The Cave - 3 days solo bushcraft, camping in natural shelter, old school skills, minimal gear.

Ойын-сауық

Sun, wind, rain , it even snowed at some point in this late spring trip. I got it all on this 3 day solo bushcraft wild camping in a natural shelter in the northern wilderness of Scandinavia. I was actually there for 4 days, the painting took two sessions because chasing light is hard in outdoor painting. This is an amazing rock formation country with natural cave shelters. I found one deep enough for 3 people to sleep in it with good ventilation. I built a safe fire place and got a nice spit roast going, got a bit primitive and went old school on fire making and deco. I used a wool blanket, sheep skin and an rustic Llama poncho from the Andes to keep me warm but I had to keep the fire going all night on this trip, highest temps where + 8 C during the day and lowest was - 4 C at night.
In case you are wondering where the instrument "yidaki" I play came from.. well, I hiked with it but I did not film it. I left it by the camera when doing walking scenes, it's just too cumbersome to carry it twice on this rough hilly terrain. The rock paintings are made with charcoal and water and are not permanent. Thanks for watching - Ric

Some of your finest work, I will always watch back on these videos. it's so saddening that you are no longer with us. I for one will miss your content you were such an inspiring individual, artistically, and musically, you showed the ways of bushcraft without saying anything at all, a master of his own forest life. RIP RIC January 22

I don't know if the Scandies have a saying like or similar to one we have in North America that goes "Jack of all trades, Master of none." But anyway, you are just the opposite. Even other Masters would recognise their equal in you. This video embodies so many of your gifts it is mind boggling: filming, editing, scenery, capturing scenes like a fine art, painting, the didgeridoo (a very rare talent), story line, colours, playful, lighting, tempo of the story, length of each scene, sound(s), textures, plus the outdoors bushcraft and survival stuff, etc., etc.. Да круто, з початку року дивився ваші відео. В моїй країні Україні теж наступило літо. Я теж почав виїджати в ліса, один подалі від людей з ночівлею. Тільки ти і ліс. За відео Respect - Cool, I've been watching your videos since the beginning of the year. Summer has also come to my country, Ukraine. I also started going to the woods, one away from people with an overnight stay. Only you and the forest. According to the video Respect

How convenient for you to have a rock cave to use as a shelter, and a Forrest with all the moss carpet. Sir, your I find your video an interesting and entertaining documentary of your adventure. I appreciate all the special things you took the time to video and share with everyone. Such a special touch with the paintings on the cave. The music was also nice, hope you can visit this campsite often so you can enjoy. Awesome thank you Sir for sharing. Bless you

Ric👍👍 Nice camp, no shelter to build and maintain, only a fire. Love it when Mother Nature provides natural shelter, only in my neck of the woods better watch out for bear, cougar, wolf, they like them as well😉 Looked like you had a good time, I did watching👌 A bit of the outback coming out of you, good playing. Another quality video from you, thanks. Enjoy!
