My only critique is that the song should’ve been named Snow White( I get why they didn’t but) I hate how much flack Cinderella gets when she is a symbol of being a good person does have its rewards. Snow Whites the one who choked on an apple
@beebikinis
2 жыл бұрын
@@anjealousanaconda9692 You can be a good, dutiful person, but that doesn't have to mean that you always need to be agreaable and just do what you're told without a murmur. You don't have to work a thankless job that only furthers other people's goals. As a girl you have the right to be proactive and reactive. It's important to make a distinction between valuing hard work and being a decent person, and not mixing it up with the sexist expectations of good women being passive and serving. I'd rather see Cinderella's dreams come true because she was determined to make a better life for herself. Instead she passively endures all the injustice, and is essentially rewarded for "knowing her place." In the end it's a tale about a girl getting rescued by a prince because she's pretty, domestic and docile.

Why bring gender into this? Women need men just like men need women. But besides that, this movie was one of my favorites growing up because of the catchy songs and the diversity. We can acknowledge how great this movie was without having to bring up feminist ideologies.

The good Era of Disney
Verse 1: Galleria & Chanel] When I was just a little girl My mama used to tuck me into bed And she'd read me a story It always was about a princess in distress And how a guy would save her And end up with the glory [Pre-Chorus 1: Dorinda & Aqua] I'd lie in bed and think about The person that I wanted to be Then one day I realized The fairy tale life wasn’t for me [Chorus: All (Aqua)] I don’t wanna be like Cinderella Sitting in a dark, cold, dusty cellar Waiting for somebody To come and set me free (Come and set me free) I don’t wanna be like someone waiting For a handsome prince to come and save me On I will survive Unless somebody's on my side Don't wanna depend on no one else I’d rather rescue myself [Verse 2: Dorinda, All, Galleria] Someday I'm gonna find someone That wants me body, soul, heart, and mind Who's not afraid to show that he loves me Somebody who will understand I'm happy just the way I am (The way I am) Don't need nobody taking care of me (I will be there) [Pre-Chorus 2: Aqua, Chanel] I will be there for him just as Strong as he will be there for me When I give myself then it has Got to be an equal thing [Chorus: All (Chanel)] I don’t wanna be like Cinderella Sitting in a dark, cold, dusty cellar Waiting for somebody (Somebody) To come and set me free I don’t wanna be like someone waiting For a handsome prince to come and save me On I will survive Unless somebody's on my side Don't wanna depend on no one else I’d rather rescue myself [Bridge: All & Chanel] I can slay (I can slay) my own dragons (my own dragons) I can dream my own dreams (my own dreams) My knight in shining armor (shining armor) is me So I'm gonna set me free [Chorus: All] I don’t wanna be like Cinderella Sitting in a dark, cold, dusty cellar Waiting for somebody To come and set me free I don’t wanna be like someone waiting For a handsome prince to come and save me On I will survive Unless somebody's on my side I don’t wanna be like Cinderella Sitting in a dark, cold, dusty cellar Waiting for somebody To come and set me free I don’t wanna be like someone waiting For a handsome prince to come and save me On I will survive Unless somebody's on my side Don't wanna depend on no one else I’d rather rescue myself

You know, when you think about it, it's kinda crazy how they sang "I don't wanna be like Cinderella" on DISNEY Channel.
at 27 years old this song still continues to have a chokehold on me #girlpower
Every now and then I come back to this song to get a pick me up when I’m feeling blue, and every time it hits like no other! The lyrics in itself are so powerful and inspirational as I was young girl when it came out and a young adult now. They don’t know how iconic this era was
Not me seeing Raven hold the treat in her hand to make that dog dance 😂😂😂
Every time I watch this video or hear this song, I always envision four women, each representing a job in the STEM field, Mathematician, Neurologist, Software Developer, Contractor. As a woman in the STEM field, I literally can't think of anything else when I hear this song.
