My husband and I have always loved John Michael Talbots music. We grew up in the 70's. My husband and I went to see him at St. Louis Church in Memphis a few years ago while we were still Baptist and during the service he told us to pray and ask for the healing we needed. I am a nurse and my left knee had bad arthritis and swelling and was painful and God healed my knee instantly 100 percent and it has never bothered me since. Glory to Jesus Christ! That whole evening was such a sweet time of worship. In a humorous turn, I remember the opening prayer having Mary and we looked at each other like ,"here go these Catholics about Mary." Now that we have converted we say it every Sunday and sure love our Blessed Mother, especially now that we understand Marian dogma and theology. I am constantly telling Our Blessed Mother about the lack of wine in loved ones lives and asking her to ask her Son to provide it:) Who would have ever guessed I would be praying the rosary?! The Lord sure has a sense of humor. I know being Catholic and living the sacramental life is the greatest treasure the Holy Spirit has ever led us too and I thank John Michael Talbot for himself and his music being part of that journey home.

Amazing testimony JMT! I too had the 'flash' of my lived life consequences in a NDE - and the timeless Eternal Present - and experienced a glimpse of Our Lords mercy & Love which is incomprehendable and uncontainable to the human mind!

I discovered JMT only a few weeks ago on another channel. Now I see this. I'm listening right away! When I listen to his talks and teachings with his singing, it reminds me of the wonderful years I spent studying in Prague, I was going to an incredible Carmelite parish and their community and prayer groups. Combining the charismatic and mystical spirituality. It's the best of Catholicism that I know.

BTW. I had a conversion experience (as a lifelong Catholic) when I was 17, probably a similar one as the one JMT describes in his testimony, encountering God's love for the first time. And soon after that I found a St. Francis/St.Anthony medal and began reading about St. Francis. He just found me and became my first Saint companion on my new found journey. That's why I love JMT's Franciscan spirituality too!

I'm just like John in that I'm stuck on those early church writings from the Didache through Irenaeus of Lyon and yes, they are 100% the Catholic Church, however, I also have enjoyed reading about how the Reformation developed and evolved especially how certain beliefs and practices of Protestants evolved like the altar call, the sinner's prayer, inviting Jesus into your heart, once saved always saved, never saved in the first place, symbolic baptism and Eucharist for example. Thats where my study interest lies. The fullness of the faith with the Sacraments has healed and changed my life for the better by the grace of God through Christ. Praise God. Thanks for doing this video.

I love John Michael Talbott 🎶 music. I really love his deep and sincere devotion to God. I love the interesting interview however sincerely and respectfully disagree when he said that the scriptures came from the early church fathers. In Revelation 14 :6. It speaks about the Everlasting Gospel! So whether early church fathers or present day Christian believers, our lives Must be based on the Solid Rock of God's Word and everything else must flow from there. Ps. I totally agree that a lot of modern praise and worship service are nothing more than show and manipulation! By the way as a Seventh Day Adventist we go way back past the early church fathers back to father Abraham and the patriarchs. Actually even further than that we go all the way back to Adam and Eve walking in the cool of the day with Jesus/ God! In Jesus Most Precious and Most Holy name way way Way above All other names 🙏 Amen 🙏 Amen 🙏 Amen 🙏 Amen 🙏 Amen 🙏 Amen 🙏 Amen!!!!!!!

I started listening to CCM music back in late 80s. Discovered Keith Green, Larry Norman, Leslie Phillips. I always thought John Michael Talbot was Catholic since he dressed like a Friar.

Kept the volume off until I saw JMT.

Yes they do if the Rule of their monastic order permits it. This is one of those things where a definition was at some point simplified for children, and then the children grew up without comprehending that it's only part of the definition.

@@glennlanham6309there are about ten in the Catholic Church. Mostly in Europe. His community structure is based on old Celtic monasticism, which is different from what you might be used to. But his vocation was approved by Pope St. John Paul II. This is the only community like this in the United States, so it’s not surprising you haven’t seen anything like this before. Most are in Italy.

Protestant response. John Michael Talbot is an exceptional Christian and just a wonderful human being. He is probably one of the best representatives of the Church of Rome out there. His spiritual insights are remarkable. Of course Reformed Catholics (or Protestant) like myself have to respectfully reject several assumptions being made here. 1. Sorry I am not a non-Catholic. The universal or Catholic Church of which Christ is the head and is in fact the only church that exists includes ALL professing believers not just Roman Catholics. The Church of Rome and Christ’s church are not one and the same. 2. The fractious nature of Roman Catholicism today makes it difficult for Roman apologists to continue with the overused trope of how “divided” Protestantism is. 3. Many Protestants have spent years studying early church history (like myself) and have come to a far different conclusion namely that contemporary Roman Catholicism and the primitive church are in fact not the same. 4. The only conversion that matters is the the conversion to Christ. Conversion to Christ is not the same as conversion to Roman Catholicism or any particular denomination or Christian tradition. 5. local churches (organized and functioning according to the mind of Christ) around the world are the visible expression of Christ’s one church not solely the Pope and his bishops as fine a Christian as he no doubt is.

Not a non-Catholic= CATHOLIC…BUT you apparently don’t know that ALL members of the Church Christ founded are ONE, Holy universal & APOSTOLIC. There is nothing fractious about Catholic Church DOGMA…All faithful beliefs of its members which doesn’t exist between Protestant societies.

The historic Protestant theological formularies from the major branches of the Protestant tradition display remarkable unanimity. I have celebrated Holy Communion in all the branches of the Protestant traditions. We don’t exclude each other. You do exclude other Christians in a variety of ways. You even claim they are outside of Christ’s church. Protestants don’t do that. That makes you the sectarian not me. Blessings

1. The Catholic Church has never formally included "professing believers." Arians, Donatists, and many other historical heretics were "professing believers" yet still outside the Catholic Church. Closed communion goes all the way back to the Didache, Ignatius of Antioch, and Justin Martyr. No one has EVER claimed "The Church of Rome and Christ’s church are one and the same." The Church of Rome has unique authority, but it is not the whole of Christ's Church. Moreover, there are many Catholics who are not Roman Catholics but still in communion with the pope. There are many other Catholic rites other than Roman/Latin. You lose credibility what you misrepresent Catholicism like that. 2. Catholicism has ALWAYS had unity of governance and thus unity of doctrine/teaching, going back to the 1st and 2nd centuries. The fact that many have rejected her legitimate governance and doctrines today and throughout history says nothing about the unity of governance and doctrine. The fact of the matter is that even conservative confessional Protestants cannot agree on baptism, Eucharist, salvation, governance, etc. 3. I'd love to hear more about what you've studied and why you don't see the Catholic Church with the bishop of Rome as its earthly/visible head in those early centuries. Have you read the full works of the apostolic fathers? How do you respond to those passages that appear uniquely Catholic with respect to the papacy, Mary, the Eucharist, the episcopate, authority of apostolic Tradition, the authority of apostolic succession, etc. (assuming you are aware of all of them)? Guess I'll have to go back and read and respond to past comments you've left me on other videos regarding your denial of the monoespicopate. How on earth do you read Ignatius of Antioch and Irenaeus and come away thinking there was no monoespicopate in the 1st century?? 4. The early Church never considered conversion to Christ to be separate from membership in and obedience to His Church. The two always went together. Quotes from Irenaeus, Origen, Cyprian, and Augustine come to mind.... 5. NO ONE EVER CLAIMED THAT. Have you ever even taken the time to understand what the Catholic Church actually teaches about herself? How about reading the Catechism or Lumen Gentium? Again, you lose credibility as a critic when you misrepresent what Catholicism teaches. Popes and bishops in communion with him are pastors and governors but not the sole "visible expression of Christ’s one church."

Augustine (Letter 43, para. 12): "When a traveler comes to a strange town, and asks for the Catholic Church, no heretic will direct him to his own church; but, if he wishes to find the Catholic Church, he will point it out to him, and say, 'That is the Catholic Church.'" Augustine used this example to illustrate how even heretics recognize the authenticity and authority of the Catholic Church, and how they often try to imitate it or claim to be part of it, but ultimately fail to lead others to the true Church.

He really has no clue why people are flocking to traditional Latin masses. I know his ego is hurt because many people don't like his music, but his assessment was completely off.

We love the traditional latinmass for the completeness, depth, and beauty of the litergy and music. It's like going from black and white to color. I could never go back to the mediocre, dumbed down and modern mass called norvos mass (new order).
