The Causes of Anti Semitism Throughout History

Throughout human history, Jews have been subject to religious discrimination, genocide and pogroms. Ranging from the ancient world to 2022, anti-semetism has been prevalent and it begs the question why it has happened consistently throughout human history. The purpose of this video is to investigate the history of antisemitism, its causes and why it is still happening today in 2022. To answer this, we are going to analyse the most significant moments of Jewish persecution in human history and to see exactly why Jewish people were targeted. You’re watching All Things Humanities.

Anti Roman protests were not the reason Titus was given the job of besieging Jerusalem, but because Jewish Zealots ambushed and wiped out an entire Roman legion of 6000. That’s what really pissed off the Romans. As a historian analyzing causation that’s a pretty huge difference.

This is a decent start, but there is so much more. For those of us who are not Jewish, a very good introduction to the complexity of this issue is "The Source" by James Michener. I read it back in the mid 70's and I still find that concepts Michener addressed are useful to understanding events of today. In addition, the expulsion from Judea and the dispersing of the Jews throughout the Roman Empire by the Romans plays a significant part in this issue and should not be underestimated.

Exactly, they don’t really talk about the god that Jews worship is Yahweh, who is a lesser god than the God who created the universe. The god who called for animal and human sacrifices, division amongst nations and war. The god who demands to be feared and is jealous, wrathful, vengeful and self centered. This is why the Jews killed Jesus, because they didn’t want the people to turn against them and follow the one true God. The Divine Source of all creation.

Maybe it's all just jealousy and envy. The Indians were driven out of Africa. The ibo persecuted in nigeria. The resented in Malaysia. Christian lebanese forced into exile. Colombia and El Salvador are grateful for that. Shakira and Bukele. Success breeds enemies. Many successful blacks are beginning to find out also. As a Jew, I’ve never even heard of that but that’s wilddddd 😬😬 but I mean, then again why would he put that in here if it wasn’t about antisemitism ? Also-also, I’m surprised Jewish ppl during that time would go commit the sin of taking your own life cuz generally jewish people were more religious in the past than they are today and so from what I’ve learned, judiasm also happens wasn’t what it is today- as in there were different Jewish tribes with their own unique version of the traditions etc throughout the world and Judaism eventually became the broad term as the religious tribes sort of melted/shifted into one modern-ish religion (Judah’s tribe is the closest to modern judiasm basically) BUT this kind of makes sense becuase there were certain pseudo-Jewish tribes in history that I’ve read about, that had certain ‘different’ or outdated traditions or practices that don’t exist today, and maybe that was one of the practices idk lol this is honestly Me just sharing some theories I have on this because it’s such a weird story and considering I went to a private Jewish school from kindergarten To 8th grade (yes I went to a normal public school for high school so I sort of balanced out into a more self aware and less sheltered version of myself lol) anyway idk why I just added an entire novel to my theory but I am gonna go to bed ✌🏼✌🏼

And you can't say Jews control the banks because the three or four biggest banks in America are founded by Protestants and I'm pretty sure that Protestants run them! However what I'm trying to say is I don't believe that the Jews did nothing to get kicked out of all them countries I mean if you were the chosen people wouldn't that mean people like you! Great question. The answer is that it is hardwired into human's to Fear and become suspicious of that which they do not understand. People, ideas, things all get put in the 'danger/hate' box, partly as an evolutionary defence mechanism, but when this is fuelled by an acompanying hateful ideology, it allows us to project our hate, anger, fear outward, onto an 'object' which can then serve as a totem to 'resolve' the inner difficult feeling. 'Ah it's cos of these people that I feel this hate, fear' etc. But of course if it weren't Jews, it would be people with big ears, gingers, Irish, the mentally ill, disabled etc. Humans are a species obsessed with difference not in a loving and curious way.

Islam and Christianity were imperial faiths that sought to conquer, convert and unite the world and that's hard to do without expressing supremacy over the ancestral faith that came before them. It's why antisemitism is a non-sequitur in India and most of Asia. Pretty remarkable that this isn't obvious to everyone.

Correction. Antisemetism is "prejuduce against Semetic people (Jews, Arabs, and some other smaller ethnicities, basically anyone whose mother tongue is a Semitic language)". Just because the media has decided to eliminate use of the word for prejudice against non Jewish Semites doesn't change what it is. In more modern usage it means "any criticism of ZIonist racism".

He later wrote those that do not accept it should burn in a revolutionary Holocaust. This is the thing that I find hard to grasp, Karl Marx a Jew writes the communist manifesto, Giovanni Gentile a Jew writes the Fascist manifesto, the symbiosis creates national socialism that then kills 6 million Jews. I think there is a pathology and an intellectualism with Jewish thought, Ashkenazim Jews score the highest in IQ tests, There is something about the Jews that both brilliant and so destructive at the same time. You can look at Islam and Christianity at the same time and figure it out, but the Jews are an enigma.

I can answer this. It's both a religion and/or a cultural group depending on your orientation to Judaism. I am a Secular half Jew, Ignostic not Atheist. As individuals, Jews can be as annoying, petty, arrogant, brilliant, creative, abusive and kind, as unique as individuals you'd find in any other group. BUT as a cultural group, they are so incredibly cosmopolitan: everybody is welcome at the table. As the saying goes 2 Jews, 3 opinions. They're often open to new ideas, all inclusive, so totally opinionated and likewise incredibly generous. The only other Western religion that's as open to everyone including non believers, as far as I'm aware (please educate me if I'm wrong) are the Universalist Unitarian Church. Equally accepting of others is the Buddhists, not religious.

Of Jewish parentage, I was raised according to their inconsistent Orthodox Jewish practices. I became "a man", had my Bar Mitvah, the year WW2 ended, and I lived through the period of idealism that surrounded the American people's support for the State of Israel. I remember, as an example of that idealism a very popular Hollywood film drama, about the founding of Israel starring Paul Newman and Eva Marie Saint. Now, in 2023, if not before, the world sees that Israel does what all capitalist countries try to do, expand its borders. The present war in Gaza is a result of Israel's part in the failure to resolve, since 1967, the conflict with its Arab neighbors, a people who were forcibly displaced from their homes in part by the idealism described above. Sadly, we see that Jewish culture did not impede Jews from behaving like their Christian, Roman, Greek, and earlier persecutors.

It is tribalism out of control and protected by religion or other common beliefs. It is human nature. All tribes have their unique characteristic. Inability to blend with other tribes is a threat to tribal identity, birds of a feather, etc. It is deeply ingrained and practiced constantly, everywhere. It is fear of difference. The greater the difference, the greater the fear. That is the great human challenge for us all. ... And we better get on it.

ANTISEMITISM November 29, 2022 I am from a small town in Idaho. When I was twelve I got a paper route and also made money mowing lawns. One of my customers was Mr. Cohen. He had a small shop selling furs downtown that must have been successful as his home was in an area known for the upper class. He had a big lawn that I mowed with a push mower so you know it was a while ago. We never conversed, just collected my dues. So I never knew anything except that he was Jewish. There was another singular ethnic person in our town and he was an African American. He had a tiny slot on Main Street that held his shoe shine shop. My Dad told me he was called the “mayor” as he had to usher others of his race to the other side of town with instructions to keep moving on. Proud Americans? So, I want to get to the issue of this paper. Jewish people have faced discrimination, hatred and endless, incredible, violent treatment for as long as they have existed. They have been persecuted since the birth of Jesus as they do not accept him as the savior and the Christians just cannot accept that. You may disagree, call me crazy but it is my idea the problem is..THE MOTHERS! The very survival of the Jewish people has been tough for them for ages. How have they not only survived but even prospered. Why? I contend that it is because of their mothers. Mothers insist on excellence from their sons. Their daughters too but the sons have had more opportunity and responsibility. No matter what field, law, finance, medicine, show business, even art, their sons must excel. They must not accept less than the best marks, the top grades, respect and success. And they have achieved those goals. Jewish men have prospered in so many directions. They can be very tough businessmen, like in the textile world on the East Coast. Brutal at times, taking advantage of young children, working them long hours in miserable conditions for as little pay as they could squeeze. This all came from endless years of the challenge for Jews to just exist, to survive. Christians grew up with jealousy. Their god says, “Thou shalt not have any gods before me!” So, they can easily be jealous of their successful Jewish brethren. In the Buddhist teachings there are four illimitables One of them is mudita, sympathetic joy. That is the pleasure one has in the success of others. It is not a feature of Christianity as proven by The Crusades and the Insurrection where the plan was to make every one believe like me or die. That can be lead to such conflagrations as Kristallnacht where enraged Germans destroyed hundreds of Jewish shops. Which lead to the absolute abomination of humanity, the Holocaust. The world has had much abominable genocide from every quarter but that is not what this is about. Jewish men have succeeded immensely and made personal fortunes but they have also created tremendous (a 45 word!) wealth for many nations. If there is any blame, it must go to the men but if there is any glory, it must go to the MOTHERS!

The most commonly overlooked reason for dislike of the Jews is fear. Jews have excelled at networking with each other across distances. European villages that scarcely survived feared a Jewish shop opening: with its long-reaching connections it could undercut prices and put the locals out of business. This is not simply unaccountable racial or religious prejudice. But it in no way justifies a holocaust. Considering the understandable roots of resentment could prevent it from happening again - with Jews or anyone.

Only the upper class were converted, they weren't forcefully converted it was Jewish missionaries, that's like saying Paul forcefully converted people to Christianity, they were conquered by other nations and in that time usually the kings and upper class would be annihilated and replaced, Jews have no connection to northern caucuses genetically. As a group they are closer to middle eastern and euro mix. Also a lot of various Jewish groups use the Talmud. But you know who doesn't? Jews from the caucuses and Crimea lmao. They were chosen to spread the word of God but chose it for themselves and then God sent Jesus who they denied.then the Christians took over as the chosen people, then they believed him to be God so another prophet was sent the seal of the prophets peace and blessings be upon them all. He told them also we're Christians and jews went wrong, and now Muslims are the chosen as long as they uphold the laws. It has always been that way. They were chosen first and beloved but not anymore as they rejected the prophets who they even went to Kedar to seek out. Their ethnic supremcist ideology worked against them yet again. Muslims do not have this. Everyone is equal..the only one who knows our worth is God. And he reads the hearts of his creation and we will be judged accordingly. But we Muslims don't go around we are chosen..it's a title to go propergate the faith tell people about the creator and be grateful for the blessings he instills on all his creation wether they believe or not. Don't hate the people hate their actions..

You have a point but maybe it's because Islamic anti-Judaism is a religious division and centred in the middle east. As others have said, the term seems to have originated in Germany because the Jews were the majority of the Semitic peoples there. I'd suggest that Arabic anti-Semitism predates the religious division because of the way Jews treated their middle eastern neighbours, as described in Deuteronomy 7:1-6. I respect the rights of Jews to practice their religion but I don't agree that they have the right to persecute others for not aligning with that religion (or insert other belief, ethnicity, nationality etc.).

The term/ concept originated in Germany. German Jews were overwhelmingly urban and secular. Over the centuries adopting German culture. They were not religious orthodox or fanatics but a “model minority”. A minority similar to Asians (e.g. Japanese, Korean, Indian) in modern day USA - doing well despite having experienced isolation and oppression. German Jews have been over represented in the most important areas of science such physics, chemistry - a model minority. They owned shops, selling books and groceries. Contributed to German culture and art. Adopted lots of the most German cultural festivals/ holidays including German Christmas traditions- e.g. the Christmas tree is a German tradition (spread by Prince Albert to the wider world), lots of German Jews had Christmas trees because it was a very German thing to do….

Many groups have been persecuted throughout history, such as Native Americans, Aborigines in Australia, slave taking by many groups. All based on a "them and us " mentality, in which people are not recognised as being essentially the same. When you have nations built on a religious identity, whether it be Islamic Iran, or Jewish Israel, this just highlights such artificial division. Nationalism and racism are just more examples of this separate group identity.

Certainly guaranteed the DESTH and torture of millions of Jews. They didn’t read the Talmud to justify killing torturing and exiling Jews. Less than 10per cent of the entire Jewish world than speak to rabbis or know fluent Hebrew have even a slightest CLUE of one word in the Talmud. Less than 2 Million Jews in the world have seriously studied the first five books of the Old Testament The Torah. More than 10 times the population of Jews in the world BELIEVE that all Jews should be terminated off the earth in the name of their God “Allah” More than the same amount of Christians claim that because Jews “are responsible for the DEATH of their God, a Jewish man called Jesus who may of may not have existed” That they MUST become Christians and denounce their Jewish heritage BEFORE this Jesus (who is GOD in the Flesh) will come to earth and “SAVE THE WORLD” But you carry on believing a few internet posts that say something weird about someone named “Joshua” or something bad about “non Jews” who probably took Israelites as slaves in the e Bronze Age and beat them and worked them to death or whatever. Nobody cares about “Talmud” discussions written by Jewish elders in captivity. They have as much to do with the jewish life of someone like Adam Sandler Stephen Spielberg or the average Jew as Mark Twain and William Shakespeare has on the average Norwegian. What an idiot.

Great presentation... however we should concern that Ashkenazi, Jews, the Jews who lived in the Rhineland valley and in neighboring France before their migration eastward to Slavic lands (e.g., Poland, Lithuania, Russia are the Jew you are referring to and this also applies the the Jews of Spain and Portugal. Other factor is "Zionism which is a nationalist movement that emerged in the 19th century to enable the establishment of a homeland for the Jewish people in Palestine, a region roughly corresponding to the Land of Israel in Jewish tradition. Following the establishment of Israel, Zionism became an ideology that supports "the development and protection of the State of Israel". However, since Jews are only envisioned as Slavic, hence the English word Slave. It is important to recognize that the Jew or Hebrew teachings are not just Slavic. It is not hatred but human competition. Bigotry start in the cradle.
