Cars certainly did age disgracefully back in those days. The opening scenes of the LC Torana on the trailer plus the HK Holden at 0:26........both only a few years old when this footage was shot, yet already look like they're ready for the crusher! I remember when cars of this era were everywhere in the days before ABS. Half asleep drivers would suddenly slam their brakes on, scaring the shit out of pedestrians to avoid hitting the car in front. In summer, you had to drive them with your windows down. The cassette player often chewed up the tape of the cassette while playing. The vehicles often blew smoke, were noisy, had rust, and often had a door that was a different colour to the rest of the car......... motoring before the 90's. You know you're getting old when cars you once owned are now featured in historical footage or pictures. Where has time gone?? 😵

That drive down Port Hacking Rd. As blurry as it was, nothing's changed there pretty much in 40 odd years! Caringbah is definitely stuck in a time warp of sorts.

Oh wow the Mobil servo, I forgot about that, not there anymore. Waltons where you could see the water from level 2 ... Woolies ... love it, thanks so much for preserving the Shire for us all who remember black and white TV!

The cars we used to drive, crash and roll! Remember when people would go to the pub to drink at lunchtime, or bring a six-pack to a worksite?!

And to think some of those cars are now collector items and are now worth $250,000 and up.

Love all the cars and hitch-hiking now they were great days around the shire.

I just checked the rego status of that blue Falcon, it ran out in 1992. At that time it was probably worthless.

Shame no clear footage of the old Clark Rubber at far end of Caringbah near the mall and the upstairs scalelectrix race way - Clark Rubber with that weirdly designed front end
