Yeah massive mess up from the directors. I think it was the monotone and darker tone of the show paired with terrible lines given to the actors. I feel that the casting was perfect, they just didn’t use them effectively at all.

​@@mythrin I heard of directors letting child actors do multiple practice and silly exagerated takes to loosen up and find the right tone and confidence to deliver their lines for the real take i doubt this was the case here considering how stiff or awkwardly a lot of the lines and some of the acting were. Not only for the children but for the adults too at times. So I seriously doubt its the actors and rather a case of poor directing.

Everyone saying that they act like their characters in real life than in the show, which is so true. I wish that the writers gave the actors more creative freedom and even let them improvise and use their natural dynamics they already had with each other. Like they do in these clips, competing over whose bending is better (can you imagine a scene where Aang and Zuko are arguing over fire and air, like a bunch of 5 year olds), the bromance that slowly develops between Sokka and Zuko, or Katara having to practically be a fed up babysitter for them all. The show has potential.

They’re better at being their characters in real life than on screen, the writers need to step up their game
