The DARK SECRETS of Belize's BLACK HOLE

Belize is famous for it's Great Blue Hole. A near perfect circle far off the coast, but did you know that it has another sinkhole, one that is even more mysterious, it's called the Black Hole.
This cave was used for Mayan Sacrifice about 1000 years ago, and together with a small band of explorers we push into it's depths to find a treasure... A Crystal Skull.
Big love to Ian Anderson's Caves Branch Adventure Lodge for all the help putting this together. You can visit this cave too! Contact them here:

I hope you didn't miss out on the Lamanai ruins of Belize! I went exploring there by myself with a broken-down jeep and found I had an entire ancient Mayan city to myself. Once of the most amazing places I've ever been to with the howler monkeys in the trees, lost temples still under the growth, and of course the famous jade faces!

From the ant-eating at the beginning, to rappelling down into the sinkhole, to venturing deep into the caves for one of the coolest adventures I've ever seen on KZread, this is an instant Fearless & Far classic. You finding the broken pottery and obsidian blade was already cool enough, but seeing you come across the crystal skull blew my mind. Incredible, man. 🐉🔥

DEFINITELY not as exciting or as dangerous as your awesome adventure, but in the 60's I went to a privately owned cave in Missouri. You climbed through a small hole, down a handmade old wood ladder into a cave that had been used for a 1700's Native Am burial site. Sticking out of the calcified walls was a calcified child. In a sitting position, it's hair, head, face, and 1 knee were still protruding and even the eyelashes were calcified. We were not allowed to take any pictures, but that memory has stayed vivid in my mind for 57 years.

That was epic a dive into geological history and the history of Mayans . Caves have always been places of fear and reverence for many ancient cultures and even today they still capture the imagination. Human sacrifice was practiced all over the ancient world, some of the sacrificial victims were sometimes set apart from the rest of the community and treated like royalty before the time came .👍

Very nostalgic as I too used to do Myan tours in Guatemala, Honduras & Belize back in the mid 1990's!! Well, glad to see that some rain forest is still there and where you guys went definitely is wayyy beyond the average Gringo's tour- stay safe and watch out for the snakes, bandito's & parasito's!!

It's happened to all most every civilization throughout history. One nation pounders the other. Also more recently, meaning early documented exploration up until now, archeologists who work with the government of both places also acquires things. Many go to the places that allowed the exploration and the sponsors. So they get dispersed and or put up in storage.

I'm new here. But I subscribed because nowadays, most people would have taken that skull, or even one of the broken pieces I saw laying around it. Thank you so much for showing us this, but not touching it, playing with it, or taking it. You are a true explorer. Take only pictures, leave only footprints.
