After 20 years i still can’t believe they aired it, period. To me back then it was just another game show. Now i wish ive never watched it and you’re right. Greed should’ve had another season.

R.I.P. to Michael Tiller. The guy who ran the channel Game Show Temple, and uploaded all three episodes of The Chamber. Although the show was horrible, it's nice to see someone archive it now that it's been a little more than 20 years.

I worked as an audience member on the Chamber and the Chair back when I was living in Los Angeles. Yeah the Chair was a long day of sitting around waiting for the show to start. The most ridiculous show I worked on was Fear Factor fashion show where the dare was to be nude in public. The worst one was Say Uncle where they tortured people on the show they even put a guy in a chicken coop and they poked at his face. Yeah crazy times in the land of Hollywood.

This show makes It's Your Chance of a Lifetime look like a masterpiece, and that show only had 5 episodes which was a carbon copy of Who wants to be a millionaire.

I agree on IYCOAL being a carbon copy of WWTBAM. The format is damn near EXACTLY the same! But still I find It's Your Chance of a Lifetime a whole lot better than Who Wants to be a Millionaire but nowhere and I mean NOWHERE as good as Greed! IYCOAL is basically Fox's own version of Millionaire but should've continued beyond 5 episodes.

@@hiltonlive32grnrngr Gotta say that's the first time I've heard someone put IYCOAL above WWTBAM. In fairness, I've never actually sat through a full episode, but I do agree, both it and Greed deserved longer runs, especially considering Fox's alternative game show ideas included this crap...

I would rather watch ABC’s the chair over this the worst game show ever. If Fox would had given Greed another season or would had put it in syndication that would had been a better idea over the chamber.

Pretty sure Brian Wilson is still alive. And Wilson Phillips were a trio. It was Carnie, her sister Wendy, and Chynna Phillips

I'd rather be imprisoned in Gitmo Bay than be subject to *these* conditions. Even as it aired, that's a much better way to go out.

This was a very awesome idea that was just extremely poorly executed. I mean WHYY did they need to have those muscle contraptions?? Plus if the chambers started out 10⁰ cooler or warmer it wouldn't have been that intense. I mean Level 1 could be done by anyone. But after that it got intense. I feel level 2 was OK too. But then level 3 and up got too much for anyone.

7:12-7:27 I just love how Rich Schwartz is hardly showing any emotion when he's talking to Christina about how he's (supposedly) worried about her safety. I mean, hell, look at the blank stare on his face! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

I’m not even a Game Show fan and I’d prefer Greed over this wannabe torture thing

Only half the episodes made ever aired. However, although there may be a vast minority of people who liked the show, those who didn’t could still use the three aired episodes as a way to amuse themselves about just how bad the show is. (Again, I know that’s in the eye of the beholder.) Sort of like on that old TV show Mystery Science Theatre, the way Mike Nelson, Crow, and Tom Servo would view these old movies with really bad ratings and just make fun of them by adding their own wise-a** dialogue.😂

I'm surprised that no one got killed by this show.

You are the second KZread channel that I have seen talk about this game show that I hadn't heard of before, until the past week. It is a very extreme game show and I'm glad I was too young to even see this. I probably would've found it boring tbh. The "Host" has absolutely no charisma, wasn't even scared for the person, just stood there, staring at it blankly and the editing in this show is also awful. Sometimes the questions would pop up and sometimes they wouldn't. The voiceover person is also not very entertaining, sometimes hard to hear because of all the noise of what's going on inside "The Chamber". I have no idea how or why FOX thought this was a good idea but it isn't. No wonder it got cancelled after 3 episodes. The unaired episodes may just end up being missing at this point.

I was 14 at the time The Chamber aired, about halfway through my ill-fated freshman year of high school. I vaguely remember this show from back then and in my honest opinion, this made Greed, in comparison, look like Wheel of Fortune. Hell, even ABC's The Chair wasn't as horrid as this.

Even a game show, which I forgot the name of, where truths are exposed on TV to millions of people in America is less extreme than this. It’s still highly uncomfortable and awkward but it’s not fearing the lives of anyone who participates, only fearing for the people who got exposed on national TV.

@@JohnnyTYT someone else in the comments just mentioned it. It's called The Moment of Truth hosted by Mark L. Walberg. In retrospect, I don't think the show was all that great but I personally would rather have all my dirty laundry exposed to millions of people all across the country (and possibly the entire globe) than to be tortured by elemental extremes just to win a piss-poor, lackluster chicken shit amount of money.

@@Barber747 Yeah, me too. For what they went through, the amount of money they actually won was very small. They should've gotten at a million dollars and thousands of dollars won at the end should've been added on top of it. They were willing to risk their life, just to win as much money as they could. I'm glad it was shut down when it did and no more gameshows as extreme as this have been created & aired.

Thanks! I’m more vocal on social media about motorsports but I do really love the game show genre too. Definitely gotta find a way to do a cross-over sometime.

I have never watched a full episode of this show. Not even on a dare would I do it. This thing was a complete mess

This show scarred me hardcore as a kid

The Chamber looks like something Goku would train in.

I've also heard that the show was rushed so rapidly, there was a fire in the heat chamber while a contestant was in there during the first taping. Also, longtime MLB Play By Play voice Matt Vagersian was supposed to be the host, but walked out after hearing of the premise. Rick was slightly better in the final 2 episodes, but he sure seems condescending at times, like he gets excited about some of the dangerous stimuli on the show. I feel that the prize money should've been bigger as contestants lives where on the line. The Chair had its surprises and jump scares, but at least had a controlled environment and they cared about the safety of the contestants. I honestly don't know if this shows could've been improved if it was never rushed to the air. I find it funny that they wanted more scripted content, yet American Idol, which might've been FOX's biggest show during the 2000's, debuted months after the Chamber, and two years after Greed ended.

There 3 episodes run was 4 episodes too long.

My god, this show is worse than Million Dollar Word Game, Thousand Dollar Bee, AND Shoppers Casino combined! This should've never been greenlit at all.

The game was very Fear Factor like except repetitive and boring.

Speaking of which, I saw the Dick Clark Productions logo at the end of Season 18 of So You Think You Can Dance (Along With 19 Entertainment).

The worst game show ever

I wouldn't recommend "The Chamber" either, but the ending of this video is my problem. I have a sensitive body.

The reason that contestants only won $7,000 is because the rules said that if a contestant gave 2 wrong answers back to back they would forefit half there winning at that point

The Chamber was marred by extremely high production costs and was tied for the most expensive game show on network television at the time. The viewership was much lower than its contemporary counterpart The Chair that it was not shipped internationally. In addition The Chamber was domestically developed for Fox while The Chair was developed in New Zealand even though the United States was the first country where the show aired. The Chair was able to be sold internationally but the format failed after about a decade because of increasing production costs.

Ironically NEVER heard of this Show or ABC's the Chair since I live in Canada but still would NEVER watch this show anyway just for how Bad it was and Yes Millionaire was STILL BETTER than this Gameshow and that is saying Lots!

I never saw either of those shows when they were first airing so there's a lot of research I'd need to do first. But I'll make sure you know if/when I tackle that subject.

So many times I'll come across a certain web page on a certain blogspot that I feel the same way about!😂 And by the way, I feel the same way about Supernanny, except I know that's not a game show, just an annoying, overdramatized reality show!👎

@@bcschneider53 yeah I strongly agree. But Card Sharks 2001, in contrast to its predecessors, was just a waste of time and production resources. Horrible format, pointless gameplay, and Pat Bullard's atrocious acting made this a trifecta of a god-awful game show revival. I was just now thinking, as a request from me, can you do a review of that show as well by comparing it to its two predecessors?
