I would prefer a million times to have ephemeral suffering followed by eternal bliss. I am a muslim and in our religion every person who dies by drowning or burning (whatever the reason) is a martyr and it seems Sophie drowned which makes her a martyr.

No, makes perfect sense to me. Dude was in showbiz, pretty much 70% of the field is a scam. Probably only made him like her more, like “how clever, how resourceful”.

I used to work in Wimbledon which is very close to Southfields and I worked in Boots which is like a pharmacy which also sells toiletries skincare and makeup. Early on when I was working there on the tills Sabrina came in, bear in mind I’m new to working in retail, she took umbrage with the fact a certain offer wasn’t active anymore and berated me, my colleague and my manager to the point where I had to leave the shop floor in tears. She would make a beeline for me or my till every time she visited Boots and was really intimidating and aggressive. I think she liked that she made me feel vulnerable, like it was a power move. She would switch from being nice to being really quite vile at the drop of a hat when she didn’t get her way. It’s so sad that this vile woman took the life of a woman with such potential and how it’s devastated her family who trusted that their daughter would be in a safe work environment. These two individuals who killed or enabled the killing Sophie are beyond a disgrace and deserve to rot in prison.

Fkn DISGUSTING when murderers write "apology" letters to the families of those they murdered. I'm sure sometimes they're serious and well-intentioned but that's probably rare. And Sabrina was a vile woman and it's beyond disgusting that she even put Sophie's name in her mouth and that she chose to speak to Sophie's poor family. Absolute TRASH. RIP Sophie, you deserved love and respect and a long life.

See if they feel the same *after* they go away for life, otherwise you will never convince me it's not complete BS intended to only help themselves and not anyone else. Especially in this case. I have bipolar disorder and GAD (Generalized Anxiety Disorder).. and of course I get mad and have loud outbursts sometimes, but I never hurt anyone. Might have hurt their feelings but never hurt anyone physically. Makes me angry when people with BPD are painted as violent, promiscuous, crazy, things like that. I hope you're doing well and have your BPD under control. I finally have the right medication regimen so I have mine is under control, thank the heavens.

@@chelseapthib36 yes exactly, I even got to the point of questioning myself as to how dangerous I was, mainly because all I ever heard of was that people with BPD are killers. My now adult children just say, as long as nobody hurts us then people are safe.

@@chelseapthib36 You’re right! I am quick to say something hurtful but couldn’t imagine actually physically hurting someone. Ive only told a few people about my diagnosis in fear of judgement that may come with it. It truly sounds a lot scarier than it is. It is overwhelming and I do struggle but I’m not a threat to anyone. It’s mainly towards myself if anything really. I am getting help, it’s been a process but I’m getting there! Thank you! Also glad you’ve got yours under control!

The picture of Sophie really brought what happened into reality for me. I live in the US, where the death penalty can be given. I am not a huge supporter of it, simply because the thought of someone who could be innocent being put to death is horrendous. However, in a case where they know for 100% certainty what happened, these monsters are the reason it even exists. This beautiful innocent girl had her life cruelly taken away and the human trash that took it still gets to breathe. This case will stay with me for a long time.

In my opinion death is an easy way out, its more satisfying to see someone rot in prison for the rest of their lives, thinking about the concequences of what they’ve done everyday and knowing they’ll never get out.

I live in the US also, but the death penalty isn't an option in my state. Just to add on to your statement, bc it implies that anywhere in the US is eligible for the death penalty, which it is not. I always thought it was wrong, but when my good lifelong friend was murdered by someone else I'd known most of my life, my views on that somewhat changed. I actually ended up wishing that my statement did have the death penalty. Instead, he has life without mercy. Life with having free meals, no rent and access to cable tv, internet, I even heard that he has access to gaming consoles. Sometimes the world just isn't fair.

My friend was killed by someone who thought that getting free meals and living rent-free the rest of his life with access to amenities like cable tv was actually a bargain. Seriously. We actually suspect that it was part of his motive. It makes me wish that my state had the death penalty, because life without mercy in this case applies more to the family and friends of the victim than it does to the prisoner.

As someone who has been an au-pair in London for a year I can confirm that it is a very psychologically abusing experience. It's been 7 years now and I STILL have nightmares about the host mom and all the things she put me through. I can't stress this enough; if you are thinking of becoming an au-pair, GET TO KNOW THE FAMILY PROPERLY FIRST.

@@leahdevilliers2887 the thing is, you roll the dice each time and you could be putting yourself in a really vulnerable position. You can only get to know what they want to show you beforehand, and then once you arrive in the country, you're kinda stuck in a place you may not speak the language of very well. You're at the mercy of the host family in many ways. I know people who have done it and had a great time. I know others who have been sexually harassed and abused by one of the parents or one of the older children (sometimes an au pair is not much older than the eldest child).

The audacity of her to write a letter addressing Sophie’s family. The self pity is too much for me. How do these psychopaths think it’s okay to do what they do, but once they get caught all of a sudden they regret their actions. At least you get to live to see another day. i feel like in cases like these where the victim wants to get away so bad but is just not able to. it’s so heartbreaking to think about what must’ve been going on in Sophie’s head toward the end of her life.

Thank you for doing this through Sophie's pov. Everyone else does it from Sabrina's, giving that wannabe the attention she so craved. Poor Sophie had her light snuffed, and she deserves to be remembered, as you have done here, and not just to exist as a footnote in the story of Sabrina. I really like the way you approach the stories you do. You keep it to a reasonable length, don't spend a ridiculous amount of time trying to armchair diagnose, and have a sensitivity that is really needed for cases like these. You also come across as very sincere, which is also very important when dealing with content this sensitive. THank you again for telling this story the way you did.

I live literally 20 seconds down the road from where this happened. I remember it clearly. It was sickening and so sad :( x

I have heard this told from several different people and it's always based off of the wannabe movie star or celebrity nobody ever tell Sophie's story this really touched me to learn who Sophie really was and why she went through those things instead of just leaving I feel so connected to her as a person and that's the only time I ever have. You are the kind of person that you want to tell your story when you're gone.

This case is devastating. It's been a while since I've felt this way, so mournful, so sorrowful, so tristful.. And so pissed off, so wrathful and so mad!! These two are some of the most obnoxious, abominable, odious and vile murderers I've watched or read about. The adjectives to describe how disgusting they are to me aren't enough!

Many women would experience PMS and instead of giving them care to deal with PMS symptoms they’d be labelled as crazy and maybe even sectioned.

Bella, you should investigate similar stories in Singapore and Malaysia... we had quite recently pretty awful abuse toward helpers, those girls being traumatized and physically damaged, and even one who did not make it in Malaysia. The abuses they went through are unbelievable and disgusting

Through the Court, they did not believe that Marc was having a relationship with Sophie, but used that like many other things to abuse her. They were not believing their lies, they knew the game they were both playing. In french we would say those two are "machiavelique" monsters. If they thought she had a relationship with Marc they would have sent her back to France... those people were basically monsters who took pleasure with her suffering. Her mum spoke many times about it all, she and her husband will never recover from it and can barely, even today, function in their daily life. Being French, I followed this tragedy, I had heard of cases where the helper was abused, bitten up etc... but never as bad as what happened to Sophie. May she Rest in Peace and maybe the parents find a bit of strength to live their lives. 🙏🙏🙏 Thanks Bella for this video, rare are the KZreadrs who treated it which always surprised me. I get so sick of this argument. She was in France, not some kind of obscure village in the Afghan mountains. Obviously she couldve found someone who spoke a little English. She was literally 1 day away from home. She stayed there voluntarily. She had literally zero obligations toward this family of strangers.

This is so horrendous, and outrageous. Poor Sophie. I've never heard of this case before. I hope she is resting in peace.

Sophie's broken sternum would have been from them reviving her with CPR and continuing the torture after. I went through full cardiac arrest last summer from pneumonia. That is a pain I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy. Not to mention all of the other extremely disgusting things they did.

Paramedic here, in my 9 years of being a medic and doing cpr often as well as seeing it often, never have broken a sternum. If it was from cpr it’s because they were doing it incorrectly and far to low on the sternum. Breaking a sternum from cpr is very very very rare. More likley from them stomping on her or something of that sort, just more force than compressions.

@@halihendry7551, sadly, this is incorrect. I was a cpr instructor for the fire department. Proper chest compressions are a third of the depth of your body. Fractures are absolutely common. That is why there are laws protecting people who administer compressions. Besides all of this, I seriously doubt they would have done it correctly.

@@halihendry7551, I was revived by cpr last August 30th. I am a survivor. I was administered cpr whilst in the hospital. They did it correctly. My sternum was completely fractured, as well as most of my ribs in the front and back. Your sternum breaks from the top of your chest, not lower. You may be a paramedic but it's still the fire department that generally administers cpr. They have more strength than paramedics and are required to be up to fitness levels.

I've never heard of this case before and I'm just disgusted at what both Sabrina and Sam did to poor Sophie and the fact that Sabrina accused Sophie of having an affair with her ex who is in Los Angeles when she had multiple affairs with other men herself, makes her a hypocrite. Also her apology speech to Sophie and her family is load of bs and lies and I hope that loser and her loser husband spends the rest of their worthless lives behind bars in prison.

This is one of the most horrific cases I’ve ever heard. So senseless too. RIP sweet girl. The monsters who took you will never know the light you gave to this world.

To be honest, the description of Sabrinas personality perfectly fits with her looks. As soon as you showed her picture, I thought “a classical gold digger”. 🤮 This is not just based on her appearance, it’s just her aura. Her letter does also tell a lot about her. It sounds like a letter that someone who had nothing to do with the murder wrote. “What happened to you”…That woman never takes responsibility even in words.

as a nanny this case breaks my heart. people often ask me if i would ever consider working as an au pair and my answer is no, never in a million years. even nannies are overwhelmingly overworked and underpaid, but being an au pair is 1000% worse. 9/10 people looking to hire an au pair vs a nanny are people who can’t afford luxury child care and are essentially looking for a childcare robot. i wish so much that domestic workers could unionize so situations like this won’t happen in the future.

i feel so sorry for sophie, she was so excited to be an au pair and it turned into the worst nightmare imaginable. i was an au pair and it's sadly very common to be taken advantage of by host families so it wasn't shocking to hear that she was being forced to work so much for so little money. in france where i was an au pair there are some regulations however unless you pay to be placed by an agency you're pretty much on your own. legally as a non eu citizen i was only supposed to work 25 hrs a week but i was working at least 40 with everything i was expected to do. i once worked 50+ hours one week (left with the kids 12 hours or more while they were off school) with no extra compensation other than a "half day" where i didn't have to work the afternoon

this poor, poor girl... not really aside from the point, but there needs to be better laws in place to protect au pairs, especially since they often (like in sophies case) dont speak the language of their hosts and don't know the countrys legal system as well

They shouldn't be allowed to because the only reason it's written to begin with is guilt and trying to soften their sentence by showing remorse. It disgusting and, like you said, shouldn't be allowed. The attorneys can tell the judge if there's remorse or not, or a letter can be written and given to the judge to consider in. private

Hey Bella , I just wanted to say thank you. I lost my dad to cancer and have been through a very hard break up. I’ve was depressed and sad to the point where I can’t get out bed. Over that period the only thing I could bring myself to do other than cry or sleep was watch your videos. You helped me escape what was hell for me with your content. Thank you. So much. I don’t know who I would of watched if you weren’t on KZread. No other person in this kind of genre pulls it off for me like you do. I know everyone is different by nature but raising you children to be self confident with the attitude of taking shit from nobody is so important. We always teach the kids to be nice and kind but fail to teach them the otherwise .The world pays no heed for people who dont speak for themselves because they are gentle and polite and it is so messed up.

Agreed but also you have to imagine that this girl is in a new country, doesn’t speak the language well, doesn’t know anyone, has no money and is extremely vulnerable. It’s a bad situation for someone and really messes with your mental state.

I think that was the main issue there. She had no idea how to come up for herself, even when being severely abused. Really crazy considering she was 1 day away from being home and safe.

The piece of note Sophie wrote in that little room she was kept in is heartbreaking

Poor sweet Sophie’s case is so heartbreaking. She seemed to be such a kind caring you lady who only wanted to take care of others. She did nothing for these two evil monsters to treat her so horrifically. I can’t help but feel like when people cross the line in such a manner as the way they did with poor Sophie, that they will never again be able to show any real remorse or ever be productive useful members of society. So I’m the least they should be locked away forever. My thoughts and prayers go out to all of Sophie’s loved ones because they’ve lost such a precious dear young lady who had such a promising bright future ahead of her. Thank you for covering her story Bella. Your always so empathetic to the victims and their loved ones when talking about their lives. I hope you always keep up the wonderful work you do. What an absolutely heartbreaking story, actually sitting here in tears. When I saw the picture it completely broke me. This poor sweet girl that had so much ahead of her, I can’t imagine the fear she went through almost the entirety of her time there. I so wish that the chippy owner had managed to help her get back to France. I can only hope the pair that done that to her suffer till the end of their days.

I wonder if those Au Pair agencies investigate their clients (parents) or if they just send a girl to their homes without any research first, I know they investigate the au pair candidates but what about the people who wants to hire them? Also, they should do something about the au pair's rights, salary, medical insurance, etc.

Even if agencies to background checks, the clients can easily pretend to be something they're not (good people), and when the Au Pair arrives, they completely switch their behaviour. This happens with a lot of clients, not just in the Au Pair business. Unfortunately.

While hearing all of this, I had this adrenaline rush and an overwhelming urge to help Sophie only to realize that it’s too late. She’s gone. It’s so heartbreaking that she went through all of this alone and scared. I wish this poor girl was alive so that I could give her a hug. This was honestly one of the most heartbreaking cases I’ve ever heard of. I feel for her family. Especially her mother. 💔

Sadists will use any trumped up reason to do things like this. They didn't believe their own bullshit story for a second, in my opinion. Poor poor girl.
