Good morning dear Kripal - Wow it’s the Buhari restaurant vlog & yet another favourite place for me 👍 Brilliant introduction about the restaurant 💯💯💯 Yes it’s a wonderful backstory on why & how one of India’s most popular Chicken 65 was inaugurated in Buhari 👍👍 Wow the restaurant was way ahead of its time when it was established in Chennai 💯 Ha ha - The Chicken 90 was first dished out in the year 1990 . So now we have their famous Bun Butter jam with Chai 👍 ( even I don’t like the malai in tea or lassi ) which I simply love , especially with the white butter . Loved the way you relished it 👍👍 I agree it’s a simple dish yet super tasty 😋 Good crunch on the Mutton Samosa 👍 Yes it would be awesome to have a kitchen tour . Their Chicken 65 is to live for and it brings back such nostalgic memories. We , my cousins and friends used to parcel it at times and have it with some relaxing spirits 😀. I am drooling simply looking at you enjoying the dish with their special / secret masala 😋😋 I prefer the Chicken 65 over the Chicken 90 . Next dish is the Mutton Biryani with Raita . It’s a modest Biryani in terms of flavour and your review is spot on ( nothing new 😀) Wow what a brilliant way to decode the Mango & date based condiment . The fat in Tamil is called as Kozhupu 😀The typical Ceylon Paratha is better off without the ketchup. It’s an iconic place for sure as it has stood the test of time and that’s a testament to their culinary heritage 👍 It’s possibly the first time I am watching you have a Cassata Ice cream . Quite reasonably priced . Yet to have my lunch and this vlog is a perfect appetiser and has made my stomach semi ready to have a scrumptious Saturday lunch . Hi Rajesh, am glad that we are covering many of your favourite Chennai spots. There is so much more to cover in the city and we hope to on future trips. Btw, am sure you've caught the episodes from our earlier Chennai visits.I quite liked the Buhari chicken 65, it was just the juiciness of the bird and the spice rub that shone as opposed to the versions that you get elsewhere, where there are so many ingredients. Yes iconic nostalgic Buhari of my childhood but today degenerated into a figment of its past I remember presidency college days opposite its Marina branch We used to cut classes sit smoke gulping its red chai in china cups and excellent cakes kept in a huge tray paid on what you take ,their tiny samosas were to die for and Biriyani exotic . Love your description

Thanks very much. Enjoyed Buhari this evening , Bun butter jam & samsa gave a good start then idiyappam mutton Biriyani was surprisingly good, preferred Chicken 90 instead of 65 for the healthy butter (no refined oil) option and finally Dum Tea ❤

They forgot to mention the Buhari s which was on the Marina Beach. Now in its place is the Marina swimming pool. So many pleasant evenings was spent by us as a family sitting on the terrace over looking the sea and the sea breeze blowing. It was a divine experience but sadly that branch was discontinued. Eating those Samos as and the juke box belting out music of yesteryears it is an unforgettable memory

"Chicken 65" (Chicken fry using the local masalas) was listed as the 65th dish in the British army officers canteen's menu in Chennai, it became popular as "Chicken 65" as it was easier to order.

You should also try mutton Paya and idiyappam or parota at hotel Samco in Chennai

There are lots more with South Indian veg food and lots of dhabas as well.

The Buhari in Sri Lanka is stil very famous

It is pronounced Samosaa and not Samsa. I ate in this restaurant in 1970 on a visit to Chennai from New Delhi. It was a popular restaurant even then.

The worst Biryani I ever ate was in Bombay( back then 28 years ago) I was working for Abbott labs and thought wow biryani …… and do you know what I got ?.,,, plain rice with one piece of chicken which even Americans won’t touch😂😂😂. I am glad you had atleast what is called a Biryani. Never order Biryani in Mumbai
