Alice Phoebe Lou Discusses Her New Album, "Paper Castles"

Ойын-сауық

Alice Phoebe Lou's fiercely independent approach to her music has given the singer-songwriter a creative confidence that shines through in her captivating vocals and stripped back music. Having developed her bluesy, folk sound busking on the streets of Berlin, she has caught the ears of a community of music lovers the world over with her honest storytelling and raw, beautiful voice. Lou took the BUILD stage to talk about her new album, "Paper Castles," and play a few songs for the audience.

I like how this guy interviews. He can connect what the artist says with the next questions.

Agreed, it was less of an interview and more of a conversation. He was genuine and interested in what she had to say.

You know..... I'm 64 yrs old and I just bumped into her on KZread last week and was instantly captivated. I sat for about 3 hours and caught KZreads of her and felt like I got to know her some. The "folksy" reminded me of the pre 60's era, and with the band later and the nice bus I felt she was going more "jazzy". However, I really like the person, she is really cool, and keeps her child liked-ness so ready and so much a part of her, so very refreshing. She is super genuine and real, an open book.... she just says her feelings with aplomb and it all works because she is go genuine. "A real breath of fresh air"..... Thank You Alice....

Her cover of Take A Walk On The Wild Side is absolutely amazing. Typically when I hear cover I think “meh it’s alright but doesn’t beat the original.” However, her cover could possibly be even better in my opinion! Her voice, and even presence is just so refreshing and likeable. She also seems like a really cool, down to earth person with sense. I love that in a world full of artists who are full of themselves.

Mark Kelly: I agree fully. When I first heard Alice's cover of "Walk On The Wild Side", I thought in the first few seconds, woah, what's she done to this? But once I'd listened to it, Wow! Then, listening to some more of her covers, I think she has a unique way of making them her own. And now, having heard many of her original songs, and also her interviews, I so badly want to see her perform live. What a beautiful personality.

Don't know, for sure, if she's kidding herself, but as sure as there are the self obsorbed...she ain't kidding me. Like the sound nature gave her, but her...Well, if we ever end up in the same space, she can keep her hands to herself.

She's cool for sure but why the belly of the beast? I don't know if the possible money and fame is worth the darkness and danger to your psyche. She's not an overwhelming talent. She's lucky to be young otherwise she couldn't do it. Nah, that industry is full of the worst creeps, rip offs, liars, and cheats. Best of luck!
