiet. I even did a muffler delete and its still extremely quiet. But that is the only real negative I have with the car so far. Going to get Hondata Tune at some point which might make more issues show up with the increase in power. Great review!

Motortrend just released a comparison. The type R beat the RS , golf R and STI RA on the track lol. www.motortrend.com/cars/honda/civic/2018/ford-focus-rs-honda-civic-type-r-volkswagen-golf-r-subaru-wrx-sti-type-ra-comparison/ the uncivil Civic accelerated from 0 to 60 in 5.0 seconds and finished the quarter in 13.7 seconds at 105.9 mph, second to the Ford. Even more impressive is the Type R’s acceleration numbers after 60 mph; from 0 to 70 through 100 mph, the Type R was the quickest car of the group. The Honda stopped shorter than any other car in our test, too, needing 99 feet to stop from 60 mph, and it tied the Focus RS’ 24.3-second figure-eight lap and its 0.79 g average.

Let them do that again when the track is wet. the EUDM GEN2 Focus RS was also faster in the dry than the Evo and STI a decade ago. Difference with the new type R, that Gen II Focus RS was faster on a lot of tracks, not just one just to spin the odd in favour of the Honda Fanboys. I like the Type R a lot, but the price is ridiculous today. not to mention the sloppy finish of some parts like the parking sensors that are not there but look like they are because the trim is unchanged.

  • @Fadic4

    @Fadic4

    6 жыл бұрын

Neo VeNoM why are you talking about stuff from a decade ago? lol. Another channel on KZread tested the same cars and the type r won again... It's lighter. It's power to weight ratio is better than the RS and STI. And you're seriously going to talk shit about the parking sensors not being there when ford was installing the wrong headgasts on the RS. What a joke you ford fangirls are. Let's also forget about the overheating rear differential which pretty much leaves the focus a fwd car when the awd system is used too much. Good thing that the majority of people that do track days are in state where the weather is usually dry... The only reason id get the RS over the type r is if I lived in a heavily snow region. Other than that winter tires with the LSD are more than adequate for most people. The focus is getting discontinued in North America anyways because of how shity Ford cars are as daily drivers.

GETUP AND GO The build quality wasn't up to what they were charging. Looking closely at mine, I found that there was trim that was unaligned with the rest of the car. Plus hearing owners complaining about 1st and 2nd gear crunch made me worry. But nothing made me more worried than hearing about the overheating issues. I just didn't want to drive mine anymore because it was a stress bomb. It wasn't enjoyable to drive anymore.
