The Chateau Diaries 085: Toile de Jouy Heaven
Escape to the chateau with ’The Chateau Diaries’ 🏰
In the grip of the flu, I hand over the reins of the chateau to Mummy, Percy and Gerald, but have to leap back into action when they leave. The discovery of a new, amazing brioche speeds my recovery, and I'm cooking, fixing leaks and collecting toile de jouy in no time!
This weekly vlog follows the adventures of chatelaine Stephanie in her French 16th century home, the Chateau de Lalande, in the heart of rural France ❤️

I found you from Anna and Phillip. I am watching in order. I was a single mom for 14 yrs after I lost my husband. I learned to do many things. I was yelling instructions when you were using the socket wrench. I was so happy when you did it. Thank you for sharing your wonderful life❤
You need to do a Chateau cookbook, with all those wonderful dishes. That would be so fantastic!

I saw that too! I thought it was lovely of him to help, then I took a closer look! I have a sister who likes to do that when she visits, I don't find it helpful, because then the floor must be swept, sigh. Hahaha!

Gerry is such a tonic , and it's good to see you in better health .
Oh my god Gerald is fantastic!) I love his personality and sense of humour he is amazing 😆👍❤❤❤
Love watching a few a day and always watch the ads. The ivy climbing up the trees by the chapel are killing them. You need to cut the ivy at the base and stop it from growing on the trees. Just letting you know. Bestest wishes, Johnny
Just love your Mum, she made a special person.x
Goodbye Gerald... keep singing and laughing! 🌸
Thinning out, ie, getting rid of a portion of trees, spacing them out, which will encourage healthy growth to the root system, and less likely for them to topple over. With BIG Trees like that... Definitely contact an Arborist. You would not want to take any chances with that incredible Chapel! All the very best to you and yours! P.S. I am Rebecca :' )
There is a rust stain remover to use on calcite ,yes i think some of those trees need cutting down and some new planted but keep the sheep away as they will eat them ,nice vlog again
Marie and the Woodsman? Yayyyyyy
I love your mother and Percy so much
Thank you Stephanie - enjoyed your vlog as always 👌💋 Glad you're feeling better. Enjoy every minute of your holiday 🌼 Safe travels. Beautiful blessings Mandy 👑SA
Peel the bananas first, you have made my day. You are so real; take care.
We need a Chateau de la Lande cookbook Stephanie
You are a ray of sunshine, even when you are sick,❣️ I LOVE your blogs and your Mother is as cute as a button. Your tole collection is amazing, I am surprised at all the colors and styles, always thought of blue and white. You deserve a holiday and I love London and I miss Maddy so I am looking forward to that. I have a point of interest, last week I visited Cape Cod and learned that if you looked across the Atlantic you would find Portugal and that Portugal fishermen settled on Cap Cod where I had some delicious Portugal soup‼️ Thanks again for the visit❤️
Lovin the kookaburra apron ❤️
Was a wonderful video! Luckily the tree didn't get the chapel... I'm glad to see you better, and having a great time (I know you will!) in London and Portugal. Give a big hug to Marie from me... I'll give it to you back, very soon! 😁 P. S. Was hilarious seeing you with that tool in your hand, and the phone in the other, filming meanwhile you fix the water problem!
really enjoyed the video this week, thank you. Bon voyage and safe return! Have fun!
Lots of logs though silver lining hope you feel better xx
Stephanie I don’t know how you do it all but every time I watch one of your podcasts I both marvel at your ingenuity and the enviable lifestyle you have. I love your chateau!!!
I adore you all in the world that’s today this brings me so much joy in a daily basis your the only one I watch and like and love everyday you transport me to a beautiful calm place Thkyou xxx
What a wonderful project in displaying the beautiful fine miniature masterpieces of Toile de Jouy. I had forgotten my parents home had on a small accent wall by the dinning room a beautiful wallpaper with a white on brown pastoral Toile de Jouy design. Hope you had a good trip to Stratford upon Avon and Portugal. Thank you, dear Stephanie [if I may call you since I feel I know you], you may need a break as I need a break by enjoying your videos! Your 'joie de vivre' is infectious hope you are feeling better!
You have the best charity shops ...love your videos 💕💐
Thanks for sharing.❤️❤️❤️
omg that brioche!! I'm in love!
Socket wrench ! So jealous of you spending a week in London. I love Angel, my favourite place in London. Such good shopping. Have fun. Thanks for the joy and inspiration xxx
Love Gerald! You just want to hug him!❤️❤️❤️❤️
Hello Stephanie. I was glad to see your Chapel was safe. I have spent the last 4 weeks catching up on all the vlogs. I am a teacher in Tassie (Tasmania) - Australia. I visited Europe about 25 years ago and when my long service leave comes up in a few years the husband and I are planning a few weeks in France. We will come and visit you in your beautiful chateau. We have also been major renovators in our day but of course nothing like the chateau, so I feel your pride in finding the right tool for the job. Keep up the great vlogs, they have inspired me and in the summer holidays when our own guest accommodation is up and running, I am going to take a leaf out of your book and do some vlogs about our property and the surrounding area (50 acres near St Helens on the stunning east coast of Tasmania). All the best on your holiday.
Thank heavens the chapel wasn’t damaged, we have a lot of tall thin trees around the house and every big storm I worry they will come down on the house. I wish someone would gift me a chainsaw😂🤣😂🤣. What are the brown humps on the ground on the lawn by the chapel? Holy groundhogs maybe. Have fun on your vacation, I can’t wait to see some video and maybe a photo album of your travels. Are you driving the marble back from Portugal? That would be a trip to see. Here he. Congratulations on turning off the leak in the bathroom, surely there is something that can clean the rust from the marble. 🙋🏼 safe travels.

Way to go stopping that leak! I have an old mansion and my dear husband died years ago and I am always dealing with a leak here are there,my special needs son trys to help and we end up.laughing and looking for the duct tape👍🙋😍
Hope you are feeling better and that you have a great holiday .
*checks freezer where I have been storing unpeeled frozen banana for weeks*...... "nooooo!" 😂
❤🦋
I'm currently lying in bed, not feeling too well (not coronavirus), and I saw the title of this. I love toile de jouy!!! I think the nicest one I ever saw was a dark lavender colour on a cream background. Oh, how I coveted it!!! You sound so poorly in this film, thank heavens you had mummy to care for you! Xxx
"Un holy pleace"...kisses from Austria....god bless you 💐and your dearest family💐 and so lovely friends...💐🙏
Stephanie if you pour lemon juice over the rust stain, leave it for about 20 minutes then sprinkle with baking soda / bicarbonate then use an old toothbrush and scrub a dub dub !! You might have to do it a couple of times but it should work, only on white marble of course.
Thank goodness you are finally feeling better! The Toile are beautiful--very nice collection. Have a wonderful time in London and Portugal. Hello to Marie!
You're in London? Nice..say hello to Marie.. missing her presence in video. That tool call ratchet.. Anyway brave of you to diy. I'd probably put a container and call a plumber.😥 You're unwell and down with flue.. .. the body said Stephanie ..I need a rest. The danger of having old trees surrounding the building..need to have cut and stump uproot.. Has Gerry ever been in bewitched .. comedies series in USA?
2 lessons learned. I'd say that a productive week.
Your new favourite tool is a ratchet with sockets. These can be a girls best friend.
Your collection of antique Toile de Jouey is so beautiful and interesting...and what a fab idea to frame them for wall display - a symphony in pink!
What an amazing team 💖💕😊
Yayyy Woodsman in Stratford - a stones throw from me - we are awaiting a special occasion!! Lots of feedback and pictures please...although isn't Marie Veggie?
I' m glad you feel better. I think you work too hard. Have a nice holiday!
❤❤❤
Excellent use of ratchet and camera at the same time, and you chose the right socket first go :-)
Great video full of many different things going on at the Chateau. Theres a product called Rust Out here in the States that works very well. Perhaps you've already found a magic formula or product that took care of those bathroom tiles but if not, keep looking, all is not lost.
Love the toile. I grew up in a bedroom with green and ivory toile wallpaper. The design was of dandelion wishes and I have never found it again. But every home I have lived in since has had a toile room in green and ivory. My current toile is in the breakfast room on the bay windows and is a Chinese pattern. Please show your toile room when finished.

That sounds beautiful!
How fun it looks. But I know it’s hard work.
Dry the floor, then place two paper towels on top of each other over the stain... place two more or two more again... until the stain is completely covered... now douse it with white vinegar.... and leave to dry with the paper towels for 24 hours... remove and the stain should be gone.... it works on toilet bowls that have been stained with rust, so I presume it should work on the marble.

Stephanie the handyman!
The antique toile de jouy are fascinating
Great video. So entertaining.
I’d like to think the America’s Toile de Jouy you shared depicts the pilgrims landing on Cape Code 😉 after their long journey on the Mayflower. 🐓Several of my ancestors including William Brewster my eleventh Great Grand Father participated in that epic journey. I respect and appreciate your love of history and the art that depicts those historical scenes! Can’t wait to see your final framed fabrics hung pride of place in your bedroom. Thanks Stephanie!🦚

Having ancestors that were on the mayflower is nothing to be proud of
Celebratory cake hahahahaha 😂😂 There’s always a very valid reason for cake in your place !! By the way I’ve started thumbing up your vlogs before seeing them, they never let down. Have a nice time in London and Portugal, if you go through Madrid it would be lovely to meet up with you !!!
I want one of those kitchen machines.
What? You are left alone without any supervision and tasks??

Oh dear Stephane, I share your unsure feeling with tools and your leaking radiator. Then I remember my dad saying, right is tight and left is loose. 😄
I used to skip the adverts . Won’t do that again ! Now that I know it funds the Chateau!
The red box of tools is called a socket set
Love your dress!!
👍👍💓
The camel textured robe looks so good with your blonde hair. I know you're long better, but do pace yourself. Running something like a B&B requires balance, even balance in your recreational pursuits. Rest enhances your immune system, dear heart. And I'm sure Mummy would agree.
Stephanie -- how do you spend the morning looking at Toile de Jouy when you are going to cook dinner for workshop guests? I mean, I wouldn't be able to think of anything else but that dinner. Well, that's me. You cook as easily as you breathe ... I suppose!
Ratchet n socket set 😉🙃🤣
I enjoy these videos very much and think that she is beautiful and wonderful..but after watching this video, and many others, where she is coming and going...and don't get me wrong, I also have a wonderful place and money, I just realized that Stephanie is asking for sponsors to pay the repairs, but at the same time traveling the world and spending quite some money...I thought about sponsoring ,but honestly...there are so many people starrving in the world...or people who can't afford to pay their basic expenses......
Hi, I am in the Vienne. Where is "La Chatte" where the bracante shop is, please? Love your Vlogs ;)
