This is one of the most beautiful works of dancing I have personally ever seen. I have never felt so emotional watching someone dance and move. So expressive. When this was ending, I just wanted to hug her.

The making of this video, imo, is as good as the video! Dancer is beautiful and so graceful.
I love that the camera's perspective is the dancer, watching herself, and you get a glimpse of this as she crosses in front of the mirror. Genius video in many ways.

I believe that's the detail which gives more meaning to the entire concept

Great work! Fun fact: Sonoya Mizuno was a cyborg in Ex Machina too :) I knew she reminded me something...

Shebis the main protagonist in the series "DEVS".
I would LOVE an expanded, detailed version of this video. I'd like to know exactly what they went through to make it.
Even after all those years, this still remains to me as an enormous leap in consumer CG. The shadows and GI added to each newly added limb throughout the shot is just beyond mesmerising.
they didn't use MOCAP! this is insane, the actually key-frame animated all body parts , deleted all real body parts and painstakingly reconstructed backgrounds using clean plates.... this guys are MENTAL, it's a masterpiece

1:00 that's a mocap suit. It's doubtful they would keyframe her movements.

Also if you look really closely you can spot some tiny black dots on the actor (without wearing the suit), which I assume are also being tracked. So I guess they've used a combination of keyframing and mocap. Either way, I was really amazed by the work done here. It does feel like a magician at work:)

@@kabeltelevizio That was used for reference, they did hand animate a lot to match her pose
I have only recently become aware of the existence of this song through a cover version of it, and decided to look up the original. I quite like the song, but I find the video especially captivating. I have never been a fan of contemporary dance, but this makes me think I must have come across the wrong ones, because what Sonoya Mizuno does here is pure beauty! She expresses a wonderful range of emotions through her movement, and especially the way she interacts with the visual effects. A work of art
It's AMAZING the incredible amount of talent in this video.

i love everything about this video. I love how the shadow falls to the other leg.
i love this music
The visuals make the song itself so powerful. I can't separate the sound and images. Beautiful work!
This was beautiful on so many lvls. A welcome change for Chemical Bro's and their style of music, proving still that they are amazing at what they do. The AR/VR elements were such an experience, and contributed so well to the aesthetic of this track and Sonoya's ethereal dancing
One of the best groups of electronic music, keep the good job!! :D
Sonoya definitely began with ballet lessons. Great job on this video.
The idea alone is brilliant, and not yet to implement it. An ordinary person has no idea what a lot of work is behind it. A beauty.
Just stumbled onto this song and i can't stop playing it. It has such a relaxing sound.

I agree. And the more i watch it, the more I WANT to watch. It's so beautiful watching Sonoya dance.
Супер песня! Супер клип!!! Лучшее за последние 20 лет, однозначно!!! ❤
When I first watched this video, my thought was: there are at least two different ways to achieve this result, nice to see they actually used both of them.
I loved the song when I first heard it, and then hoped there was a video for it. And I love the video too, it is so beautiful and really does match perfectly with the song.

Oh hey me, im from 5 years in the future. it really sucks right now lol. There are some good bits though. You find your soul mate, you get engaged, and you had a healthy amazing child.
whoever worked on this - this is amazing.
wow...i thought its simply some green screen magic... but now i know! its lots n lot more ... Hats off to the team.. 👏👏👏👏👏👏
Great Job MILL!
The making of this was nearly as beautiful as the end result! So much effort for such an awesome concept!
that is fire. amaze me so much. i am speachless
The whole video is a masterclass in everybody's discipline. I watch it again and again (and listen to it)
Such an achievement
It looks so much easier than it actually is.
I'm so addicted to this song. As I grow older, it's hard to find that spark again with new music, but this song (and video) has given me a spark again.

With that ballet background she is the best dancer
In a strong field, Wide Open is my favourite Chemical Brothers video. So emotional.
My fire alarm system went off because of all the smoke coming from whats left of my mind
I like how they didn't care if the video had big asses to attract the fans but used a fun way to experiment with different ways of storytelling and art. For dreamy songs like this, that what it should be all about.

it´s funny you should say that because they did enhance particularly her behind in those, after the transformation shots, but what the hell, this is still a masterpiece.

This song is so wonderful!, I've been listening to it on the radio for a long time, but I never found it on KZread or another page, it stills amaze me when I hear it on the radio, 'cause now is not sounding a lot, it's like vanishing :(

thank you for making this video
"I'm gonna tear up the ucking dance floor, check it out." GOODNESS GRACIOUS I ADORE Sonoya/Kyoko san. Kanpeki desu ne.
absolutely amazed by the cloth. I remember back in the 90s and early 2000s CG animators said clothes and hair were the most difficult. Now it's almost impossible to tell the difference.
The Mill - always AMAZING work! Brilliant.
Thanks for this behind the scenes. I just discovered this song and video. I recognized sonyoa from Devs. I had to watch. Amazing...great job..ahead of its time.
This has settled a long household debate- thank you for making this and an amazing music video which inspires debate and chat
still, Sonoya Mizuno and choreographer Wayne McGregor may just be the biggest asset in this video. all of it a joy to behold (and listen to)
Spectacular example of the artform, and the real steps and collaboration required to actually make such a thing possible.
Just amazing
Congrats to the band and to the production company The Mill for this outstanding audio&visual masterpiece.
