The SL55 engine is known as bullet proof compared to the V10 BMW. Mercedes does have other issues like the ABC suspension system.

Its fast, its pretty and hell its even reasonably priced but.....its literally gonna be in the shop every couple of months with expensive repairs. How do I know this you ask? Unfortunately I found out the hard way. I have a few friends from the s55 club that also went through it till we upgraded. Shame.

Had a CL55 AMG myself, also the 500hp supercharger..for a month. Far too much wrong with it, I had an independent check carried out by a specialist and about £4/5000 GBP of work was required, at least. So was sold a dud from a garage. That was 4 years ago and bought (still own) a Subaru Legacy SpecB which handles better, can 'only' do 150mph but won't end up in a garage

The SL55 engine is one of the best engines Mercedes ever made. I loved mine. Owned it for years and never had to take it in for anything other than normal routine maintenance. My SL65 is an absolute monster and crushes everything I come in contact with and is also very reliable.

I have the c6 rs6 avant(recent purchase) . Running a mild tune so about 700bhp. Not done 200+...yet but I can tell you it gets up to 170 very quickly. 200+ should be easy given the right conditions.

Well the Vette,Viper and bike are pretty reliable and the only real problem with the Sl55 is the suspension i had one for 10 years with no problem. The thing is people want to buy expensive car's with high mileage and no maintenance history just to look good. They are asking for problems i drove mine to 120,000 miles and sold it to a family member 3 years ago and it's still running 👍

Actually, the SL55 is quite reliable when it comes to engine and transmission (it's only drawback is the convertible top which sometimes breaks) and so are the other Benz cars equipped with the M113K engine, such as the W211 E55, the 2003+ CL55 and S55 AMG and the CLS55 AMG. The Corvette and Viper are reliable, and so is the RS6 C6, as unlikely as it seems. True, RS6 replacement parts are very expensive but it's quite bulletproof in general and has no design flaws. So your comment is pretty invalid imo.

I have always wanted a C6 Corvette. Would put a cam, exhaust, wheel, tires and a good tune on it. That's all I would mess with and be completely satisfied.

I enjoyed your picks and as a Ducati owner I loved your #1. But a used Hayabusa with a turbo would be my pick for the cheapest vehicle to 200mph. You could go cheaper with an old FZR 1000 with nitrous(my buddy got clocked at 204 on his 1990 at Boneville salt flats).

My e60 went from 58k miles to 103k miles with zero issues asides from throttle body actuators which were easy to swap myself. Just get a 6mt, budget for rod bearings + throttle body actuators and you're fine... Still a super affordable and badass car!

Ideal, these are great videos. You definitely missed an extremely iconic car! The 2013-2014 Shelby GT500. 5.8l V8 w/ 2.3l TVS supercharger making 662 hp paired with the TR6060 6 speed manual. It does 60 in 1st gear, 135 in 3rd and has a top end of 202 mph. I bought mine used, single owner w/ 6600 miles on it for 45k.

Forgot to mention the second gen CTS-V. Mid $30k for one and can hit 200

He’s a lot less cringy now but... episodes still need more research, m5s aren’t that unreliable if you get the three main issues fixed- plus they come in manual

Brian dO yOuR rEsEaRcH. As a matter of fact the E90 M3 and the E60 M5 are very similar, I’ve had friends that owned both and quite literally biggest difference between them is the two extra cylinders on the M5. Same transmission, same basic suspension components, have similar rod bearing and water pump issues, hell, they’re assembled in the same factory. Obviously the M3 is more comparable to the M4 and the M5 to the M6 but they aren’t that far fetched my guy.

Mercedes SL line up all day! SL 55's are quite nice but the 2008 SL65 Amg should get an honorable mention. Priced about the same as the Vipers you listed, with some actually below 40 grand. With 604hp and 768lbs of torque. A beast! Just an expensive beast when things need repairs...

the c6 z06 is EASILY my favorite car. it always has been

Audi RS7. 4 doors, will do 202 MPH, easy mods and blows away everyone on the road 0-60

I own a 2008 BMW M6. And yes I know they have their "problems " but honestly they can be corrected. The rod bearing issue.. 1st.. let the car come up to temperature before cranking the nuts off of it. And when they do need replaced ,go with the 1000th larger bearing. But this car is a blast to drive, handles great. And it hasn't "Broke My Wallet".

I'll choose the Mercedes Benz SL55 AMG, remove that pesky limiter, and go to the autobahn.

The Audi RS6 Avant is like one of the best in this list just think about it its like a modern legend RS2, plus it has a nice space in the back and nice amount of power, and the all wheel drive quattro system make's it even better.

Nice honorable mention, but the Suzuki Hayabusa was hitting 200 plus miles an hour stock for years. They had electronically limited it to 186, and as soon as you got rid of the electronic limiter you were easily cruising over 200 mph with a twisted wrist. Other bike companies had to innovate just to keep up with the Busa, and others needed "performance enhancers" (BOOST).

Guys just put milion stickers on your car bcs everyone knows stickers = horsepower ( specialy red stickers they give most horse power).

Don't wanna sink ur ship buddy. However. Cheapest car to go 200 is C32 AMG and its reliable. Also easily faster than e60 M5 after mods. Will go 200k miles AT LEAST.

What about the Gen 3 CTS-V and the Hellcat Charger, both have been tested and shown capable of 200mph and used are available in the 30's

C6 or c7 would be the most reliable and cheapest to maintain out of the bunch. But the M113K is a beast and pretty reliable once you fix a few things and add a oil pressure gauge.

Id get the vette - it wont break

I love Corvettes so it would be hard to switch over to dodge but we will see. The C6 Z06 was super raw and fun! Definitely the best bang for the buck 🙌🏽. I hit 189mph on the Boeing freeway and it was still pulling but I got scared and backed off🤣

Already got me an M6 that will go over 200. No problems at all at 26, 200 miles. I believe with good maintenance practices you should have no issues with any vehicle. I'm also a turbine engine aircraft mechanic on the side, though. We know about performing scheduled maintenance to make aircraft last well beyond 30 years.

I am a JDM guy but i will probably get my hands in the m5

Always found the E60 M5 fascinating. That 204 mph top speed is unbelievable... when it came out it could go faster than the Porsche 911 Turbo, the Lamborghini Gallardo and the Ferrari F430 of its time - a luxury sedan! I don’t know what BMW did with that 5.0 N/A engine but it must have been some kind of sorcery

Speed, reliability, affordability; pick two. Boost feeding an LS-engine'd car would probably be your best bet. Perhaps something like a C5 Corvette or Catfish Camaro as the platform to start with.

A lot of people dont realize that the first car to reach 200 was not the ferrari f40 but rather the plymouth roadrunner/ Dodge superbird way back in 1969, not 1988

bruh good SL55 amg cost 20k-50k euro and the one that you showed is a broken down one in europe a bad version of it costs like 20k euro and a good version 25 euro - 50k euro

Do not I repeat do not get a BMW M5 or M6 with the V10 you will go broke and pile drive your credit cards into the ground trying to keep it on the road. Edit: the C6 ZO6 is not reliable lol. Fix the heads and valves or you’ll be buying a new engine and still have to redo the heads and valves (terrible design)

i had a c6z for a minute. 09 jet stream blue. fun car but yes every car has its quirks. luckily most heads and valves have been taken care of by now.. at least you hope! great feedback!

Definitely go with the sl55 amg with 65 black body kit. Ultimate motor. Can pick up good examples for about £20k 🇬🇧

2012 GT500's can be found for around 30-40,000$ dollars and can hit 200 mph. Cheaper than both your American offerings, and probably more reliable than the Dodge. It's also a Mustang, so most parts are easy to come by.

I can hit 200 with a $1000 car! I mean 200 km/h... (120 MPH)

All those cars are lovely, but for me dodge viper would stand out, even if any other car ware better m5 or regular 5 they look too alike, and there are plenty of those but an american would stand out also i liked bothviper and corvette science i was a kiddo.

Lots of Mercedes with the m113k engine out there with 400,000+ miles on them. That engine is notoriously reliable and easy to mod.

The SL55 is not unreliable, the engine is bullet proof… it’s the ABC suspension that can be costly, and the vario roof… however, for around $2000 you can buy coilovers and remove the system and then you have peace of mind. All of these vehicles are expensive to maintain, with the exception of the vette and the viper.

2006 vw phaeton, it’s a w12 that goes 153 limited but take it off and it’s pushing 201

I have a question I have a Kia amanti and I don’t know what to do to incorporate luxury with speed.

Going 200mph for cheap doesn't seem like a great idea to me

The engine won't break in the SL55. The drivetrain is solid. It's the electronics that hinder it. Something is always going wrong.

I would choose the CTSV but it’s not on this list...

Someone Should make a vid on Top 10 cars that beat the gt-r

You can beat a gtr with a 335i for 15k all in.

The Mercedes engines are actually very reliable

Manufacturers don't "struggle" to make a car that goes over 200mph; they just don't think doing so would be compatible with their business model/target market.

Yes. To all of them, even the motorcycle. I knew how to ride a motorcycle before I knew how to drive a car.

Didn't even mention the 2013-14 Shelby GT500. Suppose to have a top speed of 202 mph. The 2020 GT500 is speed limited to 180 mph but I'm sure a good shop can tune that limiter out.

You definitely missed the best Merc chap! CL55 Komp 'black edition' with 625 Bhp does it the easiest with a q/mile of 10.8secs..... NUFF SAID!

I’ve driven some fun cars and fast ones. My two favorite to drive are lotus track cars, built Honda’s, an the bmw M series, no need to go 200 when you smile in curves like in a Honda or bmw

Add get the Audi wagon just cuz I had one on Gran Turismo so I know the thing is just a monster
