I believe Adele, Beyoncé, Lady Gaga, etc… should all slide over and save a seat for you! Like I said - you’re a motherfuckin’ Geeeeee…💪🤘🎶😎♥️

A lovely conversation! I hope to hear more live music from you. You are a phenomenal singer, no questions about that, but comparing studio recordings to the live videos on KZread (with Ren or just yours), there is something magical in the live ones. I think Chris has it when he talks about inhabiting a character. It comes through much stronger in the live versions. And like I said, magical! Thank you for taking the time to do this! Ps. This is coming from a metalhead ;) Great music and great art is not limited by genres ;)

I contacted Chinchilla to ask for a collab for my electronica music. I asked thinking nah she won't get back to me. She did infact get back to me she said it wasn't for her but I was blown away that she took the time to listen and actually get back to me. She will forever have my respect. She had no obligation to reply or even entertain the prospect. Very gracious and genuine person.

The slow fuse that is recognition finally hit the explosive that is Chinchilla. So glad to see her getting the recognition she deserves. I hope "new music" continues to recognize that authenticity, emotion, rawness, and performance is so much better than generic auto-tuned computer altered "perfect" music. "Run little Girl .... Yeah I just recently rediscovered reaction channels. I kind of lost my interest for music since the only thing that would reach me was radio music. Its so bland and boring. Went to listen to Hi Ren again (heard it on release, but didnt dive into his whole artistry) and just startad to watch others react to it like a month ago. I now love music again! I'm so happy to have something to sing in the shower again!

2mho Chinchilla & Ren besides their chemistry represent artists of a new era... funnywise close to the spirit of musicians of the 60ies & 70ies: inventing a new style and being very close to their audience... multimedia experts from the scratch and dealing with topics of vulnerability where they draw their strengths from... so their success comes from their followers and not from an artificial concept of a major label... 🤟

She is so great ❤, I can understand what she means about being more terrified when busking vs being on stage in an arena. When I used to sing on stage it always felt like it was just me and the band, between the lights being in your face I couldn't usually even see the crowd. But being on the street or even in really small clubs I always got more nervous because I was always more aware of the audience, it was so much more intimate which always made me feel 100 times more self conscious.

  • @Melly01

I identify with Chinchilla being more uncomfortable busking at first. I do community theater (a full house is 250 people, lol), but I've also done storytelling, where I remain stationary and groups of up to 20 (but sometimes as few as 2) come to hear my story. I'll do it 10-15 times per night and the fewer people there are, the harder it is. The more personal it is. It's like ... with 250 people - not a stadium - there are bound to be a few people who don't care for what you put on stage. It just seems so much more hurtful when you did a "performance" for 2 people, you looked them in the eyes for 7-10 minutes and they walk away not enjoying your offering. Much as Chinchilla stated, two different skillsets. Acting and storytelling are two different things. I don't sing, but I get it! :)

What a fantastic interview!! You are a really, really good interviewer if you ever think of starting an interview channel I’d sub straight away. Great questions, great engagement and just the right amount of letting the interviewee talk and jumping in to help nudge along their thought process. Also what a brilliant woman Chinchilla is, very open and down to earth. Loved every second of it. Thank you very much

I'm probably the only person who came to listen to Chinchilla that never really heard Ren. Chinchilla is probably the best example of "now we move into the future".

Isn't it refreshing to see an interviewer that speaks the language and understands the processes involved? Fascinating to watch. Genuine and honest from both Chris and Chinchilla. A great watch.

She's wonderful, and up until I discovered Ren and through him, Chinchilla, I was despairing because everything sounded the same. You keep doing what you do so well girl, I love it and I love the Dickensian ragamuffin look you have going, loved it first time around with Haysee Fantaysee and McLaren and you have given it your own twist....what an epic voice too!

I love the "wrong" notes, I want to hear the nuances in people's voices, we connect to them more then some tinny sounding auto-tuned pop star. I'm absolutely loving Chinchilla's stuff, and Ren as well, of course. I don't think I've listened to the radio in some time, I don't need too when I can find these real artists on KZread and other platforms around the internet that haven't been so molded into their cookie cutter molds of what some old guy in a VIP or Marketing role thinks I want to hear.

I really enjoyed this interview. Adding an observation of mine from watching both Chinchilla and Ren, they seem to approach delivering songs in a similar way. There’s a mix of genres sometimes that very much creates an operatic or stage play type of performance that creates an intimacy with the audience that connects. I don’t know, just a thought.

I first found raw, emotionally charged, music in highschool. Damien Rice's Volcanos changed my whole damn life! I've been obsessed ever since. Swell Season/The Frames, Jeff Buckley, CCR, Neil Young, Janice Joplin, The Civil Wars, Shawn James, and now Chinchilla and Ren. The emotion and stories are so much better than what the "perfection trap" could ever offer the world. Thank you for this video, this channel, and being a vocal coach that respects raw performance over perfection.

The Civil Wars are such an odd one. Their Laundry sessions acoustic Billy Jean is mind-blowingly good, like they have the most amazing chemistry together, but I heard they hated each other. Absolutely fooled me.

I don’t know if you choose how many ads are in your videos but you came close to making one of the best, most wanted interviews unwatchable! Maybe I’m the only one that experienced this bud damn man! Chinchilla, you are now known to the world right beside those great female power voices! Having an 18 year old daughter in a time that we glorify songs about WAP and robbing John’s, and acting a fool by trashing his truck and call that empowering women is not easy and you are a beacon of light and a true example of a role model. Like he said, your ability to express yourself in such a powerful will give millions of women and little girls the courage and strength to know they can stand up and speak with the same confidence and power! My daughter was an instant fan when I played “Fingers” for her! From a father…THANK YOU!

So excited to see more from artists like CHINCHILLA. And im excited to see how many more artists, new and old, will be inspired to truly let go and just give into the music and emotion itself. Edit: Also unrelated now that i know it was Christina that helped her find her voice, i would Kill to hear Chinchilla cover a Christina song

She deserves recognition for her hard work and I love her new release! That was a great interview and through you, I got to see more of her beautiful spirit! Thank you for the great questions you came up with❤😊

I've been watching this over a few days and its so lovely. But Ive just got to the bit about Chinchillas clothes/makeup etc and I just love how she explains it (and steps in to make the point about it not being an alter ego strongly). I grew up somewhat shy but then also through punk rock and I totally empathise. My mohawk and my battle jacket (the name for patched leather/denim jackets in punk/metal says a lot) did just bring out the strongest, fiercest side of myself and gave me permission to be bigger, more powerful etc. And I want to add that I say that as a guy... For women it feels even more important to find whatever it is thst gives you permission to step into your power. Absolute solidarity to Chinchilla and all women and anyone else who faces and fights being held back. ✊
