    @joshuanoble5333 Ya clean examples are not easy to find anymore for great prices. Took me a long time to find a 2 door manual that was worthy. My original jeep was an 82 j10 honcho lorado with a lot put into it to say the least. Won't be finding another one of those. Xjs can be turned into killer overlanding vehicles. The weight or 1 tons can become an issue. A 300hp all motor stroker would be perfect for all around ability in these. Stock 4.0 is a bit of a dog even with regear and bolt on mods.

    I see the cause of your rear spring sag. I have the same problem on my 95 XJ Bumble Jeep. I have no spare at present, but I do have a reasonably stocked Kobalt tool chest I carry in the back. I built my own shackle relocation brackets and also have 2" lift shackles. I'm running 33"s . I'm sitting about an inch lower in the back. I really should shift my tool chest to the center to balance the load. You have a really nice build. God bless, stay well.

    I’ve been following you on Instagram. I have a ‘98 XJ that is a former gov vehicle too (Pitkin County, CO). I’ve been on 31s with a 4.5 inch short arm for years and I’m trying to plan a “phase 2” of the build. I’m leaning towards cav fab with 33s and 4.56s. 35s look sick but I do a fair bit of rock crawling here in CO and i want to stay as reliable in the rocks as possible.

    Tire size has to be one of the hardest decisions us xj guys make. Ultimately I'm glad I went with 35s. The more I read and ask people who actually use 35s the more confident I am with the idea of abusing the d30. I even see a lot of guys running 37s on hard trails now with built d30s. Fingers crossed mine works for me lol

    I would keep the 8.25 and hp30 and go enjoy the jeep i think too many ppl over build there jeeps then dont even get out and offroad them much. And like you said parts are easy to find if you break something on the stock axles. I have beat some xjs pretty hard on 35s ive broken front carriers axle shafts yokes you name it and i still would keep the stock axles. They take a pretty good beating on 35s esp the 8.25 29 spline rear axle. The front can be built to be pretty dang tough too

    I lost this jeep in a fire. I have since moved on to a tj. It is going to get the hpd44/9in I had set aside for the xj and it will get 39s. But yes I agree that xj got wheeled hard on d30 and locked 8.8 I had in there. Never broke the axles, but 35s were the max for me on that setup

    Cavfab! Heck yah! I can’t decide if I want my Manche to have a full front & rear (coil spring) suspension kit from Ironman4x4fab or go with cavfab & keep the rear as leaf springs.

  • @emptypocketsoffroad

    @emptypocketsoffroad

    Жыл бұрын

    Here's a few pros of sticking with front 3 link and rear leafs: 1) simplicity 2) rear stability 3)cost. I really looked into doing a rear 4 link but decided against it. The biggest reason was seeing others online have issues with stability after making the flex so much. A lot of guys have to add sway bars, like the antirock, front and rear to help control the flex. I imagine that if a guy used coilovers front and rear that would be the best
