    My father cried in this scene and we had never saw him cry . We were kids . He lost his dad really young. I think this is truly the best piece of acting I've seen .

    I saw this when I was 11 years old, just after my parents divorced and my life turned to shit. I don't think I've ever cried so hard at a movie scene in my entire life...at least until The Elephant Man came out. Very powerful. Ricky Schroeder sure could make those tears work!

    zelly james i heard a rumor that the entire group actually made the kid believe that „his father“ actually died and that the actor spend a lot of time warming up to the kid to get the best cry.

    Still the saddest scene ive ever seen in a film to this day and the best bit of acting from such a young actor playing a sort of scene that play's with your emotions like that and can make you cry! Unbelievable ricky shroder never got an oscar!

    I watched this movie at aged 9 and the ending was the only thing that helped me cry for my mothers passing when I was 7 years old I just couldn’t cry about losing her and gave me a relief.

    It brought me to tears seen this scene from that beautiful film. Reminded me of my late father whom I've lost almost 7 years ago. He was a film projector back home, and I've seen this film before it was played in the cinemas. The story touched me so much as I've also lived with no mother around (divorced) and overseas... Miss you dad until the day we meet again.

The good news is they will let you watch the movie for only 2.99 and I think that is for 2 or 3 days access. Just type in "The Champ full movie 1979" and it will come up. Make sure to have a lot of kleenex ready!

    First time i watched this was when i was about 9-10 years old with my dad, who ive only seen cry twice in his life, and this had him walk out the room with tears. it did get me emotional too but i dont think i cried back then as i was more shocked and focusing if my dad was ok lol. now that ive come back to it about 14 years later with my father passing in early 2008 , i got only 56 seconds in and started bawling. but laughing at the same time cause i knew what this video would bring upon such emotion. but it brought back memories. now that ive google searched that this is literally the saddest ending of all time. sheesh

    Rocky is my favorite franchise of all time When Mickey died I cried like a baby and I've seen the movie a hundred times still gets me.. But I remember my dad saying watch the champ and you'll cry even more... My god was he right I can't watch this movie cause of this scene Movie is brilliant absolutely rivals rocky I would even say it's slightly better.. But seeing a kid react like that and that music that literally kills u inside..
