That bookshop idea at La Lande is brilliant! Who doesn’t love an ex-pat store?! Add the La Lande honey, jams, preserves, dried herbs, toile sachets, la Lande chutney, pressed flowers, dried fruit and of course, assortments of English teas. No gift store would be complete without La Lande gift cards featuring Michaels photography. Perhaps tote bags of the Chateau etching?

It's so strange to see a KZreadr in my country! I'm from Port Elizabeth in the Eastern Cape. I hope you return to South Africa again someday soon 🙂 it is truly amazing and diverse, especially that area of the Western Cape.

Only when I saw this did I realise how little I know about the LOOK of that part of the world. Granted, Stephanie is showing us some very well-to-do spots -- but why shouldn't we get a glimpse of that as well as what the encyclopedias show us. And I DO appreciate the small intense history lessons that she includes -- these vlogs are so well thought out, educational and joyful besides.

In the art gallery, who heard Stephanie's little mischievous laugh after Michael gave in a purchased another piece of art? She went "Hehehe." Just like that.

@@TheChateauDiaries According to "Science Friday" on (USA) National Public Radio today, March 13, the virus is not very heat resistant. Drinking hot tea, strong sunshine and tossing clothing in a hot clothes dryer for 30 minutes all will kill it. Just keep drinking that tea!

I love that lady in black and white. She explains everything so beautifully

A local historian was called when Huguenots bodies were unearthed accidentally in my home town. They were buried in black earth ten feet below ground according to the edict of Queen Elizabeth, to indicate the death was due to the plague. History before the bodies were discovered dated my town to the 1850s, but the rows of the dead in black earth means the history books are off 200 years.

As usual I thoroughly enjoyed the Diary. Absolutely fascinating, Apart from a dedicated chateau fan, I to love history gardens and food. A feast for the senses.

Yes you really do have the best friends in the world! Wow!

Luckily we’re on a small river cruise. It’s a big boat, with lots of open spaces, and there are only 14 passengers. The crew are scrupulously careful - we have to hand sanitise regularly and our temperature is checked.

Thank you for telling us more about the Huguenots. My family came from La Rochelle, FR to the US in 1568.
