Never realized till now that my favorite American gum brand, Chiclets, was derived from the Aztec Mexican word chicle! And that laugh!

A lot of people forget that México is also part of the Caribbean with Cuba, Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, Barbados, Jamaica and ETC. The distance between Mexico & Cuba is like driving from LA to San Diego. they almost touch each other. The Mexican states of Quintana Roo & Yucatan are part of the Caribbean

@@jasonlo8780 Key West is actually not part of the Caribbean, because it doesn't touch the Caribbean Sea. I can actually see the difference between Key West & the Caribbean. Look at pictures of Key West and then look at pictures of Isla Cozumel, Mexico. Playa Del Carmen, Mexico. Isla Mujeres, Mexico. Las Coloradas, Mexico & Celestun Mexico.

My father worked for a company that owned Chiclets Adams back in the 80/90's. He did tell us about how it used to be a natural product (as shown). My brother and I were early "test subjects" (OG alpha taste testers) for a new chewing gum concept they were developing back in the mid 80's. My father would bring handmade samples from the lab and we'd chew, rate, cleanse palate, chew again, etc. The 'gum' wasn't colored yet and it was sort of a light grey from what I remember. My favorite were the mini-Chiclets but I had so much gum growing up that I totally stopped chewing gum.

I don’t trust much nowadays so not surprised about the plastic bag and tire rubber gum, that’s why I chew honey comb from my bees nice sweet treat and I cook the wax after to filter it into clean beeswax bricks to make chapstick and soap/candles

most modern chewing gum is synthetic, nothing but chemicals.

I like knew from logic and how mas production works (they'd switch it to something plastic that's cheaper or more easily mass produced) but never..knew; If that makes sense lol. I was aware that it originally came from a tree though from the Native Americans.

Personally I don't mind a bit of plastic.
