I can't agree unfortunately, even though Riddick is an absolute badass. This game is from 2009, by that time Mass Effect has been out for almost 2 years, and Mass Effect 2 was right around the corner. But it may be a cheap shot to compare it to those games, so heres something else - Prey came out in 2006, and this has heavy Prey vibes, and that game has better graphics than this.

im glad someone knows how to play a Riddick game because some people forget that Riddick’s specialties are his Eye shine and Stealth i saw someone play Escape From Butcher Bay using flashlights thats not how you play a Riddick game the Eye shine is an ability for a reason.

Yeah, I think especially the first game was a surprise hit. Games based on movies usually don't end up being as good as these two.

Are both games on disc for ps 3 dark athena?

For a game without sights you are a darn good shot! Also, I was noticing a lot of similarities to "The Darkness" with the story, graphics and light play so I looked it up and sure enough, both were made by Starbreeze studios! =)

Just finished watching the Escape From Butcher Bay playthrough. Now looking forward to this one.

What I like about these games are: you don't have a pointer to objectives, you have to figure them out yourself; Bonus objectives too. There's no mini map so it is a challenge to navigate and use your mental note to map everywhere you go.

I watch it like it's a movie.

remember when this game came out. Butcher Bay was kinda a hidden gem when it came out but eventually it got the recognition it deserved. I was thrilled when Dark Athena came out and yeah it gave us more of what we wanted.. but it was a big gap between this game and the first, and i feel like there were other big releases around the same time so it didn't get the same amount of love i feel like. i will say as cool as it was and how improved the gameplay and graphics were, it just didn't have as good a story as Butcher's Bay imo. I still played it through twice though hah. it's just so fun being Riddick. How cool would a new Riddick game be? i'd love to see a Riddick game that was based more on aspects of the Chronicles of Riddick movie. the necromongers and their culture were always really compelling to me. as was the scorched prison planet

this is another one of those games I want to see remastered and then returned to game stores these are those games you enjoy playing for many reasons they are dark and fun . Silent Hill games are ones I also would enjoy seeing rebooted I'm such a horror fan getting to explore places and killing monsters and enemies oh of course the weapons using them . Splinter Cell Chaos Theory , James Bond Everything Or Nothing , The Thing , Tomb Raider , Killer Instinct , Quake , Dead Or Alive , Conker Live And Reloaded , Halo , Mortal Kombat , Resident Evil Biohazard , Aliens , These and others are worth playing experiences gamers enjoy in kill or be killed moments you often choose to survive and kill another day sometimes blending in is good to avoid being noticed by others .

So I'm just wondering how these events lead up to him getting captured by Johns again and bleeds into Pitch Black? Johns was gassed and taken somewhere at the start and that's that. Then this girl. Plots left unanswered if they are meant to be canon to the movies. Otherwise great gameplay and expert control and knowledge of everything. Perfectionist's dream right here.

Yeah, what happens with Johns is left to our imagination, I guess, all we know is that he somehow survives since he's alive in Pitch Black. And yes, what happens in both games is canon.

Man I used to complete the Bay and the Athena games more than a few damn times. And I fuckin dont understant why (since Vin prefers to play in those shitty fast n furious movies rather than Riddick) they aint at least make the games for us. Those games are soooooo damn good and climatic. The visuals were so ahead of the times they were released. I love em

Yes, I played it on PC. I bought it on GOG when it was still available there.

Can't activate this gem anymore... Tages has to be installed manually on Windows 11, and, when you did that, the Tages client can't connect and activate the game anymore. What a shame. Once of my absolute favorites, and really the only game I can't get to run on Windows 11.

🏆 Never saw Dark Athena until today. I have to say Butcher Bay is much more interesting. Still good to see Riddick in action, most likely the last Chronicles game too! Starbreeze studios is not the same gamemaker from its heyday... 😭

@@patologTV I wish someone would continue it. Starbreeze is pretty much dead now. All they have to market is the payday franchise.

I love this game, but there's a few things that bothers me: You can't sprint in single player. This is disrespect the character. Riddick is superhuman, he should be able to sprint faster than human for long distances. Same with the climbing speed. He climbs obstacles, walls and ladders at slow speed, and on top of that the camera goes third person when you do it, ruining the experience. I suppose that if they ever do a sequel or remake, this things would be fixed.

They need to make a Remaster for this game.

I wanted to like it but it is too hollywood badass tropey along with adult using edgy lines with a kid. The story is less than mediocre and too many loose ends, apparently Johns is killed in the very beginning. There are no reason for Riddick to not kill Revas(2:36:48) and then he even enters an escape pods while leaving the girl Lynn in that ship. Once you know how the basic premise is surrounding Riddick and you can easily predict every single character is going to die whoever helped or talked to him. Lynn's Mother Silverman helps break the grating for Riddick and having served her purpose she is killed off. You can just blindly write the script for this particular Riddick game.
